    What new items do you want to see In the near(ish) future?

    More guns. Heavy weapons. Explosive weapons and items. Many more vehicles incl whirly birds. And more guns, so many different guns that seeing the same one twice requires a lot of looking. Examples include: FN FAL (I think this is already on the list?) A skorpion (why is this not in the game already, should have been one of the first weapons) An M40 rifle Heavy machine guns, mountable tripods and the ability for them to pull straight out of ammo boxes. Different variations and sizes of the Uzi Grenade launcher attachments with various grenade types. (Illum, stun, gas, HE, etc) High cap shotguns .50 BMG rifles (Beowolf, Barret M82, Steyr HS) Mortars Anti-Vehicle heavy weapons (javelins, RPGs etc) C4 and other explosives A sexy benelli shotgun or something An oldschool tommy gun (to go with the tracksuit and skullcap, should also make your character sound italian) Grenades that actually work A working hind and blackhawk Light tanks and armored vehicles An ice cream truck No more pens please, for the moment.

    Train Track Vehicle

    Sorry, did indeed miss the handcar. Focused on the word Tram/Rail car and figured you meant something along the lines of an DMU or EMU. A hand/pump car would be doable IMO, but still I doubt it's high up on the Devs' list of things to do. I'm not sure if they were very popular outside of North America. It would still have the problems of being blocked by other things on the rails, although they're usually lightweight enough for the crew using it to derail, move pass the obstacle, and rerail. Now I have seen some rather interesting videos in Europe of a man 'rail surfing' using a wooden pallet and simple wheels on tramways and streetcar lines. That would be even lighter than even a simple handcar (though maybe not as simple to move) as you can literally pick it up and carry it. In the US we have handcars (obsolete and usually found on museum lines or in private hands) speeders (both antique and new) which are motorized, Hi-Rail equipped vehicles, or even modified road vehicles themselves (post D-day they used Jeeps fitted with flange wheels in French Trainyards to act as switchers). I do hope someday we'll have rail vehicles in SA, but only if they do it in a realistic manner. It urks me in game when I see errors when it comes to trains. European Buffers and equipment on whats suppose to be a North American Railroad, or knuckle couplers on European equipment. Much in the same way the Mosin being chambered for 7.62 NATO urks our gun lovers. Though so far what I've seen just from the right of way is satisfactory on BI's end (though there's a few glaring things like the grade being more like a rollercoaster in some areas)

    Train Track Vehicle

    The Search Function is your friend! Second, I wouldn't expect rail based vehicles for a while, Modding will probably be out before that then people will make working trains on their own. Third comes the box of needles directed at your balloon. If a train can get there, a person on foot can get there simply by following the tracks, this still applies to both tunnels and bridges. So no 'secret military bases' only accessible by train. What exactly do you picture when you think 'traincar/tram'? Do you think you're just gonna jump in the cab, turn the key and be on your way? Even modern locos don't start up with a turn of a key (there's usually a lot of switch and leaver flipping and buttons involved that all have to be done in the right order). There's a lot of things blocking the tracks in key points, locomotives, rollingstock, general debris, you'd need to be able to clear all of that to get around, especially if your using something bigger than a Speeder. Also how are you going to fuel it? An American GP9 (which looks similar to what is at least shown in Chenarus) has a fuel tank of around 1,100 gallons, with a similar loco burning around 159 gallons per hour (in 'balls out' mode). Your little 5 gallon jerry can will probably just be enough to get the engine to turn over. Trust me, I'm an Engineer Brakeman.

    Newb having issues

    There is no longer a public hive for DayZ mod. BI/Dean Hall let it die when HFB servers went down. All mod servers are private hives. Some server admins have multiple private servers hived together so you can carry your gear with you between those servers. OP, I suggest playing around in Arma 2 to get used to the controls. If your player is only walking you may have accidentally toggled a control that has no animation when you're not holding a weapon. Toggling actions on/off is usually done with a double tap of a key. IE you hold left shift to slow walk, but double tap it to toggle walking, and double tap again to go back to normal speed. These controls include walking, lean left or lean right (usually q and e), and aiming down sights (right click). Take these steps if your character is stuck walking: Press q and then e (lean buttons). If this doesn't work proceed to step 2 Right click once. If nothing happens then right click once more and proceed to step 3 Double tap left shift. You should be back to normal by now. If not you've toggled multiple controls and you have to mess around with it until it's fixed.Yes, you can only join regular DayZ mod servers. The rest of the servers in the list are other sub-mods like Epoch and Overwatch. I recommend filtering "1.8.4.1" (or whatever the current mod patch is) or "DayZ mod" in the filter box. You can also use gametracker.com to find DayZ mod servers. Just a heads up, there are VERY FEW DayZ mod servers running vanilla settings. Most servers have added tons of vehicles and militarized weapon spawn points, removing night time, and some go as far as nerfing or completely removing zombies. I suggest checking out US434 as it's a great vanilla server that still has good population.
  7. did a few tests on the v3s today. i already knew that the thing really disagreed with hills, but i didn't know quite how much. for anyone who doesn't know: V3s can't start and go above 8-10mph on even a slight incline. V3s can't get up half of the hills in the game because of this. when it goes downhill it goes at like 70 or something. so at this point the vehicles are what, gravity powered? i think this should be evened out a bit so that the v3s can climb hills and accelerate reasonably easily but only get up to 50 on downward hills. i don't really understand why the v3s doesn't have any bonus from roads. or rather, any detrimental movement effects from grass. __ i found an mp5 today, joy. i realised it was 9mm. oh god. i didn't have any mags. you can probably fill in the rest. __ i kind of feel like the improvised backpack should be able to be attached to a ghillie bushrag. i mean, you have to make them both, why not just tie the bag under some other burlap?

The feeling DayZ mod used to give you? Here at EU 556 that is the aim. No added scripts. We also have Teamspeak3, modified channels for clans, groups or solo players and a channel for beginners. The server is 100% playable but we are still in the process of adding more scripts. We are looking for players of all ages to join our server and hope you make our dayz server your home. Currently we are accepting applications for Moderators/Administrators. The application process is measured by knowledge, maturity and patients. Band/Hero (currently customizing custom spawns/patrols with improved loot).14.(Macas Right Click Script), Toolbox, blood bags, radio, Binos/rangefinders... Addons that will be released in the next few weeks are listed below: (DoorManagment)- Eye scanner script, removes the combo locks and uses a eye scanner instead. (Militarized) Arma2 armed vehicles will be added to traders and exotic weapons. (Onstar-key) script, helps you locate a vehicle with key on map.(so if you kill someone and they have a key, look and see if its close by) and many many more to come.     Trucks v3s suggestions.

    I hate you, now I have to go and play C&C. There is currently no real simulation going on for vehicles. Admittely we're not playing Spintires in a zombie apocalypse, but I'd like to see a few little touches added: The ability to add a breather onto the air intake to allow the truck to still run whilst the engine is submerged, for example. Right now, they are invulnerable. That's fine: Alpha. I'm hoping a little more time is spent to make the simulation of the vehicles a little more in line with what Bohemia Interactive have become famous for.

  12. my point is that if this is the least agile vehicle and it's just for testing, then all of the vehicles will have trouble on hills and go ridiculously fast downhill. that's not really consistant with cars. most people tend to stay at a fairly regular speed which is actually hard to do with dayz's vehicle atm.

    yap I hope they remove the large military camps ( tents) completely for example ...they are mainly used for farming and gearing up on empy servers anyway ...would be better to see more small camps and checkpoints scattered all over the map instead :) Also large military bases and airfields should be done properly with vehicles and tanks standing around ( not wrecked that is) and migs inside the hangars etc ...bigger evac camps could be for example more UN based...

    What are changes to Black lake? Havent been there in months. Btw, map has so many new and unique locations that you can explore for days. Would be great if some locations have unique loot items that spawn only there. This will be such a great game once zombies, persistence and vehicles are finished. Ill take week off from work and cruise around map in my rusty Sundat pickup.
  15. Greetings Survivors, As some of you may be aware, we've been experimenting a bit with the format and release day of the Status Reports coming into 2015. With upcoming changes to DayZ.com as a centralized point of information on the development of DayZ, the Status Reports will be released on Tuesdays from now on. Additionally, we'll be making an effort to make the Status Reports more visual, for those who do not have the time to read what is new in the world of DayZ development. Moving onto said development, you'll soon be seeing the spawning of a different variation on the V3S. This variant will allow for the transportation of larger groups of players. The spawn rate across the world will remain at fifteen vehicles for the time. Initially you will not be able to access the inventory of the vehicle, this will be supported shortly on stable branch. As well, finalized animations, and firing from passenger positions will be supported in later builds on stable branch. The initial intent of spawning vehicles supporting large groups of players is to gauge both the performance, and functionality of large player groups moving together at high speed across Chernarus. Any issues discovered should be reported to feedback.dayzgame.com whenever possible. In addition, Chernarus should soon also begin to see the roll out of the new animal A.I. system that briefly made an appearance in 0.53 experimental branch. Animal behaviors should be significantly more complex, and add a great deal to the immersion and feel of hunting for your next meal, or resource. Initially this will roll out with the deer, and then progressively expand to support the full list of animals residing in the world of DayZ. Lastly for me, we've been discussing the subject of blood regeneration, transfusion, and all the mechanics surrounding them for awhile. With blood regeneration at the rate it currently is, and the reduced amount of blood gained per blood bag, not many folks use or interact with these mechanics in the current stable build. Given that now is the time to experiment, and alter these mechanics to gauge viability through use on our steam branches we'll be reducing the blood regeneration rate, and increasing the amount of blood gained through proper blood transfusions. Personally I cannot wait to see how the survivors of Chernarus adapt to this change. Mr. Black0ut picked up his Hardcore DayZ Series again, you should all take a look. - Brian Hicks / Lead Producer Mirek / Lead Gameplay Programmer "I'd like to mention a few brief words about the new character/player controller. The physics part of this controller will be implemented using Bullet physics, so there will be a visible improvement in interactions between static and dynamic objects. e.g. there shouldn't any camera clipping issues, it will improve melee combat, movement on stairs, and it will be possible to get over dropped items and dead bodies. It will have also positive impact on performance. The animation side of this will be using Enfusion's new animation system and will allow us to have more animation layers on character, so it will be possible to play more animations at once. With this, we can achieve moving during shooting from the bow or adding injured animations. The character/player controller will be used for players and for AI units. We would like to introduce the physical part on character controller in 0.55 experimental. As for the animation part (which is already used for animals), there is a lot of work with exporting data to the new system and with complete rewriting of current system, but its in progress now and we hope, that we will introduce it in 0.56 (0.57 more likely) experimental build.." Peter / Lead Designer "While the new vital parts of the Enfusion engine and the game itself like the renderer, particle effects, UI, animation system, inventory, AI, controls/interactions, vehicles, scripting language, central economy and others are being still worked on by dedicated programmers - we are getting closer to the point where we cannot push the game further in the direction in which we want to with the existing legacy systems. That means as the new technology is merged into the main branch, better, advanced mechanics and enriched gameplay begin to be possible. We still need to wait to start using these systems, which will allow us to do more without hassle. However we can still push the current systems to their limits as we've prepared some prototypes of long planned features. I can mention at least some of them. Placing of objects which allows you to precisely visualize where the given object will be placed within the environment and if it's possible to place it there. This feature will be a great addition for base building in general, fireplaces, traps and similar objects and in the future we will maybe add this feature for placing every item as we understand it can enhance role playing and user generated content. Next we have a prototype ready for continuously usage of items which will be used in new controls/interactions, this means that you are continuously using item in hand by holding mouse button, when you release it use action is stopped. With the new animation system added to the mix it means that also eating and drinking during movement will be possible. The last prototype I would like to mention is the one which was done for the advanced crafting. It's flexible enough to be used as a field crafting and also table crafting. The point is that you need to put all your items from which you want to craft something new in front of you then equip right tool in your hand and directly interact with the item pool to produce the desired new crafted item. This solution is giving us few important possibilities like adding meaning to the plethora of tools we already have in game, crafting complex items without need of intermediate products which are most of the time useless. As well, turn some of the stationary tables with machinery in houses and industry structures to crafting tables where you will be able to produce crafted rails for scopes, modify weapons and do other advanced processes. Apart from that we started configuring the V3S with a cargo bed as we know you need to carry more passengers around Chernarus. Don't expect entering/exiting the cargo bed animations nor shooting from it yet. But if everything goes fine we will introduce a different vehicle feature for you to play with - the manual transmission, so you will be able to test your driving skills. Manual transmission is done in style of sequential changing of gears, this means that you can go from lets say 1st gear to 3rd gear only directly through the 2nd gear, there is no way to skip the 2nd gear altogether. We added the proper weight value to all items. Total weight that character is carrying around will be used later to modify his stamina value. We are getting prepared for use of the new central economy system which will be hopefully be plugged in at least partially. Now every item and structure have tags assigned to them, this categorization combined with minimum and maximum amount of items spawned in the server we finally can start to balance loot amount and its distribution over the map. Later area based distribution will be added to currently tested type distribution which means the same house can spawn different items depending on its location in the world. Crafting and usage of the fireplace is being polished to be more user friendly and straightforward. We decided to ditch the fireplace kit for now, improve the current functionality of it and add some new functionality too. Gas cooker is receiving some attention as well and cooking functionality of this too will be merged. Piece of lard and pile of bones are new items which are expanding resource gathering. As you can guess piece of lard can be used for cooking while pile of bones have wide range of use, we will start with arrows with bone tips. Modular plate carrier vest with attachable pouches and pistol holster is ready to go, same apply to FN Trombone which was waiting for proper reloading animations. Now we are configuring and preparing disposable suppressor crafted from PET bottle and we are looking at possibilities to damage firearms with bullets in bad condition.     FOUND MY FIRST HELI CRASH

    nice, i haven't seen any yet in standalone. i tend to hang around the north-east of the map, though, so that's not really surprising. i see you're collecting strips for a ghillie, i suggest heading to berezhki via the military base and crashed vehicles north of severograd, probably also via myshkino and nwaf or lopatino looking at your location berezhki always gives you nets and the villages on the way give you more sacks. the abandoned base north of severograd is also often left unlooted, so you can probably pick up a tactical vest there. the last two times i've been through that route i found hicap

    [SUGGESTION] More persistence server options!

    Persistence options! Persistence only for things like tents, vehicles etc. Instead of making everything presistant, like loot and items you drop, you can change settings for the server to have things like tents and cars only presistant,and have a save option, this worked in the mod and so far loot presistance does not work properly but untill it does, things like these should be optional. Having a save option to save the car/tent is a good idea becuase then it wouldn't stay on the server forever without nobody touching it. So if someone leaves it and never touches it it's gone and respawns. Link towards the feeback tracker post: http://feedback.dayzgame.com/view.php?id=21830 In short. #1 Items such as tents/cars/camp fires/ can be choosen to be persistent on the server while items such as loot dropped on the ground not being persistent. #2 Save option to make cars/tents/fires stay on the server, if not saved it will be gone after a day.

If you come across someone who has a bandit skin or someone who you know has been shooting at unarmed players, alert your team of the bandits location and confirm that it is a bandit after your field commander gives you the green light, you take them down. (Right now the server is working on getting a certain skin for the bandit clan so we will be able to tell better) (Non-recon rules for bandits) Alert your team of the bandit, tell them your opening fire, and take the shot. If you are to find a player who is in your path and has a gun, DO NOT KILL THEM,(Unless their a bandit) you will not kill them, try your best to knock them out. If you have a high powered rifle and can not knock them out, contact a field commander through team speak who will decide what is best at the time. When we go out on a mission we go out in a group, get close to the waypoint and then split up, we don't need to get our asses kicked because we were all lined up like a free head-shot store.     Regarding V3S passengers, hopefully they get rag-doll effects added to them later. So if your driver's acting like a white-van-man who's just been chopped up by a pizza delivery moped, everyone on the back gets thrown about - or even off, possibly - with related injuries incurred. And generally, I hope the complexities for driving the vehicles don't stop at merely making us tap a key to change up or down a gear. The more skill and practice it requires to control vehicles well, the better.

    kinda unecessary I played a TON of 'official' mod dating back to the days when you spawned with the revolver lol. Epoch tho, has some nice things, The base building system is probably it's shining point and the fact that some of the stuff is really heavy to carry makes teamwork an vehicles a necessity for larger constructions (ie: Encourages interaction and group-play) that said the all-to-common servers that offer stupid 'donater bonuses' and AI missions that spoil you with abundant loot ruin it. i never liked AI traders or 'safe zones' either. my Ideal dayZ: - Extreme rarity of loot (id say less then 1/5 or 1/10 what it is now), Harsh climate. - 'end game' content allowing for larger bases and compounds to be built but requiring MASSIVE man-hours or many co-operarting players to achieve. - heavy focus on staying alive as long as possible - More realistic hunger/thirst rates to offset limited amounts of convenient food/drink loot. - Vehicles should be a massive help to large groups but require extensive repair and efforts to maintain.

    What do you want to see in .54

    (I'm not sure if this should be general discussion or suggestions so can a mod please determine and move me to suggestions if that's the right place. Thank you.) Now the devs have obviously got a huge To-do-list for the upcoming months but priorities constantly shift during the development process of a game. The biggest source of development priority shifts are time constraints the second biggest is user feedback. This thread is for you (the forum community) to decide what should be made a priority for release .54. I'm saying .54 since .53 is essentially finished and just being put through some QC before release. Please don't suggest anything ridiculous like tanks and helicopters since vehicles are complicated and a long term project. Also don't suggest switching engines or removing persistence. Everything on this poll is listed on the 2015 roadmap as a q1 or q2 goal I have no affiliation with the devs but want to see this game go in a positive direction and aligning development priorities with community desires is a good way to ensure sales and success.
