Dayz: Your Code of Conduct

So what 3 things or rules do you try to abide by when playing DayZ.

Mine:

1. Always try to find a hatchet first

2. Never kill a player without reason

3. Try and stay around Cherno and Elektro, sometimes out to Balota.

That's what i do nowadays anyway. Yours?

Run into nearest city.

Run around to find items.

Then proceed north,my usual path leads trough Zub Castle to Stary Sobor,then NW airfield. Or Berezino then Krasnostav and NE airfield.

I find it disappointing that most of mine are about KoS.

1. Never shoot an unarmed without reason

2. Do not ever turn my back to another player.

3. Get away from the coast as soon as i'm able

3: Always make my camp on Solchiny island (Sorry for butchering the name) And once i get a pbx, its basically the best spot. I had a camp there on a server with 20+ average and my camp wasnt found for 2 months ( I left the server so its probably still there xD)

1. Never trust a random as a partner, only if they have proven themselves to be friendly, resourceful, and interesting

2. Bandit = shoot. I don't want to hear your storys of "it was in defence" Oh yeah? I have 30k+ humanity, and I have shot a very fair amount of aggressive survivors

Secure a weapon.

Never use it on someone who isnt trying to kill you. (bandits excluded)

Never turn your back on another player because they say they are friendly.

Dont lose my humanity by becoming a shoot-on-sight-ass. (I have died a lot and been tempted to shoot on sight a lot. But Id rather not be one of the guys who throw away their humanity to "survive". Without that humanity - whats the point?)

1. Find basic weapon either revolver/M1911/makarov/enfield/hatchet (not talking shit about the lee enfield though it's a good gun)

2. Run to Stary Sobor and raid the tents for better guns and then search for vehicles and have fun (I never really set up camps, more fun to blow them up)

3. as for me and other people, there is no me and other people. You're either in my way or not in my way.

Shoot to kill.

1) Kill them before they kill you

2) Get into the forest as fast as you can

3) Use hatchet when looting, that way you can get in and out of towns quickly/quietly. If you're aggro'd, you go into a building and hatchet them

1. Don't shoot unless fired upon.

2. Help if you can, but make sure that any threat has been taken care of before you help. That means making them drop their weapons and making sure I don't have any guns with ammo in my backpack.

3.Try to be non-threatening, but also make sure they know that if I'm fired upon, I won't hesitate to fire back.

4. Avoid most sniper rifles unless it offers an advantage in close quarters. My sweet spot for rifles is the FAL.

5. Be polite (I usually tend to mess this one up in the heat of battle).

6. Take my time looting, but scout the area first.

7. Be smart around zombies. They may seem stupid and harmless, but all it takes is one mistake.

8. Always, Always ALWAYS make sure I have the right keybinding. This mistake forced to kill two people (with a hatchet and a revolver with one mag no less).

9. If I hear or see another player, be smart. Don't charge him yelling, "FRIENDLY!!!!!!!".

1. Stumble around until I find a barn.

2. Avoid cities and villages at all costs

3. Follow vehicles, they know where they're going better than I do.

EDIT: Reading the posts above me, it disapoints me that so many players are trying to so hard to be badasses.

1: Get the hell north, pick up anything on the way, food, guns, vehicles, etc.

2: Search for sniper gear.

3: Go back down to Cherno to have some fun.

1. Look at DayZDB map and figure out where I am.

2. Run to the nearest big city\airfield and find a weapon.

3. Start searching for a vehicle and squad mates.

After these 3 stages I start looking for real guns and better equipment.

Apart from point 1, this sounds incredibly similar to my gameplay at the moment!

4. Put gun to travellers head. Tell him to get on ground. Take his stuff. If he resists he gets shot.

5. When excess of gear is achieved, return the goodness of loot to the newspawns.
