  1. Good ideas sir! About spawning - if I understood it right, Dean 'Rocket' Hall wants to make some sort of dynamical spawning of everything, not just scripted. So I guess items (vehicles too) would respawn in conditions of some certain rules.
  2. Fuck man why can't they add in special car mods too? I want an suv with a steel push plate on the front with tire spikes and a 50 cal mounted gun on the back, flamethrowers on all 4 sides, rocket launchers in the headlights, and shark launchers from all windows. Well maybe not that far but just a little bit. On another note, vehicles were not that bad in the mod. They got damaged pretty easy and wouldn't respawn until server restarts. One thing they could do different is, that in the mod even though you had gas, it seemed like you would rarely ever run out. Just make fuel more rare and burn faster, so if you want to go on long trips, you would have to stock up and/or find some along the way.
  3. Vehicles should be as rare as they are in real life. Hmm they should be everywhere. They should also not all be functioning most would need some type of repair.
  4. Damn ArmA 3 is too expensive, even for these like experiments with vehicles and other stuff. So sad.

    DayZ with an Xbox controller

I can see why some would prefer the pad. I use mine more for games like skyrim or driving sims. One thing I will give arma is that they do well on heli controls considering m+k is a bit crap for vehicles. Having pitch and roll on the mouse is really nice for hugging the terrain. Cars are always a pain in the ass on keyboard though lol But I wouldnt blame the accel, that has virtually no effect once your used to it, easy enough to 360 in under a second in SA. And thats where pads get my blood boiling on shooters. When I hit that max turn speed I get so frustrated lol

    DayZ with an Xbox controller

Good job, you have my beans. I'm not a big fan of controllers but I'll probably hook one up when vehicles get in-game. Thanks man.

I dont understand why there is no AUTO RUN KEY!!!

It will be less of an issue when the game is finished. Vehicles, re-spawning loot, ect. You wont 'need' to run 40km to get whatever you want.
  8. twizzm

    fist up sprinting no longer?

Sadly, I miss it and wish it was around til vehicles or at least a bicycle. I did notice you get fist like run speed fully health, energized, and hydrated
  9. benri

Which vehicles would you want to see in DayZ?

vehicles will be useless. easy to find and steal them, easy to spot driving players... and the map feels so small... you can run everywhere.
  10. Ultra7

I dont understand why there is no AUTO RUN KEY!!!

*Sigh* Another fanboy. Why are you making excuses for the dev's?!. Not having an autorun key is blatantly ridiculous with a map this big. There's no vehicles yet, so why the hell shouldnt we have one?! I cannot, and will not EVER understand the logic to your thinking. Stop being a sheep and grow some balls. Please devs, for the love of God, give us an autorun key.... For the "its not supposed to have one, its not an arcade game" people: It just to save you having to hold down the key for bloody hours, where's the harm in that for Christsake?!!! -its just a computer game?!
  11. Hi, i looking this on the forum, but i can not find it. Is there somewere official list of weapons/vehicles available on the public hive?
  12. Grimey Rick

    fist up sprinting no longer?

They could have at least waited to fix it until they added fucking vehicles.

Which vehicles would you want to see in DayZ?

The issue I'm sitting on here is the ease of base discovery an elevated line of sight provides. You'll have flown in the mod - you know just how easy it is to see tents, vehicles, or in the appropriate mods, houses, once you're in the air. Nothing is hidden. Everything becomes obvious once you're overhead, and I don't think there's any kind of camouflage feature that could properly disguise a base or stash when you opposition can see from the sky - and most of the terrain around said stash or base is regular enough to make an inconsistently glaringly obvious, especially with the terrain textures not loading up unless you're less than thirty metres away. Again, I love aircraft... I just don't think they should be in the vanilla game. They'll definitely make it into the modded variants that are inevitably going to come to DayZ - demand will be too high for them not to be. DayZ's sub-version modders are a bit looser on game balance, and so you know what you're going for if you pick up a mod with aircraft. If it's in the original game, though... they're going to have to do something about the ease with which you can find bases. There's no point trying to hide them otherwise. And before anyone says it, rarity of aircraft isn't going to change a thing - it'll just mean one or two groups have all the air vehicles stashed away somewhere you can't find without one, and nobody will see any outside their control after the first few days of server uptime. It happens on every single server. In the event that flight is added, the danger element would be a good balancer, but not enough of one, I think. There would need to be other factors, and that alone makes having the vehicles in the game at all nearly not worth it... after all, shouldn't all vehicles have a possibility of engine failure, due to rust/other maintenance issues that cannot be easily solved without the appropriate equipment?
  14. Adressing survivors as well as devs, ''How to allow every survivor to experience his or her ''own story'' as Dean wrote when launching the mod two years ago?'' ''How two add immersion & emotional engagement to the game?'' Right now it's most likely running around, finding supplies and sooner or later get shot. But is that how an apocalypse, a really extreme situation would affect psyche & mind of a sruvivor? I guess not! Wandering trough an abandoned countrysite knowing that probably most people are dead would probably make you wonder about what happened, why it happened, where everyone is gone and so on. This is no single player game with an outstanding story, composed to fill every seconf of following a campaign. But why not using the intense basis of a bio hazard, a disease and the struggling fight to survive? Add some loose & discontiguous hints for the player to discover and to experience. Some hints about the infestation, some hints about the DayZ when everyone tried to flee and the military had to withdraw, completly overstrained. Adding this feeling of anxiety and woeful loneliness adds depth and inspires the players imagination. 1. Integrate radio transmissions I have to admit that i really liked the idea of the Green Mountain transmission, even though it was faked. Would really like to add some radio messages in russian language (with subtitles translating them) like the famous Green Mountain transmissions. Some examples Add some short military ones stating a gps position such as ''[...] Position is [... ]054 [...] 088. anyone [...] reciving [....] Please [...] answer, we have to abandon [...]. [...] head to NW[...].'' When following the coordinates you'll find an abandoned Ural truck in the forrest. You can gather some loot around, maybe find zombies ... etc. ''[...] Commander Seldowi[...] Report to [...]. our [...] position is [transmission stops here]''. Add some transmission from a helicopter or plane which tried to flee the outbreak stating coordinates ''[...] close to town xy [...] one [...] wounded, proba...[...] bitten. Approaching coordinates 084.051 [...]. Help...[transmission stops]'' or ''This is [...] transport squad[...]. Malfunction [...] have to land at [...] 088.09[...]''. You'll have to find the exact position and can find infected soldiers and loot there. Add amateur radio operator calls or messages stating the position of a camp or just the try to reach family members, military, someones else or survivors finding a completly abandoned Chernarus. ''[...] Michail and me are alive. Left [...]gorsk. Trying to head west. [...] if you are ali[...] follow. Meet at [...][ends]'' or ''Calling from ... [...] everyone gone. No more food [...] lost Nikolai. [...] hope [transmission stops]''. These are just adding story or a linking to coordinates with a small camp in the woods (make it interesting to search the forrest areas). Always add noise and interferences or background noise. Add some completly incomprehensible transmission such as music like in the beginning of the Green Mountain transmissiom or voices in foreign languages, completly choppy. Being in a certain area around one of the radio towers you can recive the randomly sended messages with your radio by selecting the correct frequency. Mysterious, isn't it? Also makes you a bit said hearing about these peoples fates. 2. Add short diaries Discover what someone already wrote about their experiences and fate during or before the outbreak. Find them in all kind of houses or barracks. They give you a better understanding of what happened and make searching houses more fun. They can also link to some small camps stating that the inhabitants competly pulled back from their village and try to survive in the woods or just help creating the anxious and said atmosphere that I mentioned above. Something the community may work on....? 3. Add hordes Would be cool to trigger an horde event on the map by reciving a military radio transmission such as ''Near town xy [...]. Get [... ]overrun. four surv[...] Can't hold [...]''. If you discover the mentioned town, village, camp you'll find plenty of zombies which are starting to wander around the map. Combining some of these ideas you could find hordes at position mentioned prior in the radio messages such as abandoned vehicles etc. These are aspects that are focused on endgame content! Still would be cool to find these suggestions ingame one day because they'd definteley become an unique selling proposition and enrich the gameplay and games atmosphere! I dont understand why there is no AUTO RUN KEY!!!

hey If they want an auto run key it wouldnt be hard for the devs to put in .... BUT seeing there plan is quite a detailed stamina system im betting once that is in you will want to um save ya running for when someone is shooting at you... Although it will be amusing to see guys trying to use auto run and ending up walking cause there out of breath un able to run when they need it.... Burning there energy having to eat more when food gets harder to find struggling to shoot back without there gun shaking cause there completely tired gasping for breath.. Doubt they will land that before vehicles though but sure while endless run is possible you would enjoy it.... I look forward to plenty of slow moving targets ( wow sniping just got alot easier)

    scenario servers

DayZ is an awesome sandbox game, but I'm concerned that just running around and gearing up a character is going to get old after a while... WHAT IF you could sign onto a special server that was running a special scenario? I've put down a few ideas below. But to make them work, you might need to tweak how the game behaves on these servers. For example, perhaps no respawns? The server populates the map with X many weapons, backpacks, foodstuff, etc and that's it. Or perhaps the characters never really log out... You're stuck on that server until you either die or quit (and imagine if your character still burned energy and water while they slept...) Or Zombie bites are way more infectious, or the servers are locked an hour after game start to keep folks from hopping in later... Here are some ideas for scenarios: Last man standing. Be the last survivor out of X many players. By any means necessary. 14-Day Nightmare. You must survive 14 days with no respawns. The server randomly generates gear, food, wildlife, berries, zombies (lots and lots of zombies) at the kickoff of the scenario and that's it. You must figure out how to survive for 14 days. Russian Invasion. Play as either one of 80 survivors starting as fresh spawns or one of 20 Russian troops, fully geared, with orders to kill everyone on the island. Give the survivors a can of beans to start, but give the soldiers weapons, gear, ammo and even working vehicles and night-vision gear to start. Escape. The goal is to build a working radio tower out of materials and parts you find on the island, broadcast a signal, and get picked up by a helicopter. Before you get eaten by zombies, die of starvation, or killed by another player... But why do this to yourself, you ask? One, for the challenge of it, two, for something new, and three, perhaps for the bragging rights? Was thinking that as a reward for winning or completing a scenario your account gets access to a special tattoo that you can display on all future characters, showing that your a badass and all that. And if you really want to get into tattoos, you could have one for doing a scenario "cleanly" and another for doing is a bit on the "bloody" side. If you know what I mean... :-) Anyways, give it some thought and please, no knee-jerk flames. I'm not advocating we do this across ALL servers, just a few special ones.

    DayZ SA vs. DayZ mod

i can´t wait for vehicles in the SA
  19. Wolfguarde

2 Things that should be implemented ASAP

Absolutely not. I'll explain for the others who are pretty much tearing this down without saying why: The difficulty factor added by not being able to navigate properly is part and parcel of the game's challenge. You actually have to get to know the map, learn it the hard way. Yeah, I know - it's annoying as hell to begin with. It's still pretty annoying even when you know the landmarks. But it makes the game interesting, and ensures there's always a chance you'll wind up somewhere you didn't intend to go. The most interesting adventures are the ones that happen off the beaten track. As for your second suggestion... the game strives for realism, or at least authenticity. Teleports are something that should and will stay in Minecraft - it's the sort of game where they're convenient almost to the point of necessity with world size, but in DayZ - especially with vehicles on the way, albeit slowly - it just isn't necessary, nor conductive to an immersive game experience.
  20. r3volution (DayZ)

My gear is starting to haunt my game.

I know what you mean. I've only played 80 hours or so of the standalone but I've definitely run into this issue. I think it just stems from the fact that its a game where the content and narrative etc is all player driven, if there's no real player organisation or ability to do bigger things than just troll around looking for gear and dodging zombies solo or in small groups then that narrative and content can be a bit shallow. This is especially exaggerated by the lack of tents which are significant in that they allow the players to create a 'permanent' presence in the world and set down roots. If everyone is forced into the role of psychotic nomad with everything on their back and constantly wandering from place to place shooting people it's not surprising that people feel like they've 'run out of things to do'. Once people can start placing tents and repairing vehicles (always good to have things to do which encourage a bit of cooperation) then I expect it will get better. That and adding more zombies, the almost extinct chernarussian zombies are less an environmental threat than an endangered species in need of conservation. ;) In reference to the changes in player behaviour (i.e some locations are weirdly deserted and others are oddly populous) I had put that mainly down to the spawns, but Svetlojarsk may have also affected this. More people spawning away from the coast zone completely changes the traditional 'inward migration' type of player movement. So areas like Krasnostav which were very deserted in the mod have become high traffic areas thanks to spawns south of Berezino, while the removal of the military camp at Stary Sobor has lessened the player numbers there a bit. It's fascinating to see how much of a knock on effect these changes have to player movements. It would be amazing to be able to watch the movements of all players on a server on a map to see how different those movement patterns have become from the mod days.
  21. I guess I'll keep trying to reveal stuff in the game files like vehicles and new stuff. :D
  22. It's time I made whining thread. I'm angry but not drunk yet. Now, you know know that I ported DayZ Chernarus+ to Arma 3, and start looking around the game files, I revealed 1 or 2 vehicles and posted them on a thread. But, you know what? It's actually having gear that made me leave DayZ. I've played for 125 hours, I've had it ALL. I've even traveled to castles and interesting spots on the map just to see them. But NOW there's really nothing to do. I've fully geared up with a group, without groups. Fully geared on both Regular and Hardcore. Look at this. Look. I roamed around NWAF for an HOUR or TWO in FULL servers expecting some action, or for someone to kill me, or take my gear. What NOW? THE HELL DO I DO WITH ALL OF THAT? There is no one. You know, this game is fun. But there's a point when it's all the same once you've geared up. But shit's really weird these days. Why is there no one in NWAF?

    Handcars

Sitting at the top of a hill outside of Chernogorsk, I peer through my scoped rifle scouting the distance around the hills just north of the city. I lay picking off anyone coming around the bend of the hill. I spot two people on the railway track, moving at speed where it is unlikely that I have never seen someone move faster than they can run. Their heads are bobbing up and down in an alternating fashion. I chuckled at wondering the idea of what they were doing, giving each other head, at high speed. Being curious, I upped my zoom levels to get a closer look. The greenish, yellowish, painted vehicle, a handcar blended with the scenery of the hill beside them, impossible to notice at the distance I lay at. I spotted two more people on similar looking handcars with my free eye just down the track. Heading in the opposing direction the two people I spotted by the hill are heading on, they are on the same, and only track. I cannot help but succumb to laughter as I foresee the fate these people are about to fall in to. With the mechanics of these vehicles being only of steel moving parts, one would hope they'd stop in time. With the four people instantaneously dying as they collided because of reasons unknown, it followed with a massive explosion that can be heard and seen from many miles. As I lay here laughing, and pondering the scenario of why this happened. I came to thought, "Who in their stupid mind would put more than one hand car on the same track?" Beheld by such a thought, one could guess that it would have been impossible to use one handcar and leave it behind, hoping that it'd be used in such a fashion where it is the only source of transportation for only a few would endure.

    Whole map

Having to find the pieces is great IMO, but ever since broken down vehicles stopped spawning loot it's been really hard to find a full map.

I dont understand why there is no AUTO RUN KEY!!!

An autorun button would make my life for my middle finger so much easier. Especially, since there is no fucking vehicles to ride or drive yet.
