whiteboy greg 21 Posted January 22, 2013 I was just thinking of an easier way to distinguish bandits vs survivors. Basically just have a red and a blue team and assign no friendly fire to one of the teams. If you want team up with people just pick the no friendly fire team and then you automatically know you have friendlies with you. If you want to kos then just pick the other team and kill to your small black hearts content. This something that would be completly server optional. In fact im sure someone who knows more about servers than I do could already make this happen.
Quartermaine 34 Posted January 22, 2013 Already been suggested; and Team 1 v Team 2 is completely against the idea of DayZ. The game you are after is BF3.
dekartz 315 Posted January 22, 2013 This has been suggested before and is kind of a touchy subject on these-here forums. To sum it up:The "Purists" believe that it has no place in a game that's supposed to be bleak and oppressive. The "Radicals" will accuse you of being a "baddie" who got killed by a bandit and doesn't want tog et better. The "Geoffrey's" will suggest you play on their server that has no PVPAnd finally the "Lizzies" will agree with you.

The game you are after is BF3.I figured it had been discussed so I did a forum search and I failed to find what I was looking for.But team1 vs team2 is not really what I'm suggesting. All you would be doing is opting out of killing certain players. If you wanted to you could choose to kill everyone. And again, server optional. Ok then, maybe I'll start a "lizzie" server. It always confounds me how people can get all butthurt about how someone else is playing on another server. Thanks for the in depth comment. Clumzy (DayZ) 377 Posted January 22, 2013 I'm sorry, but just like in real life, accidental friendly fire should always be a possibility. I mean, something like this added into the game would be the first step down a path that most players wouldn't want to take. Would you really want someone massacring bambis in Cherno to have a satchel charge blown right beside them, but not get killed because a teammate did it as part of the offense?I know I don't. whiteboy greg 21 Posted January 22, 2013 I hear you Clumzy. But I don't really like slippery slope arguments in general and DayZ is not real life. And this definately speaks to my level of play but I've never even seen a satchel charge. The scenario you just painted sounds like fantastical dreamland to me.For somone like me who doesn't get to play as much I'd like the option I suggested would streamline meeting up with like minded players. Clumzy (DayZ) 377 Posted January 22, 2013 Well, hopefully in the standalone, there will be apparel that is unique enough to identify players you are working with (Coloured bandanas/armbands would be A+), so that we wouldn't have to resort to artificial barriers. And while a satchel charge may be a bit unlikely, what about grenades? You can find those things anywhere. No need to clear the area of friendlies, just toss them at whatever.
whiteboy greg 21 Posted January 22, 2013 (edited) True enough my man. I have come across grenades but for the way I play I havn't used them yet. You make a valid point of the downside of no-ff.The ability to make yourself look unique would defnitely help a lot. But to give the clothing any real meaning you would have to attach an artificial barrier to it. Like recieving a gold baseball cap for not shooting on sight for a certain amount of hours. Charb 298 Posted January 22, 2013 (edited) This game requires skill and forces you to not be a noob and shoot at anyone you see, especially when you are part of a "Team" with your friends. It is a penalty of being a bad player and not communicating with your group. This is a great example and why I love this game. YOUR ACTIONS COUNT !!!Edit (Not my video) Edited January 22, 2013 by Charb
whiteboy greg 21 Posted January 22, 2013 This game is going to be fun for hardcore players no matter what.Options like this will give less hardcore players a chance to enjoy the game allowing an influx of fresh meat for the hardcore to feed on.

The slippery slope starts when the game allows the first easy button to be played. You want no friendly fire, next guy wants cross hairs, then its 3rd person ........... on and on .................. until .............. flagged PvP. End of the vision, end of the Anti GameThis idea does not fit here.
terrvik 2409 Posted January 23, 2013 Why not just play Arma? DayZ isn't about teams fighting or squads. :)

CreepySalad 108 Posted January 23, 2013 Yeah, I'm gonna have to say no.This gets rid of risk. Which is what DayZ is about. There should be no advantages.Being immune to friendly fire? No.Not at all. This isn't CoD.

terrvik 2409 Posted January 23, 2013 (edited) I did read and I thought I understood. You might also notice my smiley there so I was not being rude or sarcastic so there is no need to tell me, or anyone else, to fuck off.Why bother with teams and mechanics to support it in a zombie mod for a different game where those mechanics already exists?EDIT: And for the record I think server options are currently ruining the game. The consistency was what made the game appealing to me. Private servers with their own rules and plenty starting gear, easy settings and deathmatch options are kind of stupid really... I just put as much thought into my response as you did in yours.I think people are getting hung up on the "team" thing. Basically you would just be choosing an option to not kill certain players. Team no-ff could have 3 people on it and 47 on the team kill everyone. And when you say private server options are ruining the game that's kinda like saying gay marriage is destroying your traditional marriage. Who cares what people do in other servors or in thier own house?
sausagekingofchicago 4711 Posted January 23, 2013 This is dayZ.How fucking daft are you people. GOD DAMN SERVER OPTIONAL.And you didn't even read what I posted so fuck off.How about a completely separate hive because playing with easy mode pansies that geared up in super friendly huggies land is not even remotely interesting.
colekern 1364 Posted January 23, 2013 No. DayZ needs to stay away from systems like this. One of the reasons DayZ is special is because it doesn't have these kind of systems in place.
Clumzy (DayZ) 377 Posted January 23, 2013 Who cares what people do in other servors or in thier own house?Because when servers have an option to make the game easier, most use it. Look at how many private hives have 'spawn with gun/loadout', or at the very least, spawn with extra equipment.
