  1. I see this a lot, dude comes on the forums whines about alpha, then folks tell him to "take a break", "come back in a year". We should probably be telling people to play the mod. The mod is polished and wonderful, anyone who has issues with the SA in its current state would surely love the DayZ mod. Granted there are folks that have run that course and came to SA from the mod and are burnt out on it. But there are lots of people who have yet to experience the joy of vehicles, satchel charges, nvg's, DMR's, stashes, infected survivor camps, fence crafting, helicopters just to name a few things. Another huge plus is the north is BARREN, the new towns are nice but there is something to be said for the vast wilderness of northern vanilla Chernarus.

    Massivly unplayable

    Check on top of of things(cabinets,dressers,etc.), and under things(the ones that have a lip,etc); especially wrecked vehicles.Also check the outbuildings that are constructed of boards going different directions w/ holes and then well see who is on some BS buddy. I cant help you don't adapt or know how to survive(I can see who would exactly die of in this type of situation).I've Been playing on south central 3 0-1 or whatever its called Have had no problems(besides servers crashing and other mentioned issues).Yeah the loot isn't spawning correctly(in no matter at all),but its there open your eyes and quit being ignorant. You can always grow food if you have no luck scavenging as well.

    No final goal in this game. Maybe one: stay alive as long as you can (kind a stupid without counter). You should have check that before buying game. There will allways be new content to be busy with, like vehicles, base building, missions... But in the end there is no final goal.

    Um... ALPHA. It's not done yet. So a lot of the things you mentioned will become more important as more features are added into the game. "Why model hammers? They are crap for weapons. It makes no sense." Well eventually it might be a requirement to create barricades in buildings or other crafting. There will be much more. The medical system already uses antibiotics and such, but food is a bit to plentiful for the most part in the pre .55 loot schema and so people don't tend to get food poisoning and some of the other systems for infection are not in the game yet. Secondly the point of an open world game is that it is open. You create your own goals. Now in the generic Mod for some people it was trying to find a couple good spots to set up tents and hide vehicles and see what they could gather. For people did things like play other mods of the mod where there were crafting and building and such often times the point to them was to first secure a vehicle, then some means of storage, and start gathering supplies for a little crafted base somewhere off the beaten path. Then once they were established they would often then construct more elaborate bases and even dare others to raid them. Whole clans would go to war against each other. In some cases you would find two groups building better and better defenses against each other's bases and fighting over the no-man's land between them. Basically the game is what you make of it. It's like handing a kid 10 sticks, some rope, a few small rubber balls, and some chalk and telling them to make up a game. Some kids will look at you dumb and wonder what to do. Some others will end up actually having fun instead of sitting there bored.

    i am one who kill himself when i get full geared the reason i do that is mainly because my favorite part is the struggle and i like to loot. you should try to find an RP server OP i think that you would find it a lot of fun. point being is there's always stuff to do that way meet people help folks hunt down scumbags but there's also something else about RP you can start a store a farm even your own colony in a town if you were so inclined. what you have mentioned is the reason i see CLE being a must once loot gets more rare and once vehicles really come into play such as maintenance and the work to get running you'll have your hands full of things to do in no time not to mention the weapons customization that's coming so you could trade custom weapons if your lucky at getting parts and such. so what am i getting at the game to me is has as many possibilities as your imagination that's the beauty of it i think then again you could do like me and suicide and start the madness over again lol.

    See, you're just looking at this the wrong way, try thinking out of the box. Some ideas to keep you going other than murdering others or zombies include: -Sight seeing (Go out and explore, take screenshots and make a "scrapbook". It's one of my favorite things to do) -"Lock down" a town/city (I say do this with friends, as it's hard to lock down a town alone. Go with this where you please) -Just go be a hero and try and help people out. -Be as reckless as possible (Take this as you want) -Set limits on yourself (Ideas: Only eat canned goods; No drinking from ponds/wells; Don't use guns. Also this is more something to do BEFORE you loot up, not after) -Set up a campsite -Race people in vehicles -Set more personal goals that you wouldn't normally do (Such as going to a specific teeny village in the middle of nowhere) This is just a few things I could think up of in like a minute, but you get the gist. Don't set yourself up for the routine "Survive, Loot, Shoot, Repeat" deal.

    Stop telling folks to take a break.

    Well for me , the mod was filled with bugs and glitches and there was nothing to do but search and horde vehicles with your clan while making more similar looking bases all over the place ... Standalone has fixed a lot of game content issues with the mod in the sense of survival , and when base building and barricading are in along with advanced Vehicles , it will be 100X better than what the mod was IMO .. Although I have to say I really enjoy playing dayz origins still , it came close to what standalone is achieving in the sense that survival wasn't easy .

This post will include confirmed vehicles, wanted vehicles, ideas, suggestions, etc. This post will constantly be being edited to attempt to stay up to date. Also, I will be posting these vehicles official names as much as I can, but due to copyright or whatever in-game they may have a nickname or similar sounding name, like in GTA 5. NOTE: NOW INCLUDING POLLS! These will be constantly changing, and the votes will include thoughts on vehicles listed here, features that are undecided, and many other things! make sure to cast your vote, and keep the ideas coming! This is based on what devs will be adding, im not counting what modders will inevitably add in. ~tanks Vehicle Suggestions- ideas that have to do with vehicles, if they are green they are confirmed, orange community votes in favor and red means the community does not want, blue means undecided. ~driveable RV's ~trailers that attach to cars with a hitch, trailers for boats, ATV's/dirt bikes, more supplies, etc. Making it so you could have a boat or a dirt bike or something at the ready depending on the terrain you must cross. ~ability to make a car out of ramshackle parts, for example a red car with a blue door, or a Prius with off-road tires :P ~spraypainting cars, to either change color completely or airbrush designs on to them, probably need more colors of spraypaint before this is added. ~ability to shift gears, use parking brake, etc. in order to coast down hills and such, also to add realism to driving. ~similar to above, ability to shift car/ATV/whatever into neutral, and have 1 or more people push it. would be obviously easier to push something like an ATV then a full size truck. would be good so you could push back to base in event of mechanical breakdown or fuel shortage. ~ability to add tape or other material to damage in body of car, in order to make her look perty again ~gasoline rare, cars common ~working train that goes around map ~tons of islands ~siphoning gas most common way to receive it, could also find jerry cans/gas cans at certain places. ~functional car radios, people on walkie talkies on same channel could talk and it would be broadcasted from car radio, but car radio cannot respond. Also could be used for jamming to some tunes while your on the way to your next location. Several people could stand nearby, listening to a broadcast from a clan or something. it would have many purposes. ~jump starting cars ~will add more as they are suggested/thought of. PARTS LIST-this is the list of parts that are changeable and could go bad on a vehicle. The communitys wanted level of rarity for finding the part will also be included. The categories will include very common, common, uncommon, rare, very rare. Every part can also be found in different conditions, and the part will work better and last longer the better condition it is in. ~gasoline (uncommon) ~spark plug (very common) ~tire (common) ~battery (rare) ~electronic circuit (rare) ~brakes (rare) ~air filter (very common) Thats it for now.   11. Greetings Survivors, We're rapidly approaching the experimental push of 0.56, and we've discussed over the last few weeks some of the things you can expect from this update to the Steam branch. I'd like to recap a few key points though, as we're close to this push: - Rebalancing of Infected damage threshold - Redistribution of existing infected spawns to high population areas - Bugfixing on Per-Item-Quantity control (Central Economy) - Bugfixing on Infected Alert SFX - Bugfixing on Infected movement - Redesigned Inventory tech (engine side) - New firearms / long range optics attachment - Stary Sobor evacuation camp - Bugfixes on various known duplication vulnerabilities Tied with the 0.56 update to Stable branch, we'll see a hive wide reset (public/private) - including local storage data (player camps, vehicles) Development is ongoing with the hive side economy control, in addition to future bug fixing development continues on the functional side, with the next major goal being region control over item spawn types. (removing the restriction of structure types only in certain areas of the map). Internally, the programming and design teams are working hard on analyzing server side performance, player position desync, and other critical issues affecting Early Access gameplay. In some cases, resolutions to these issues are tied to the implementation of new technology to replace the legacy systems inherited from the start of the project - all of them however will be ongoing goals for the team over the coming months. The bulk of the workload over the last month was centered around the refactorization of the inventory system. It became clear that the existing tech behind the inventory wasn't going to be able to meet the needs of the project, and carried with it its own vulnerabilities. The redesign stripped large amounts of the system, and redesigned specifically to meet the needs of DayZ and upcoming changes to DayZ's core technology. - Support for AI and Vehicle Inventory - Removing limitation on "in hands" as a virtual slot (still occupying space in container) - Dynamic changing of cargo capacity - eg: lowering when damaged, raising when repaired - Manual item rotation - Support for redesign of Inventory UI - Support for EnScript (Enfusion Scripting Language) - And much, much more.. Looking at the Central Economy side of the fence, tracking the metrics on loot spawning provides some interesting details: - Chernarus + features 8,725 buildings (and wrecks combined) - 1,742,796 potential item spawn points are spread across the entirety of Chernarus + (Not counting dynamic events) - Of the 8,725 buildings/wrecks across Chernarus + 410 of them are greenhouses With the 0.56 iteration of the central economy we gain finer control over item spawn locations, but we still have a ways to go. As each update gets pushed to steam, we'll see finer and finer control over item spawn locations and types, as well as supporting dynamic random spawns - that will ensure unique spawns of valued items across the map. Who knows, maybe someday you'll get really lucky and find an M4A1 in that barn over the hill? As you all dive into the experimental push of 0.56 (not yet live) please keep in mind that like many things in the development of DayZ, the new systems and tech are works in progress (much like DayZ itself) and are incomplete, and more than likely contain their fair share of issues.     Padlocks enabled?

    I play on 434/436 which is 99% vanilla stats. Myself and everyone I've asked have yet to see a padlock drop to upgrade the wooden gate with. Are they actually enabled as a drop? Also, is there a bug that screwed up vehicle respawns? No vehicles are respawning after a server restart and we're down to under 10 left on the map. Lastly, is there an up to date website for vanilla mod changes, recipes, stats, etc? Every site I've seen is rather outdated. I'm messing around a lot with base building and struggling to find info about the new changes. And where are the best places to farm nails? One fully upgraded wall needs SEVEN nails! I have maybe 30 nails total after 2 weeks of daily playing and farming. I think the requirements need to be lowered a bit.

    Seeing as how the central economy is now based on individual servers rather than game wide I don't think it'll make too much of a difference. But I can actually see if it were really game-wide then people would just take all the limited vehicles and weapons and drop them into the ocean, never to be used again.

    [New] - Vehicles now have a respawn delay after being destroyed. This will allow the game to flow much better knowing a vehicle wont respawn for say 12 hours after its been destroyed.

  16. The battle eye message cannot possibly be more concise. It warns players that the .56 update will include a wipe of everything, including characters, vehicles, camps, everything. What more would you like? lol

  18. Good Evening My Fellow Survivors, I am hear to talk about the "scare" factor in Dayz. This discussion will hopefully bring to light a missing piece of the puzzle for the Devs on our perfect zombie/survival game. I will break down the topic into a few sections for ease of reading. If you have more to added I will try and update the sections. Section 1 - Zombies A zombie game! The art of the zombies is good (imo). The animations have gotten better. But I am still not afraid of them. They are barely an annoyance. The fact that there is so few of them (even with respawning) it's almost a joke. I know this has been beaten to death, but we just need more of them, period. I know this will come in time, but it should be a priority. Think of the probable Chernarus population, several hundred thousand. Now think of the amount of zombies in game... Not a great video, but a horde of zombies like this would make ANYONE think twice about taking a shot at survivors. The goal shouldn't be making them harder, but increasing them. And this number should be the norm. Not some random horde walking around. This needs to happen in big cities all the time. Also give them the ability to crawl if shot in the leg, and break down doors. Update: Horde Crawling This seem to be heading in the direction I wanted to see. Also with the addition of new zombie A.I., new models, and navmesh. I am pleased and looking forward to further progress. Section 2 - Atmosphere This is something that just needs to happen. There needs to be things added to the game to give you the "post" - apocalyptic feel. The shit has already hit the fan, and the world needs to look that way. Car wrecks everywhere, houses with broken down doors, and blood EVERYWHERE. I mean ffs, a couple hundred thousand people were either massacred, or turned into zombies. Were's the carnage? I had hoped as they added towns they would be adding to the atmosphere, but still to many "clean" areas imo. The plane crash in Cherno good start. The burnt vehicles are few and far between. Find a way to reduce their poly counts and start throwing them in everywhere. Great idea regarding moving the Hide Body option located Here. Would add to the immersion due to added dead bodies... Update: This is still my major area of worry. There has been improvements. I am leaving out some of my own screenshots to show some pretty neat additions to the atmosphere. One particularly awesome one, but I would hate to ruin it for another survivor (made me jump). In the Status Report for 22 of April, they did talk about roadblock additions. Looking forward to the renders, and a much needed inclusion. Audio: Awesome write up of how in-game sounds should work. Would do much to add to the atmosphere. (Credits to Star Thornberry) Update: So audio. Lets face it. It has sucked up to this point. Pop can sounds, random zombie sounds, ect. BUT REJOICE! New audio engine is incoming, also doors opening is pretty creepy. ;) Will need to hold off true thoughts until audio engine is upgraded, which is happening. Section 3 - Dynamic Objects Give some objects a chance to scare us. Have a backup generator kick on once in a blue moon (could then trigger whatever is plugged in, and yes generators have auto start). Door move by itself from a breeze if left open (could have a lot of wind effected objects). Water pipes crack and break. Cars smolder and smoke. You could even have trapped zombies inside cars, or tall fenced yards that jump out if player gets too close. Also making the tower at green mountain screw with your radio would be an eerie touch. I would shit a brick if I was looting and heard this... Update: - ^ no word from any of this :( In conclusion, I love this game and will play it regardless of what they do. I just hope they do more to scare us, as all zombie movies, games, and books try to do. Please discuss and bring more spooky ideas to the table. Should they put focus into this? Or is it a low priority?

    DayZ Mod or Standalone?

    Should I get Dayz Mod or Standalone? Currently Arma 2 Combined operations is $8, so nows the time for that, but do people still play teh mod??? Ive been watching the old Frankieonpc videos and I want to play that, but do people still play it?? From what ive seen, in SA there are no vehicles, few weapons, and the towns are different to original chenaurus. Note, I just want to play vanilla Dayz , not overwatch or epoch, I currently play Arma 3 Overpoch. what do you recommend????
  20. Hey all. We are now running the experimental vehicle spawn script on DayZ Europa. The developers have given server owners an option to run the next generation vehicle spawn script already today. Being the finest vanilla DayZ Mod server around we wanted to give it a try and give the developers some feeback on it so we have implemented it now. What it does: Vehicles will now spawn in more random places throughout the map. The damage will be random, same goes for fuel and gear meaning you will probably be able to find a car that will need very little fixing to be driveable. Let us know what you think so we can give proper feedback to the developers.

    I was kinda bummed out after hearing about this. EITC had a functioning base and multiple vehicles at our disposal, but these wipes are needed, however. Well I guess trades will be pretty much off for the most part till after the wipe. Let the week-long hunting begin~

    DayZ Mod or Standalone?

    I never got chance to play aftermath before it was watered down with 1.8. dayzmod patch. If someone could combine features from Origins, Aftermath and vanilla dayz 1.8.5. I think that mod would be even with SA or even better than SA (until 1.0). Crafting, base building, those awesome looking upgradable vehicles, atachments for weapons in 1.8.5, awesome looking zombies - all that combined....

    I'm pretty sure origins has been dead for over 6 months now hasn't it ? I tried playin about 6 months ago (and again about 4 months ago) but there were no servers on dayz commander , I couldn't find any in the server browser for arma 2 either .... Origins was by far my second favorite mod (my first was dayz aftermath) , origins shad it all : less vehicles (they were harder to obtain and didn't feel like all those joke mods with 1,00,000 vehicle high loot server crap), new good lookin map, creepy looking zombies with chopped off arms and axes in their heads , base building (even though it was one of the most unintuitive base building systems , very clunky and not free based at all) still had aerial vehicles but they were a huge reward to get into the sky, there was also a gigantic fortress that actually could fly , it took many many hours to get it to work and find all the parts but it was amazing , Flying with your clan in a huge spaceship was so awesome ... Also there were vehicles that you could "make" so to speak , the frames of certain customized vehicles were all around, so you just needed to collect certain parts to make it work, there was this one called the Zilla or Goliath or something that was a gigantic boat with wheels on it so you traverse sea and land . In nostalgia of the pvp and helicopters of this game , I remember playing with my cousin , we had just PVPed some stupid fools who tried to run up on our grocery store (that was OUR grocery store) so I promptly filled them with a heaping helping of makarov bullets ... After killing them we heard a helicopter land near our grocery store of base operations , so we run outside wait for the bloke to jump out his heli in search of food , the guy was so excited he forgot to take his engine out (only takes a second and lone wolves usually did this to prevent theft) .. So naturally me and my cousin were good people and helped him out , my cousin distracted him while I robbed his engine ... He tried getting it back but all in all daddy didn't really know how to fly all that well back then so in reattach the engine while the guy chases my cuz , after my cousin hops in the side we fly gloriously into the grocery store that was once our salvation . the guy who's helicopter it was we stole , was disappointedly watching us fatefully careen his beloved chopper he had worked so hard at obtaining , Into the brick and cement walls of OUR store , the only grocery store that ever mattered ... Hey if any of you guys find an origins server let me know , id play on it all day when I'm not playing standalone ! I talk a lot of crap about how shitty all the mods were but this one (along with dayz aftermath) was probably the only good dayz mod out there simply because they made it more about survival and less about Pvp . Edit : for anyone wondering , origins isn't dead but it is apparently in a rough spot , not many people play it anymore because something happened with the developers and their licenses or something ... Long story short you can't find any of their "official" lfs servers through dayz commander anymore they have their own launcher and server browser now ! Download it through their Facebook (easy google find so I won't link it) . For those of you that played dayz origins, give this a try while we wait for .56 experimental ! I'm reinstalling arma 2 and it feels .... Weird , lol .

  25. To be clear; it reads: "hive wide reset (public/private) - including local storage data (player camps, vehicles)". Character data is saved on the public/private hives. So, "hive wide reset, as in character data, (public/private) - including local storage data (player camps, vehicles)".
