    Any date confirmed for vehicles being introduced?

    Having "driveable" vehicles in the game doesn't mean you'll be driving them around. At least it'll give something for players to strive for. In the original DayZ mod, vehicles were fairly rare, to the point where people started hosting their own servers with "100/500/max" vehicles set, so you'd have a chance to find something in literally every town.
  3. Come join NDA's server that includes loads of ai mission's with intelligent ai that have a dead on shot and will even try to flank you. The reward is great and the risk even greater. You can find the custom areas of that map at kamenka, Cherno, NW airfield, NE airfield, and stary trader center.Vehicles are all over the map and we have medium strength armed vehicles such as BTR's, Jackals, LAV's, and etc. (no tanks, attack helicopters, or jets). Missions vary from weapon caches, NATO weapon caches, bandit medical outpost, medical outpost, Plane cargo drops and crashes, and many others. We plan to add many more cities and military like areas around the map to create a more interesting Chernarus experience. With a toolbox on spawn you are able to get going right away with the toolbox to bike script. The load out consists of a G17, cooked meat, water bottle, painkillers and morphine, toolbox, map, hatchet, and flashlight. It's easy to gear up and get going which makes for a more enjoyable experience Spread the word and help us get this server started! No plot pole required for building. You can buy a evac chopper for your base that will pick you up off the coast or wherever you happen to be.   4. I don't get why people are so gung ho about vehicles, does walking/running across the map bother people that much? I could see basic transportation like a bicycle later on in development but if you add in vehicles, now you're talking a whole new set of items to add to the loot table like gasoline and car parts. One thing at a time, let the dev team work on fixing the existing issues with the game. I may be wrong, I usually am but I can only see a few reasons why some think vehicles are needed. Reason #1 drive bys, reason #2 to get back to your bullet riddled corpse before server restart or someone comes along to relieve you of your items but just let it be man, you can acquire more lewt even on a medium to high pop server and last but not least... bait car. I've seen too many people fall for this one when I was a server admin for the mod, quite hilarious actually.

    Some suggestions to improve gameplay

    Hello!, I've been playing for weeks and I want to share some suggestions I have. I know that Dayz is on alpha stage and I know too about searching on this forum. This thread is about gameplay and not only 1 suggestion. If you like some suggestions please share your opinion about it to improve gameplay and find real solutions. Shall we start? Important: Know who are our friends in combat.​ - Green name on the top (like every MMO out there). - Green circle on the ground. // This is really important, we keep asking "is that you?" all day to everyone. If we know who are our friends in combat, gameplay will be more effective. HP bar or Health bar.​ - At the bottom of the screen where the fast-shortcuts are. // We need to know how is our health all time, will be helpful to survive. Be able to choose where to respawn. - Visible map to choose where we want to respawn (maybe not for cities, but near spots or cities too). // This will be a huge change, the world is bigger than Elektro and Balota. If we can choose where to respawn the enviorment will be more balanced and not only 1 city. Be able to add friends to steam.​ - Right-click on players screen -> view steam profile. - Add one option to action-menu where hide-body is -> view steam profile. // Will be great to improve gameplay and network, making new friends or enemies. Time in-game (server time).​ - Bottom-right on the edge or near the hp bar or even on the top-left. // Great to know the respawn time. Not "THAT" important: Different climates.​ - Hot high temperature: Thirsty more often, exhausted, run slower. Visual effects as well like no clouds and "water illusion far away". Wailing sound on our character. - Hot normal temperature: All normal. - Cold low temperature: Hungry more often, numb, run slower. Visual effects as well like snow or snow storm. Breathing animation with "smoke" - Cold normal temperature: All normal. - Wet heavy rain: Sick more often, hypothermia, run slower. Visual effects as well like heavy rain, poor vision and water drops with some blur on the character, real rain. Sneezing. - Wet normal rain: All normal. // This will improve gameplay and the enviorment to survive. Wet stage could appear together with hot-high or cold-low or alone if there're normal climates. // We need to know the temperature, maybe with new gear or maybe on our interface in-game. // Wailing, breathing and sneezing will do noise and other players can hear it, great for inmersion, gameplay and enviorment. Traps, all kind of traps.​ - Bear trap: Broken leg. - Landmines: Dead. - Baits: For players or even wild-animals. - Rope traps: Restrict movement. - Wokitoki: Voice trap (I know that there're wokitokis in-game but not really sure if they're working). - More. // Traps are really good for inmersion and improve gameplay, even the enviorment. New strategies for survival. Doors lock. - Maybe a global key for some buildings or special item to lock some doors and unlock as well. // Will be awesome to lock and unlock some doors, great for inmersion and gameplay. Binoculars.​ - Low-range: Not big deal. - Medium-range: Normal loot. - High-range: High loot // Gameplay will be more smooth, great for inmersion. More tools to fix ruined/badly damaged/damaged gear like scopes.​ - Special tool or even new individual parts to fix it. // Not easy to find it but easier than finding new gear. New clothes, weapons, gear.​ // This probably will be added soon, but is not good only 3-4 weapons in-game. New food/drink/etc.​ // Same here. Trains working.​ - Maybe a way to fix it and use it or maybe all time working (only with a player "drive"). // Great for travel long distances for now (new vehicles will be added soon). Better nights. // We always avoid night, and is frustrating. Where is the moon?, the real moon do some reflect from the sun but here is no vision at all 100% black. // Would be awesome to have some "electric building" and can turn it ON/OFF at night to have at least some public light at the streets or not. Gear stats.​ - Boots: Add +5 to movement speed - (high-end loot). - Gloves: Add +5 to accuracy to any weapon - (high-end loot). - Glasses: Add +5 to vision - (high-end loot). - Kevlar vest: Resist 5 shots - (not on the head / high-end loot). - Helmet: Resist 5 shots on the head - (high-end loot). // Some examples of what I say, stats on high-end loot will be great. Also stats will change depending on gear condition. // Pristine = 5 stats, worn = 4 stats, damaged = 3 stats, badly damaged = 2 stats, ruined = 1 stat. Molotovs.​ // Be able to turn on fire a building would be extremely awesome (server respawn will fix the building). Thermal sensor and night vision. // Great for survive. Red name on bandits.​ // Red name with 1 hour cooldown per kill. Achievements.​ - Survive X hours. - Kill X players. - Loot X gear. - Locations. // All kind of achievements like other game out there with A LOT of achivements, small, big, easy, hard.

  7. Id be a touch more concerned if there was more to do than loot a mosin, an attachment, clothes and food. I mean without tents even server hoppers dont mean a shit at the moment cause no one can really horde loot. Once vehicles and tents are involved that changes things a bit as I would hate to spend hours or days fixin up a vehicle when someone can just chain restart their server and get what he needs that way. I think its a valid concern however cannot be an important issue at the moment when there is hacking and gameplay issues still to be dealt with. Also getting upset that it is currently a gamebreaking issue that some people are able to loot faster seems like a drastic reaction, considering I can join a low pop server and run around for an hour or two and have almost everything the game can offer me at the moment. Meh, bigger fish to fry at the moment IMO.
  8. its not unjust though , we been playing long enough we have had the promises the what will happens and even after all this time the projects no better off than the mod. in many ways its worse ! the worst kicker is people are playing with cracked versions with vehicles in while us with paid versions sit here with multiple hats :lol: you cant make this shit any funnier.

    the one thing I hope they add but they won't that would be the ultimate sick thing to do to a survivor. ok so when vehicles get added you get 2 cars you attach the legs to one and the arms to another then you slowly drive in opposite directions. quartering the poor bastard then you can drive around with half of them dragging from your car. hows that for sick. now if you had four cars twice the pain.

    because you cant spawn in items currently, you can only teleport items to you, theres also a few scripts that are easy to make where you can spawn in a few vehicles
  11. Again, I dont care there's a Dev tracker, or that they have their personal twitter accounts, reddit and whatnot.. This is the official forum, this is where information SHOULD be. I don't want to have to click to 3 or 4 different pages to read what 3 or 4 different people post. There is a development TEAM, there is an OFFICIAL forum, let that TEAM post what they're doing a few times per week. If thats a post that sums up whats already on the other 3 or 4 pages, fine. Right now, the only thing the forum is being used for, is people asking when the vehicles are being added, asking when the next patch is going to hit stable, and to complain about bugs. ( which should be on the feedback tracker, not here ) Forums are for information, and sharing thoughts on whatever the forum is created for, in this case DayZ. I come here for information, not to be hyperlinked to other pages for information that should be here

    Pistols and mags

    The only thing I disagree with you guys in this debate is that you are applying society rules as they apply today to dismiss his idea, not society as it would exist after the world has gone to hell and law has lost its power. I agree to a degree with both sides. We should still find some military/police vehicles/bulidings and some houses untouched by looters with good quality firearms locked in gun safes with mags and ammo stored seperately(you will need to gain access to them first). The majority of firearms however should be found in a poorer condition found with dry mags that have been abandoned, stock piles of guns/ammo found in infected overrun safe houses, old shotguns/rifles found in truck cabs and farm houses, and ones that may need a lot of work to get functioning found on randomly placed container style bodies throughout the map. Currently to me the only environmental immersion breaking gripe I have is the game feels too much like most of the world disappeared into thin air with a few becoming zombies overnight, then the players showed up.

As someone may know, am originally from a small country town in Central Russia, where I got artistic education, and along the way experimented with level design as mod-maker. Before beginning work on DayZ Standalone, me together with fellows from Awar Studio, which one we founded, and with help of X1 software, worked on the project "Iron Front: Liberation 1944" - which is from ordinary modification for ArmA-2 one day became a commercial project. They nice people and I still keep in contact with them. "Iron Front" gave me the opportunity to do a favorite job. After that I joined to DayZ team, where I working at the moment. This is a unique experience for me. Q: When not designing for Chernarus+ what do you enjoy doing in your spare time? A: Actually my leisure hardly differs from the average citizen leisure i belive I playing games, spend time on nature for inspiration, communicate with friends. And of course i'm dancing Kalinka-Malinka wearing valenki. Just kidding. Q: What kind of sweet jams do you enjoy listening to while designing the environment? A: He-he may seem wierd, but while working I prefer to listen audiobooks. Although recently it becomes harder and harder to found something interesting . Q: The new/re-worked towns have been simply amazing, how long would you say it takes to develop these amazing places for survivors to get lost in? Do you have a favorite town thus far? (I have to admit, I'm very partial to Zelenogorsk, just beautiful) A: Thank you. You know, I have one trait, I very rarely like the result of my own work, maybe it's perfectionism, but I find it very difficult to stop myself. Every time I look at own work I start thinking about how to change everything to make it better In average, a city with textures takes 2-2.5 weeks. The village takes 1.5-2 weeks. Q: We all know that the North is currently being developed, care to share with us how that's going? Anything in particular you're excited about that you're willing to share? A: Work on the north territories runs in normal mode, soon another designer will join us, and i think the job will go faster. I look forward when I can start working on the largest cities of the north (let's name will be a secret :)) but I can say that will be quite rich industrial area. Now on to question from the community. Don't hesitate to remove questions you guys aren't willing to answer, I know the drill. Q: Any plans to add a sense of abandoned despair to the environment? Such as: traffic jams, abandoned camps in the woods, indications of intense struggling when the "outbreak" occurred, evacuation zones? I'm willing to bet that this is a combo question between yourself and the artists who would have to create objects for your placement, but it was something that came up a lot on the subreddit. A: At the moment we have a lot of plans on how to diversify and improve the environment in the game. Already prepared a huge list of objects that 3D artists will perform throughout the year. Certainly game world will gradually be filled with nice stuff that will help enrich the atmosphere. Q: Can we expect more islands scattered about the map? A: Depends on how many swimming means we will have in the future. Personally, I would prefer more lands instead of the sea. Q: Are there any other buildings coming that'll be sprinkled throughout the map (like police stations and hospitals)? A: Of course! It was only the first step. In the future, we can expect extending the functionality of the old cities, and more interesting buildings. Q: Any plans to give the map more of a dynamic feel in the future? Such as probability %'s on the damaged vehicles or random "events" such as a downed heli (like the mod). A: Who knows Some simple yes/no questions. Q: Is Cherno/Elektro "finished" from a map design perspective? A: Let's say ... If I will have time I am pleased remade them. Just at the moment we are trying to focus on the creating of new cities. Q: Will the actual size of the map ever increase? A: Unfortunately we are limited by the physical size of map that was set at the Chernarus for Arma 2 (15.360km x 15.360 km) long time ago, perhaps in the future we will find a way to extend the border, but right now talking about it too early. Q: Have you guys thought of locations for your next bad ass terrain? A: :P Q: Will one of the new northern cities be close to Cherno/Elektro size? A: Yep, i can ensure you, if all goes according to plan, the northern zone will have at least two cities with Cherno / Elektro size.   14. this thread and many patch threads make me sad each time i come in to see nothing is going or as fast as it should. i come in every day with just a hope that something of real worth happening is here, i look and all i see is just uneventful. as said so details on how core features are going not small items. fps is about same and we have even got things working or in game like vehicles and or items which will worsen performance. are we waiting for a something which just wont materialize ? out of last few patches i cant think of anything much thats made me or people want to play standalone. different hats (yes i know the team all dont just sit making hats) but in last two months how has this game really moved on ? core features still arnt in zombies arnt much better no vehicles or evn a little preview of a skin or item.
  15. What a bunch of BS. Please stop spreading this ungrounded and idiotic statement. Anyway, someone mentioned cars not being in there, and people are already hacking... It's not about vehicles in the game or not.. It's the development of the game. It's still in early development, hence it is more easily accessible by scripts and other exploits. Give it time. I hope they will come with a fix soon, however truth be told, these things can take quite some time.

That is a skill tree you've just described. ;) I think there are a few key things that shouldn't be affected by a skill tree, and of those I feel maybe stamina and firing accuracy should be excluded. You don't want the situation where a bambi spawning is not able to run as fast or shoot a gun as well as an experienced player as that would give too much of an imbalance in terms of gameplay. IMO anyway. What should be included are certain tasks, like learning how to start fires, do certain medical tasks, ability to operate certain vehicles, etc.

    Appreciate your insight. So what you are saying is that its much more normal to have 30 to 60 people on a game project and highly unusual to have 218. If that is true then I see your point.i just hope you guys are right. If Dayz's serious core problems are not fixed soon, we will never see vehicles or maybe even a finished game. The hype may die down Before its worth finishing. Im worried.

    Well, one doesn't go without the other, because if you get a reward for surviving longer and it is gone when you die, death is more punishment... As omgwtf said..the devs stated in the Q&A from the 20.02 this: ...but however, this will be in for a lot of things, but not for any combat-related. Edit: hm.....I was thinking about a timer that only comes into play if you die within an hour of spawning, but, well...that would only encourage the coastsnipers ;) Well "extensive player interaction with the environment" can eman anything. From hunting to barricading, to building, to repairing vehicles to cutting down trees. (And at least the first 4 things have been confirmed to be in sooner or later)...so...yeah. :)
  19. The Cold War saw many different buildings to help both the East and West should hostilities, specifically nuclear war break out. These include shelters, extensive bunkers and submarine bases. Chernarus, while not Russian itself could very well have sided with them during the Cold War and allowed Russia to build a submarine base, on their land. That is my idea, a Soviet Era submarine base, specifically for repairing submarines somewhere in Chernarus. Backstory: While the backstory for the base can change the basic idea would be as follows: During the Cold War Russia builds this secret submarine base on the east coast of Chernarus, to help its military/spying efforts. It is manned by Russia till the end of the Cold War, when it is abandoned by the Russian military who no longer need it. After a short stint of being abandoned, it is repaired and inhabited by the Chernarus military who use it for their submarines. Once the infection hits, it becomes a base of operations for the military, as well as a haven for civilians till it is over tun and the military either did or retreat. Location: It would need to be on the east coast to gain access to the sea, and would need to be close to towns, and in a mountainous area, so it is easier to hide. Somewhere up North would be best, perhaps somewhere close to the NEAF. What would it look like? I think it would be cool if it was based off of this Underground Sub Base at Balasklava, though it's design can change based on what size it will be etc. http://englishrussia.com/2011/11/05/underground-submarine-base-of-balaklava/ What kind of loot would be available? This is where the repair part of its name comes in. Along with loot expected of a military run area (guns ammo, clothing) it would have parts to repair cars, boats and other such vehicles. This would make sense, as a place like this would be expected to have these types of items.It may also be an area where you could find (if something like this is implemented) information on what happened in Chernarus, during the out break. This could include documents, recordings, reports and the like. Will there be a Submarine? Can I ride it? I think there should be a submarine, but it should just be for show and not for joy rides. Not only may it be impossible with the engine, but it is kind of pointless, unless used for spying on boats or bases near the water. People should be able to enter and loot the submarine but not much more, exct maybe use the periscope. Feel free to comment on my idea, and ask any questions about it. Thanks for reading!

    Handcuffing people to something

    -----EDIT----- For the people that don't know, if you log out with handcuffs on, you get killed, so it wont ruin the game even when you get hydrated/energized to full so you will survive for a long time, you can just log out and respawn--------Back to the description-----Like the title says, you should be able to handcuff people to something, for example fence, you can still get them off by struggling, but you can move a lot (max 2 steps yh i know not a lot but i dont think it would make sense if you could move around when hancuffed to something) with vehicles it could be a good fun having a bandit handcuffed to your car back and just him sliding on the road and attach a sign onto him saying "This is gonna happen to all bandits :)" Just a good way to use bandits instead of just killing them, and them having a pain so they would stop, yeah has its plusses and minuses, thanks for reading, write below what you think.
  21. Hello, everyone! I'm InfraRed, I've been hosting a popular Epoch server, when I heard about Unleashed. This mod, Unleashed. It's insanely crazy! They've got an AI Island right? Well, in 1.0 they'll have random spawning boxes with tons of high end gear in it! I'd come join now to start getting geared up and to see this mod evlolve with a great community, and even great administration. What's great about this mod, is it's not too easy. It's like DayZ 2017, just not 2017. The loot tables have been configurated, AI Roams from foot, to vehicles, Helicopters, 'Sanctuary' and just wait to see the future for it! Our server, has infiSTAR anti-hack, and we plan to add some more things, but we need to procation it regarding ruining the AI roams and such.     Dayz - In real life (how would you act)

    I would take a much, much different approach. At first, I'd get the necessary needs to survive. Food, water, utensils, weapons, ammunition, and other various stuff. But I'd much rather begin to stockpile weapons, military vehicles, aircraft, and fuel. I'd look for uniforms, you'd need a professional look to pull it off. From there on, I'd make sure to have a large, walled compound (NG armory, prison, school), and from there on I'd "recruit" people for the cause. We would build sustained food through agriculture and hunting, and would refrain from looting food for the sake of other survivors. From there on, we'd make sure to take in anyone we found. Once we get sufficient numbers, we begin clearing the area of zombies. Start with small towns, feed stations, lone country homes and forests, and manage to keep a several hundred square mile area clear for operations and resettlement. We'd set up a trading post, some form of currency, and begin to retake the wasteland. Someone has to save humanity.

    Medic Helmet and other forms of visual ID

    Only thing we put the international signage on now are vehicles and buildings really, same with almost every other modern army. Medics generally have a "personal protection weapon" so we can't bare the emblem unless it's in an aid station or humanitarian help where we're tasked to treat and you can bet your ass I'd carry mine if I was tasked out to Chern, that's all really irrelevant to the game and atmosphere though. That aside I'm down for entire "costumes", would add some spice.
