I know how the kickstarter works as I backed the new Elite game David Braben is working on. We smashed through to 1.5 million pounds.

If you had done that with this you’d have won a watch! In the elite game we have an emblem that is going to be transferable from ship to ship in recognition that we backed the game. Some backed heavily starting with £20 and jontying ( you’d have to be an elite back to understand that) basically upping your pledge time and time again to hundreds.

Considering DZ has customizable characters you could have gotten a Patch/ Badge to transfer onto your character to show you backed the game. It would have been a gold mine and right now it would have kept everyone interested. Elite even had Book deals etc that made 4.5K to the cause a few times.

Starting point could have been £15 early bird support right up to anything with character Decals/skins!

Is there going to be a Livestream of the PAX East event?

Nope. Looks like the official livestream is covering "Behind the Music of Blockbuster Video Games" when the DayZ panel is scheduled.

I'm sure someone will record and upload it soon enough though, hopefully there will be some interesting questions asked in the Q&A.

From vid:

"You'll notice that the weapons currently aren't pointed at anything and that you have to hold down a key to aim"

I do have one worry.

It looks like you can just open your inventory to see all loot that is close to you. What happened to searching under beds and in cupboards/on shelves/in cars?

View angle perhaps? It may only show what is in direct view? Position of the player with a defined area?

Of course, something like that. I worry needlessly.

It seems that the loot mechanics now are focused on going room by room looking every furniture or corner for the items, totally different as the old one when the items spawned all together.

Ok, here is the 3 Posts at PAX EAST that brew4rt put up in order of screening.

The first one is a bit hard to hear (constant clapping and cheering), however the other versions are clearer. Looks good and fun; cant wait.

part 1 :

part 2:

part 3:

The hotkey thing is a genius inclusion.

Though I really really really hope they do away with it on the HUD (i.e. the big square with the AK-74 in it)... or make it as minimalist as possible in the final product.

Or make it pop-up to screen when use it.

so the "hotkey thing" is more/less an equivalent to rummaging around in your backpack while keeping your eyes focused on the environment? well that works for me...

Yeh, it's still a work in progress too. TBH I wasn't too sure about it to start with but i think it'll work well.

They could always up the delay or put in an animation depending on where the hot keyed item is stored - to me it makes sense if you think about hotkeying weapons or anything on your pants, shirt and chest rig as it's all with in a quick reach and pull.

The only thing that doesn't seem as easily accessed, not making as much sense, is back pack items being hotkeyed.

I'd imagine that all weapons will be visible, whether they are melee or not, and they will also have an arming animation, so it won't be instant like certain other games we won't mention...Bandaging has animations, and so does eating, so having hot keys is essentially like having stuff easily accessible without even having to go into your inventory, which is ingenious really.

If I have stuff in my pockets, or even in the top of a backpack, side pockets of pack etc. they would be quickly accessed, so it isn't unrealistic.

The idea of pushing a key to aim sounds excellent to me as well. It could make identifying friendlies a lot easier, while still keeping the tension.

It's shaping up really well by the sounds of it. :)
