Xbox Feedback Round - January 2019

A lot of the current issues have already been addressed by other users, so I have a suggestion to fix people “ghosting” into secure bases (and it doesnt involve tying one character to one server). Just ensure that a character spawns a certain distance away from base structures (walls etc.). That way, spawning within an enclosed area will be impossible.

I would also like to see character server lock! That character stays in that server to stop combat logging, ghosting and dupers! Of course some comprise in the sense of if a friend invites you to that server you can

Xbox Feedback Round - January 2019

Personnaly I would like to see a fix for combo-locks so we can at least lock our bases, until that's done there is no point in base building. I would also like to see base walls receive a buff making it such a chore to break into someones base (but not impossible). It would also be a good idea to lock characters to servers to stop ghosting and the burying of supplies in quieter servers. Would be nice to see the "occasional" rainy day making it important to stay dry (raincoats or find shelter) which would also make some players take the time to sit and cook etc till the rain holds off (learning other aspects of the game instead of just killing). Snares for rabbits & chickens would be great too, even fishing.

First and foremost, server specific characters will fix many issues! If we will not be getting private hive servers for Xbox at least give us server specific characters to stop the duping, server hopping, and ghosting. It is quite literally ruining the dayz experience. Secondly, making the night cycle longer and properly adding the various weather patterns would be great! On another note, I realize that a fix for the persistency issues has been being worked on and can take time but this is another reason I have completely stopped building anything. Having a base to call home is now being pushed to the “end game” but what’s the point if it just vanished over night? steady scope/holding breath and leaning are on the top of many players wants and needs as well as giving us back the ability to switch shoulders and slide down ladders. zombies damage clothes wayyy too fast and when repairing clothes more times than not it completely uses up the entire repair kit/roll of duct tape. medicine doesn’t appear to have any effect on sickness leaving a bullet through the head the only cure. As far as content that I feel is nessicary to the core dayz experience, the Winchester and b95 with the hunting scope should be the first weapons reintroduced! For clothing, the vest to pair with the Smersh bag and the pouches for the ballistic plate vest are needed too! Help a sniper out! By bringing spray paint back in we can actually repair our ghillie suits and wear pristine suits rather than them having to be damaged to be green in color. I spend hours crafting one only to get hit by a couple zombies or shot once and it’s all for nothing! Spray paint needs to be in. Adding the function for ingame chat to work along side being in a party chat. It was originally intended but seems to be on back burner and forgotten. optimizing the inventory UI and functionality would help everyone out as well. That is all that comes to mind that would very much help “The DayZ Experience” and make this game great

    1. There has to be something implemented to stop people server hopping into bases or ghosting .( Leaving the server during a gunfight and moving position on another server and then joining back in a favorable position) 2. The enenmy can literally walk up to a base and take the combination lock off a gate. 3. Ductape and other repair items randomly vanish even after just one use 4. Changing the quick reload to the X button would be a lot better because as of now it shares the Y button with the action of cycling through the quick slot items . So sometimes it will reload and sometimes it will switch weapons which can be vital during combat ! 5. Manually selecting an item from the quick slot is quite uncomfortable on controller as we normally use our thumb for both the right analog and the button A . Both these must be used at the same time for this action therefore we have to use our index finger to press A which is quite awkward ! 6. While in the inventory of a tent thats got a decent amount in it, when you try to go down through the loot the inventory keeps jumping from the top to the bottom each time you press down on the dpad to scroll through. I'd like to add I love this game but no. 1 and 2 on list are game breaking which is a real shame !

Xbox Feedback Round - January 2019

Hello BI! I wanted to start by saying thank you for opening up this forum. We all want this game to improve :). I would like just to make a quick list, although i'm sure everything has been said already. Controls - After playing Arma, I was actually impressed about the depth of the controls. They were very intuitive and effiecient. I know controllers are more limited however, but I would suggest you all look at Player Unknowns Battle Grounds, and look at how they utilize the controller. They have almost all of the things DayZ needs already implemented and i'm sure with some tweaks it could fit the game well. Single Hive Servers - I understand this is on the list, hopefully. But it would give us the authentic DayZ experience and prevent rapid server hopping, ghosting, and combat logging and base viability. Bases - I do believe part of the reason for this awful FPS issue is bases, along with increased loot spawns and zombie spawns. I want to say, if the game can't handle certain features yet, remove them. It'll cause backlash, but the game can literally be unplayable. Getting a consistent 3-10 fps on a high pop city causes so much frustration and unfair deaths. Night time - The new nighttime scope is really nice, but maybe increase night times length, or tell us why it was reduced please :p - I may have missed the reason if you already gave one. LAND MINES!! - I cannot stress how fun these are. But they are absolutely ruining the game, for not so obvious reasons. The kill radius is not only ridiculously large, it goes through walls. This, combined with duping, and combat ghosting results in players having the power of God almost. I cannot stress how many times my group has been explicitly threatened by another player saying they are going to go on their other account, get a duplicated landmine, and ghost it on our base. It has caused many unfair deaths and this item NEEDS to be fixed or removed until so. Loot cycling - This issue is just now starting. For the first time I am seeing piles of loot being out outside of areas to force spawns. Not an extreme issue, but be aware. Hit Registration - This issue has been persistent since launch, and forces players to learn the hard way which guns actually work. M4s in Full auto mode were most recently plauged by hit reg issues. Please be aware as we report future issues so we can enjoy every weapon :) Repair Items - Duct tape, weapon repair kits, etc. They are very buggy. On occasion repairing a damaged shirt or supressor will cause the repairing item to either fully dissapear regaurdless of durability, or sometimes works as normal. Sickness!! - I do not know if being sick and never being able to cure it is a feature or a bug. But I have gone multiple hours being sick and using medical supplies and vitamins to try and stop it. Death is the only cure however. I would appreciate a fix or at least clarification of that being the intended way it works. Clothing - The buggy side of it - Zombies attacking players almost always ruins the pants first, despite getting hit in another area. And sorry to indulge, but this is more of a request. Clothing ruins way to easily, along with backpacks. I know the negative effect is mostly visual, but I was sort of hoping our backpacks and clothes could get a buff to their durability from zombies and gunfire :) Sound!! - Sound has been awful. The game often goes dead silent, then the audio catches up and you get a flurry of all the audio like footsteps and such. Wind is very buggy and pops in randomly. Gunshots do not always make noise for the user shooting / others. Zombies sometimes do not make noise when screaming when aggroed. Suppressors even when ruined still work until removed (I do not know if this is a feature). Zombies!! - Zombies are VERY deadly but for silly reasons. The aggro range of infected while crouched is almost touching distance, but when standing or running zombies aggro from VERY far away. And zombies have been very buggy, either not being effected by bullets, taking double the melee hits to kill, walking through objects and teleporting. Also, it seems even supressed gunfire will still attract every zombie in the city, and shooting them just spawns more nearby already aggroed. Very hard to deal with and very deadly. Please fix :) *EDIT 1 of 2* Zombies will chase you for extreme distances, even when breaking line of sight multiple times, and they can aggro through walls, like at VMC. Micro management - Personally does not bother me, but you cannot micro manage items upwards in your inventory, you must cycle down. Visual - Textures can take lots of time to load in, and often won't stay loaded, resulting in walking through a town and zombies / buildings not being rendered fully. I wish I had a picture ready but i'm sure others do. Also, sometimes when you are not in your inventory, the description of an item like you were hovering over it will appear and dissapear, as well as switch. I do not know what causes it however. Helicopter Crash Sites - Once I was approaching a site, it dissapeared 20 feet in front of me. I found another site, I was able to take one item, I walked away to check on a nearby building, I came back and it was gone. Very silly to me. Doors - Sometimes the option to open a door does not appear or is very limited to where you have to look at the door to open it. Seems random, but it makes it so you have to look at a very specific spot to open it. Buried Stashes - They delete after every game update. I do not know if this is intended, or fixable, but just so ya know. Bases / Tents / Barrels - I do not know if you already mentioned this, but built bases and tents will actually randomly delete themselves. Seems to be after resets and crashes. Me and my friends were hanging out in our base, the server reset, we came back and it was all gone, walls tents and all. This has been happening to many and I assume it is random. Camo Netting - Tents can be very laggy due to the many items, but it seems camo netting equipped on the tent makes it much worse. Maybe due to the 3D spinning model, but I do not know for certain. Stamina- When your stamina is low enough to where you cant sprint or jump, dropping items and allowing it to refill / picking your items back up will allow you to sprint and jump normally till the stamina drains. The Dreaded Meatball Glitch - We mentioned this bug before, and the fix that was implemented was that as long as you are not bleeding you can not use bandages. But the glitch is still very possible to do, and my friend told me as long as you have an item in your hand you will stay in the glitched state. Please fix again :) Ladders - Can not slide down them, or fast climb up, player will desync with the ladder and get flung off upon exiting. Hands and feet will slowly move away from rungs while climbing. Graphics - Carrying objects like car parts and others will warp your arms into a buggy state, very minor but just a heads up. Trees / Bushes - Dropping any item too close to a tree or bush results in the item being stuck too high in it, you have to then cut the tree or bush down to get yout stuff back. Stun Locking - Punching players with just fists can result in a player being able to stun another player nonstop until death. This makes fresh spawns deadly, even a full geared player with weapons can easily die if a fresh spawn can punch them enough since they cannot fight back, it is honestly silly and unfair to an extent, but if that is an intended feature so be it. Vicinity Loot - Sometimes dropping items makes it so you cannot pick them back up, you have to back out of your inventory, walk away, come back and attempt to pick them up again. Sometimes takes multiple tries for it to work. Shotguns - Last time I used a shotgun, slug rounds worked like buckshot. Small bug, this was pre update a week or two ago. But heads up. Morphine - I have heard mixed things , I know it is for broken bones. But players swear it can be used to heal faster. I have not noticed any use personally, could be something to check. Combination Locks - These locks seem to not work, you cannot lock any gates currently. I do not know what the issue is. Cars - Although not a big issue, cars seem clunky and unresponsive. Not a priority however. Lockpicks - Can be used when ruined. A few items like water containers can be. This is all I can think of for now, i'm sure I missed some things. I truly hope you take the time to read this and are able to find some helpful insight :). Please let me know! Thank you all for making this game, it is one of a kind and loved by many. I know people hate, but it really is because they want the game to be better, they love it and want it to do well. And even if they are too angry to offer reasonable criticism, the passion is still there. Good luck with the future, and we hope both platforms can prosper. *EDIT 2 of 2* The water pipes!!! This is rather specific. But do you know the big, rusted grey water pipes that you can find in the swamp near Komarovo, and in the western side of the airfield? They seem to be not there in a way. At the North West Air Field, while getting chased by many zombies, I have had to jump over these big pipes, but zombies can walk straight through them. And while walking on these pipes near Kamarovo in the marsh, I noticed that my players footsteps were sounding like I was walking in the water even though I was on the pipe. I do not know why they are how are, or why zombies can go straight through them. But for the sake of NWAF, please make the zombies have to climb over em :) Thank you again.

Definitely would like to see more nighttime and rain. Nighttime could use a little bit of ambiant light realistically when your in the open. Base building really needs some TLC we have built a 16x24 tower wall but since there's no snap feature some of the rowers block others from being built. Now we have to tear it all down and redo it one at a time for it to work. A simple snap feature for the kits to snap to existing posts would be perfect and make base building a little easier. Lastly I know this isn't a popular opinion but it needs to be looked at. Lock our characters to the servers to stop ghosting and it may even help duping if you work with the timers. (I have discovered a way to dupe without having to sit through the join timers as well so just locking characters won't stop it.)

Xbox Feedback Round - January 2019

So dayz on Xbox, to start this off I want to address the fact I have been hyped for this game coming to Xbox for years and now it’s here I am extremely greatful of what we have and how good the game is. Now with that being said through playing the game I have encountered a few bugs and issues but nothing that annoying. 1. Server hopping/ base ghosting; so I find that a way to solve the problem of people server hopping or ghosting through bases (which finding a base and switching server and then walking to where the base would be on the other server and then switching back so you are inside the base) could be accomplished by dedicated characters for server so you don’t have the same character on every server or at least having a few servers which have dedicated characters. 2. Duping; I realise that this has already been included in your write up above but I feel like it was important to include as it means a lot to players like myself who get killed by someone who has put limited effort into the game but has insane loot and infinite ammo where I loose everything, but I realise you are trying to fix this, just thought I’d include it to show you it is important. 3. Not being able to sprint with some loot; now I’m not very sure if this is to do with what you are carrying in bags and stuff which means you can’t sprint but when I have a mountain backpack on or/and in my hand it won’t let me sprint, small possible issue not very sure just thought I’d address it. 4. Hard to find SMG’s; now I’m not very sure if this was on purpose but I find the amount of SMGs is very limited as I feel I have found more M4s and AKs than SMGs. Or in my case I found a VSD before I found a SMG but then again that was just lucky spawn. 5. Glitchy quick slot menu; now I use the quick menu a lot, when you hold right D-Pad to use equipment quickly, but I have found that doing this has caused my game to crash a couple of times, then again a small thing but is more important to me. 6. Glitcy zombies; so I personally have been killed due to the game lagging about and have found myself stuck in a fence getting hit by zombies and there was nothing I could do, was quite annoying as it cost me my life in that case, but I don’t mind too much just another little bug that occasionally might happen. 7. Car radiator; you can currently only fuel up your car radiator if you stand ontop of the bonnet and look directly at it and not from inventory or from floor. I’m pretty sure that covers most issues for me as you already have the FPS drops included above and other things like glitchy ladders. Overall though I am very greatful for the game and can’t wait to see how the future turns out.

Xbox Feedback Round - January 2019

Nice to finally see you guys have actually heard of us! What a relief. As a gamer I tend to play a game at a time and since the launch day it's been DayZ only and would hope it stays that way. So here's my part. 1. Game (Server) performance (FPS & Rendering, Scope rendering). I know that you know but this needs to be priority no. 1 so please focus on this before adding anything new to the game. This is THE reason people (and me) are losing their interest. Bugs and general game / stability problems: Inventory Laggy performance especially when around tents, barrels, cars, dead players etc... Not being able to scroll UP or DOWN in inventory when a container is closed ^ with RS. Give us the option to lock our clothes preventing any new items to fill them up. Sometimes I wonder why I can't reload just to find out that the apple I just picked up didn't go where I wanted it! Let us micromanage the items inside of the clothes/BP's. Lot of us would want their stuff more organized. At the moment you can't micromanage your items upwards in your personal inventory (LT). Since you can drop an item from your hands by holding X, could we pick up an item from the ground with holding X also (hands empty)? Also swapping an item with the hold of X without the need to open the inventory and use A instead. Quickbar Sometimes instead of selecting the item you want you end up jumping. Very annoying especially because the menu will stop you while being chased by a zombie just to equip your knife and instead you jump and can't equip anything for a brief second. It's like the selection does not register even it's highlighted on the screen. Ladders Can't slide down the ladders LT (Aim/Hands up) Sometimes when approaching a zombie with a knife or any melee weapon and you pull LT and hit RT nothing happens, the character starts to stutter a bit and you need to do the process again in order to hit them. Also when gun in hand and you want to aim with it but it won't let you just like you can't aim during an animation or when falling a step. Could it be related to where you can't pull the LT until your character is "ready"? Even when there's nothing else going on. Here's an example of the ads stutter: https://1drv.ms/v/s!Aqcml2gGd7yMgxXY9E13MGedST_g Gunshots Sometimes you can't hear your friends gunshots. After the update I've had 2 situation where I have or my friend has reloaded a mag and suddenly you hear a gunshot and shit your pants. Don't know if he did for sure. Gameplay and balancing: Clothes getting ruined way too easy from zombie hits IMHO which leads us to the next issue: Duct tape, sewing kits, gun cleaning kits sometimes disappear after one use. It's definitely not where the items are located while repairing I've tested all the possibilities and it seems it just simply depends on the day. Zombies seems to hit you when they're not facing you. They also hit you from a distance that would not be possible to do. They seem to scream but they're not. Zombies can spot you through walls and follow you through walls, is it meant to be like this? Servers, their availability, and general online experience: Ping/Connection Would like to see this in the server browser Server hopping/ghosting Lock the characters! SIMPLE. If not all servers then add the function to few of them. I'd happily queue. And only 1 character per IP-address. Or add increasing timer for every server change. 1,5min -> 5min -> 15min -> 30min Combat logging When getting shot at (or shot), let's say a bullet goes past you around 30 meters, you wouldn't be able to log out until 3-5 minutes have passed. So you have 2 options either fight or run and hope for the best. Just like in real life. If not this then maybe make the loggers yawn or whistle and make it as loud as reloading nowadays! And of course increase the timer to 30 seconds at least. Controls and your overall player experience: Sensitivity settings Seperate settings for different types of aiming. The Mosin and Ak scopes are way too slow compared to the M4's. Y-Button Give back the HOLD (cycle through items) and PRESS (reload) functions. Now the PRESS works as both you never really know which is it going to do. DeadZone I've noticed there's a dead zone on right stick at least. If your aiming at something and you wanna make just a tiny adjustment the game won't let you until you do pass the dead zone. It's been there for a month now. You can try and slightly tilt your right stick and you'll notice it won't move even it's supposed to. It was fine before. Here's my overall suggestion:

Xbox Feedback Round - January 2019

Thank you for asking for my feedback BI! First things first, FPS needs to be fixed ASAP. Big cities are nomans land when this should not be the case. Secondly, car physics need to be fixed. They are always clipping into the ground or flying or what have you. Its a gamble to even drive at all because of the aforementioned frame drops and another issue im adressing next. Third, we have a server lag issue. Many of times I have crashed a vehicle due to this. Also it puts you in riskey situations and can also cause the game to crash. Its not good when you have to make the determination between a really bad server lag and a game crash. I would list the spawning in 3rd person on HC servers but this was I saw was already adressed and known. BUT we do need leaning assigned and we need it soon. First person firefights are way more riskey than a third person one especially when you have to expose half your body to just look around a corner. Dynamic weather and a day/night cycle that is balenced to players liking but also keeps in line with the realism you want is this game. I understand night was lowered to 10 minutes because people were complaining but we have had plenty of time now we should be having at least an hour long night cycle especially since day is about 5 hours long. For this to work the headlamp will also need to be fixed so that the light will actually point in the desired direction when on your character's head. Rain need to be brought back to add varity to the gameplay but if it was removed for an FPS related issue then keep it out until you can sort out the FPS. Truck needs to be added in. We already have the parts just give us the truck. Very minor bug but when crossing over certain creeks that are in a valley type area your player character will get stuck and kind of "swim" in the air. Ive noticed this issue happen at the dam above Electro and other places. Clothing to not clip with characters face and hair. Either make it so theres no clipping or give us character customization so I can make all of my people bald! We need to be able to slide down ladders. Another thing that worked fine till an update came, and now it starts the animation but the player character just kind of juts and thats that. Locking characters to servers. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ADD!! Ghosting and server hopping is out of control on xbox and bases are next to useless. First we have persistence issues we dont need people to ghost into our bases and get rid of our hard work when it is at risk of a wipe at any given time. Thank you for asking for my feedback. It may be a bit overwhelming to read but I wanted to be as specific and clear as possible. Loving the game, keep the updates coming into 2019!

    MS Store, review DayZ please

Got one shotted by an m4 earlier while wearing a pristine combat helmet and plate carrier, dude was server hoping in tisy tents.... Saw him and had the drop on him, i fire first (in full auto mind you) but the gun lagged and only pne shot registered, he then turned 180 n one shotted me... This game is broken AF right now... Would love to play the game as it was meant to be played....no server hoping, no combat ghosting but the way it is now it's a 60 man deatchmatch with no reward for being nice

    Forced metas

Well regardless of how it is addressed, there should be some deterrent to ghosting and server hopping. I think an increasing timer for hopping servers repeatedly would be helpful. Maybe not after the first or second server change but if you are changing a server every 10-15 minutes, then start adding time to join the next server and significantly to discourage people from doing this. Of course it will not eliminate the issue but it will definitely reduce it. However, until something is done, the only solution is avoiding these areas. Once you are looted with something and want to combat this a little... Start killing some hoppers! That is our plan a anyway :-) Once geared we will patrol areas, look for hoppers and take them out, or die trying! :-)

What Is You Ideal Sever To Play On ?

I usually play/played on vanilla servers but since bases and vehicles are currently worthless, I sometimes play on modded servers. I really like the Winter_Chernarus, SnowClothing and Weapon Redux Pack combination. Perhaps combined with the trader to make it not 100 % a PvP fest. Even though it is only a texture a mod, it changes the game a lot and is very refreshing. Unfortunately there are very few 1pp servers with these mods and even in general. In 3pp you have a lot of people camping buildings, peeking in 3pp and waiting for their opportunity, it's utterly horseshit. I will probably play vanilla when everything is back in the game and works correctly. I will most likely switch between Chernarus and Namalsk. Not sure if I want to do this on the public hive since ghosting has become a real issue now with base building. Let's hope they will fix this.
  16. Tropic_Pineapples

    Forced metas

TLDR; Most people don't know how to play the game correctly and shouldn't be expected to. Arguing the ethics of ghosting gets nowhere and we shouldn't be attacking each others' real lives over a game. We shouldn't expect people to play fair/ condemn them, or complain about how these people play. What we can do however, is prevent ourselves from being a victim of it, and take advantage of the current situation whether it be killing hoppers or knowing where to loot while avoiding them. My suggestion for the problem, like others, is an increasing timer OR a timed 5-10minute roll back of data when joining a new server. There's a lot of hate in this thread. Please people, try to remember this is Xbox. While I agree that server-hopping is a cheap way to get looted, it is still generally frowned upon in the Xbox community. However, 1.) the vast majority of the Xbox community isn't on the forums or are new players, so they might not even know how the game is "meant" to be played. 2.) Most people aren't concerned with how the game is meant to be played vs how it is already played. 3.) Calling out people for how they want to spend their time playing, ethically or unethically, doesn't really contribute anything. While it's definitely an exploitation, its an exploitation already in the game. While it's ok to pat yourself on the back for your own moral strength, it's immediately canceled out when you force it on someone else. The thread was "forced metas;" we can argue up and down all day without resolution on the "correct" way of playing so why even bother, especially when people start attacking each others' real lives. It's the internet people.. We can't just call out everything we don't agree with as it obviously leads nowhere. 4.) It shouldn't really be up to the players to decide how to play the game and spend everyone's hours. If someone want's to spend hours, because lets be honest, no matter where you are at, it will take at least a couple of hours, then good job. If someone wants to hop, its still going to take them an hour or two as well and that's ok. Because of the game's current issues, I don't really think we should be arguing how we should play, when the game isn't currently what it should be. Or arguing how anyone should or shouldn't spend the time of their own lives. 5.) Even with server hopping being the game breaking meta it is, the current spawning mechanics help alleviate it to some degree and its unlikely that EVERYTHING will be gone. There are plenty of viable looting spots that just requires maybe a little bit of extra thinking. A good way to get to a virgin server is to put your list to descending and just join a reset server. I never really have a problem playing the "right" way or the "wrong" way, you just gotta use a bit of common sense. People have been arguing since the dawn of time methods to alleviate ghosting, but that doesn't change the fact that its here alive and well. Instead of expecting people to do the right thing, because that's not even what happens in real life, players who have a problem should just adapt to it until a fix is implemented, if ever. Everyone knows the problem, so play accordingly. When I run to a military spot that I know is a good spot to server hop, sometimes I just wait and let the loot come to me. Exploit the exploiters, but its not that serious to be arguing who has jobs, kids, wives, etc etc. Its a game at the end of the day folks. MY SUGGESTION; its already been said by BI that the reason we don't have character locked servers is because it simply takes up too much data, at least on Xbox. What we'll probably get, and what I agree with most, is an incrementally increasing timer when joining new servers. Or my second suggestion is a timed roll back of data. For example, instead of server timer, you get logged back 5-10 minutes of what your status was.

    Server Hopping Fixed?

Yeah, but maybe these restrictions should be imposed only if changing server and not if rejoining the same server. I realise this wouldn't solve ghosting, but would prevent loot hoppers. I would hate to wait fifteen minutes and find myself five kilometers away just because my game crashed out the server kicked me out. I wonder how big an issue ghosting is. I haven't personally had any problems with it though I have read on here people that have. Maybe just the time out which increases incrementally with every server change within an hour? If a ghosting player has to wait to change server, reposition, and then wait longer again to respawn I couldn't see it being a viable strategy.

Please Bohemia can we get character locked servers?

PC That's not the way I play - I play Hardcore - there is a world of DayZ around this planet - my ONE character plays it, takes risks with 5,000 - 50,000 other online players. I don't want to have "several" different characters on different risks in different environments - to me that's just like playing on a LAN. I gear up as I go and then ..what?.. PVP? .. that's short-time play.. I'd rather turn up in a strange place that might be high risk and scout it out, find out what's happening when I hit the ground, if it's empty, if its got hidden stashes, military style police squads, mad players, hunters, bandits, backwoods folk, car freaks, solo artists, It's always a pleasure to be outwitted by a smart player in DayZ, but if you're stuck on one server with only 30 regulars, you don't meet many of those.. SO if there are Shard servers (there are), that's FINE by me, I think a good percentage of PC players want to play that way (you do). If there are plmayers who want to play whitelist only, that's OK, it's just not my thing. Myself I like DayZ the way BI set it up originally, deliberately, where for every X private servers hired out, there had to be one extra open public server provided, on the public Hive. It's fine with me if players who hire servers want them to be Private Shard or Public Hive, either way.. their choice. But the servers I go back to regularly (almost always play on) are Public Hive. If I make a bad move on one I lose on all of them. That's the game. I don't have "plenty safe backup personas" on several different private hives. I just live till I die. Xbox players should have the same opportunity as already exists on PC, where some servers are Shard (private, one character) and some are Public Hive (same character everywhere). Then players would have the same choice PC players have: if they think hoppers are wrecking the game, they can join a private shard. If they want to do <fast gear up and Deathmatch> on Saturday night, they can do that too. Both types of server exist. IMO If all servers were "character locked" I wouldn't play.. I don't want a list of 7 or 30 different characters at different stages and try to remember where I am and what I'm doing and what gear I have on each one, or where I stashed my barrel ? (I just kind of live out of one barrel stashed on one server somewhere on the planet earth) .. nah. I'm ONE player, one personality, I go where I like, I communicate in whatever language the locals speak, bullets, skill, voice, as much as I can, I'm one Toon. So I die when I die. - Put a 1 minute logout timer on DayZ, that would stop ghosting and combat logging. - If you don't like hoppers, go on overwatch and kill hoppers for fun (that's a game too). You know where they will show up. - OR go to a Shard server where there are no hoppers. - OR on open servers don't go where hoppers go. and if you go there, expect them. Plan for them like everything else in DayZ. - OR put a five minute logout penalty if a player leaves a server after less than half an hour. That would slow down hoppers a lot. But all this has been argued through extensively for .. 4 years...??? - For instance, I was pushing for no-log zones about 2 or 3 years ago. * Something should be done for Xbox players to give them the same options PC players have already. xxP

    I lost my R Card

I have been playing the good guy for far too long on this game to not KoS. Too many times I've gone into a "don't shoot, I'm friendly" conversation and shot in the head moments later. I've lost count at being the most geared player and held the best attacking position to have someone spawn behind to not pull the trigger first. Everything you have said is the way I have wanted to play for months but it just doesn't go down like that. The friendly people die first on this game and until ghosting is out of the game, I wont be stopping conversation around someones base. Let me give you an example: Just last week I stumbled on a bambi, stopped to help him out. He said "please don't kill me I've been trying for this spawn for ages". I offered him protection to the next location only for him to get his friend to attack me from another location. I don't trust anyone and that is how this game has taught me to play.

Please Bohemia can we get character locked servers?

I strongly agree that each character should be locked to one server, this would definitely remove the issues with combat logging to move freely then rejoin (ghosting), server hopping and hoarding loot and the largest issue in my eyes.. DUPLICATION. Another game that has this concept is 7 Days To Die, where your characters progression is saved to that specific server.
  21. Firstly Hey and thanks for clicking on the post, I'm a day one console player and have followed SA development since launch on PC. Ive found the main gripes and issues people have with console DayZ SA other than bugs and content updates are server hoppers and people ghosting into bases or ghosting combat positions mid fire fight. On PC this issue was fixed with community servers, what console would call private servers. On many of these community servers characters are locked to that specific server which completely stops anyone server hopping for loot or better positioning on an enemy combatant or base. It seems to me like a win win situation for Bohemia interactive to either allow private servers with a subset of server options for character lock, POV, Loot table timers etc or simply bring out official BI Servers with character locks enabled until a decision on private server availability for the console community is made. this post is not a criticism or a demand but a plea from a player who wants to play this unique game the way the majority of the PC Community already get to play it. take a look at the player figures for private hive servers versus vanilla BI Servers on PC, nobody wants to PVP, RP or base build on a server that someone can jump into with an hours of server hopping loot or server hop directly into your base. You have the power to eliminate this issue instantly for the player base that wants a true hardcore survival experience, I wait with baited breathe. if you agree with me please like or press the beans icon to draw attention to this post for the devs. Thankyou for your time.

    Forced metas

Basically server hopping is taking the easy option, if yu wanna get a quick kill thrills legitimately then there's other games that cater to that market. At the end of the day once community servers come to console with characters locked servers this conversation will become moot. the people who wanna play the game the ways it's meant to be played , as in a struggle, time consuming and skill based will choose character locked servers and the b*tches can stay on standard servers. There's a reason hardly anyone plays on standards DAYZ servers on PC because of server hoppers and people ghosting into bases. If you can't server hop you can't ghost into someone's base or farm loot like an impatient child. The player numbers on servers will prove me right, people don't like cheaters & cheatin through frustration just shows how morally weak you are in my opinion.

    Is this okay

If you actively witnessed the player you were in combat with log and rejoin in another position (ghosting) then I'd argue that grabbing there loot and bouncing is fair game, the other player pulled a scumbag tactic before you did. There are no rules, only things frowned upon or things that are deemed as scummy or noobish as follows. Logging during combat is seen as exceptionally noobish cowardly behaviour. Server hopping for better positioning or for loot is deemed scumbag tactics. Server hopping into someone's base or position of fire is scummy. glitching into building models to peek through walls in TPP is scummy. force re spawning of loot for any purpose is scummy. shooting unarmed fresh spawns or players with weapons holstered is scummy, especially the former. playing with no mic is seen as noobish behaviour also, on PC rule of thumb is 'no mic, no life' and the first player they encounter will most likely send them back to the coast as soon as it's obvious there mute, makes sense. You can't trust someone you can't talk too. that about wraps it up, most people will do all of the above and still sleep soundly at night & think there an amazing DayZ hero like Frankie on PC in 1080p whilst they spend an hour server hopping from military base to base to get fully kitted the little b*tch way only to encounter the one friendly player on there low pop server & shoot him on sight without a word through fear of losing all that Ill gotten loot that they didn't deserve in the first place. I love dayz but 95% of the player base are scrubs, atleast you asked if your behaviour was gross.
  24. I would really love to see the game introduce server locking characters. As a player that enjoys the true essence of this game, survival, I hate it when I see server hoppers and ghosting in the game. If it means I have to wait in a line to get in, then so be it. I can handle bugs in the game, that doesn't frustrate me but people meta gaming takes the fun out of the game. This isn't some Rick and Morty parallel words shit. This is DayZ. You should never be punished for having the best position in a gun fight only to have Neo from the Matrix spawn on you out of nowhere. BI please look into this... or let Xbox players buy servers.
