  2. Hello my name is Jason. Myself and a few friends started a project some months ago to make a new, smooth hardcore-survival mod.Our mod is mainly based around PVP and survival. We have focused on many aspects of the mod from PVP to Survival - today we can finally launch it! We are a europe based foundation and we are looking forward to grow, cooperating with community's like MyDayZ.de. We balanced the gameplay for weapons, vehicles and skins. DayZDecay is based on the 1.8.3 patch, removing and adding some additional changes. The mod offers a whole new experience to Day. We got an active development-team and outstanding skilled players. I will provide a list with the most important features of the mod - But better experience DayZDecay yourself. Join now and have fun, but be aware - you're not the only one up north ;) < DayZDecay Features > We lowered the grass textures for a balanced gameplay - so everyone sees what the enemy sees. Animated Heli-crashsites that have the right loot depending on the choppers' counry (Example: British-crashsite: L1A1,L85)! Hidden Objects. (Inside supermarkets / Houses / ATC / Fake Barracks) - You can search items and possibly find loot! Balanced loot-tables and replaced weapons with overworked/new weapons. Temperature system re-done (We have removed the icon but left the system so you will need fires/heatpacks to keep up your temperature) [Note] there are 3 stages of cold and you will hear a sound for each one of them- be careful - players around you can also hear this! New Skins (That fit the environment) Anti-Combatlog system: Combatloggers will now stay in game as a bot with all their gear if they press alt-f4! 80% of the buildings are enterable now. Loot spawns inside them - amazing for indoor survival/pvp. New Tents/Storage box. New Zombie sounds. New GUI Okay, so that's the end. We have a ton of unlisted features. Unsurprisingly the majority of Q3 is missing but most of the things from Q1+2 have been implemented or at least early versions are there. Sure the game is behind where the devs wanted it to be but look at the issues with CLE, it took so long to understand what was going on that it was bound to slow down certain aspects as the teams focused on ensuring it worked better. Look at exp with the limit on item spawns in buildings to prevent lootsplosions, great move IMO.

    increase Map size

    The sprint speed probably won't be reduced, but you're unlikely to be able to sprint for more than a minute or so when the stamina system is in. Working vehicles will be rarer. I wouldn't complain if the map size was increased, especially if proper map borders were introduced in place of an endless plain of nothing.

  11. Hi, I am new to this day z mod but I can give you some suggestions that would be useful. EDiT: Those suggestions are meant for last releases not for next update. 1) seasons. 1) seasons I don´t want snow etc. (that would be impossible to do due to map size) but chernarus is actually located at mediterrean, where is not much snow at winter (coastal areas i mean). What I want is at winter, your temperature would drop faster, you couldn´t harvest or farm (if it would be included later) and swimming in water will make you loose blood and temperature rapidly, water in bottles could freeze, as well as pumps, lakes and soda cans so you cant refill so often and you´ll need fire to heat it up. This might create scarce resources. Also walking on grass would make more noise, since the ground is frozen, Visibility would be lowered and zombies will be slower. 2) Login places. 2) Login places If you own car or tent you can save it and you´ll spawn next to it when logging on. I take logging off as sleeping, in combat as withdrawing, so thats why you would spawn here in user-designated location. Else you would spawn at server-designated location, nearby city you logged out. Also Iwould make the tent location or car spawn location tied to server. If you go to another one, you´ll spawn at server-designated location. 3) padlocks and barricades. 3) padlocks and barricades I want to create my own safeheaven, but sentry idea sounds like atmosphere rape to me. Wire doesnt prevent zombies from spawning inside barricaded perimeter, sandbags are more cover than baricade... I want to find a rare padlock which will make me and +1 friend to able to unlock it. You can use padlock on buildings , but you´ll need one for each door. About cars, if you find car keys with lock set you can lock your car. For vehicles, I would love some camo net as well. Make it rare of course. Locks coudl be opened by explosives(i believe you understand danger of using explosives), bullets (that could ricochet and hurt you) or crowbar (again you can hurt yourself while trying so). Tied to it are traps for defense while offline and wood planks to barricade stuff(need hammer and nails, creates noise while banging it on windows/doors). Planks would be removed only with explosives and traps with toolbox. Everyone, even owner can launch traps. 4) safeheaven. 4) safeheaven This is tied to my previous idea, at the safeheaven you can create fire if it has fireplace to increase your temperature or cook meat, but you will make yourself visible (smoke from chimney/light from fire). Also at safeheaven you wont be affected by weather outside (tied to seasons idea). Connected to this would be farming, workshop where you can repair stuff with -1 need of scrap metal, craft something etc. I don´t want that fallout house, but i want something to store some stuff and do some stuff. Also you would have to defend this place as well. With generator you can use lights for better defense, radio, electric stove etc. 5) food crafting. 5) food crafting I really like beans but I would like some more stuff to do with food and drinks. Mainly I would love camelbag. It would take 4 tool places and will prevent you from dehydration if filled (5 bottles or pump/pond). Also good idea would be to sterilise the water by boiling or some chemicals to decrease chance of infection. Also I would like to have some tea/coffee and sugar/honey. With this you can boil water and create tea (green makes you regen blood, black gives you hype, white slows hunger, fruit gives more temperature then other) to gain some boost and temperature or coffee to get hype. Sugar could enrich them with a temporary blood boost (blood donors know what i mean) and honey could enrich tea with chance of healing infection. Hype would make you more cautious and faster but faster dehydrated. Also I would like some cooking more than fry a steak. Add rice, potatoes etc. you can harvest or find and also some seasonings that swoukd give a little boost of some sort, lets say I have cooked meat, salt and rice. I can create tasty dish from it which would increse my temperature, blood and salt would make some temporary decrease of dehydration but at prize of slight thirst (thats what salt really does). If I had chilli it would add some blood regen (it helps a little) but at cost you can be sick if you eat it too much, and you will get slight pain shakes. Beans can be used as well as pasta or sardines so you could make chilli con carne! :) Also add alcohol as alternative for painkillers. downside would be you can make yourself sick or dead (too much or mix with medicaments) About water one more time - It would be nice to sterilise it with boiling to decrease chance of getting sick, to make tea/coffe etc. But I would like a new cantine - camelbag, which would take more space, but your character would be imune to overtime thirst for lets say hour. Then you´d have to refill the camelbag. I am saying overtime thirst because I think that later ine there will be some things that would make you dehydrated (bleeding will effect hydration, temperature etc.) and camelbag should prevent only the overtime effect, physical or chemical aspect would need treating. 6) overtime blood regen. 6) overtime blood regen Really if your character is nourished and not dehydrated then you should regen blood slowly. 7) depression. 7) depression Really it is a great deal. When you are in middle of this hell, you can become depressed. It would make you slower, able to lose some stuff and your hunger indicator might not work. The inhumane characters would be more vulnerable (extremely inhumane would be imune because they are cold s.o.bs) Safeheaven can be cure, as well as socialising (to award the cooperation) or andtidepressives. Alcohol will only make you more depressed and if not cured you might hurt yourself (like emos). The chance to get deppressed would dopend on humanity, safeheaven ownership, teaming up with others etc. Also if the family quest would be added you might be deppressed from your family death and become grieving - which will heal itself unlike depression. If you don´t cure deppression and don´t give a sh*t about hurting yourself your condition might become worse and you might became paranoid/schizophreniac so you can hear noises and become clumsy and lazy. This condition couldnt be healed. 8) weapon jamming. 8) weapon jamming To make fights more tense, add some random/panic related weapon jamming. This way you´d be forced to stop using winchester over remington because winchester jam ratio would be higher, makarov would jam a lot, revolver and double barrel would be imune to jamming but has longer reload times etc. 9) last but not least is body armor and carrier systems. 9) last but not least is body armor and carrier systems BA(like IBA, press vest etc.) would be extremely rare but prevent you from bleeding when hit in chest (neck and groin with some versions of iba). But with higher caliber you het broken rib which will prevent from sprint and anti-materiel or high burst of higher caliber will make you bleed. BAs will be damaged by use and can be repaired with sapi plates (rare). IBA would give you more space in inventory but less mobility than press vest. On the other hand carrier systems like mns2000, ciras, rrv or chest rig would not give ballistic protection but increase your inventory size. Chest Rig would make you faster and less audiable but at cost you cannot wear coyote backacks ( they require molle system), ciras will make you hold more ammo(separated ammo pouches) but at cost of being slower and louder and mns2000 would give you benefit from czech backpack by decreasing visibility and audiability of zeds, combined it would give you same spaces like now you have with assault pack. RRV would make you faster than ciras, able to wear molle packs but also more audiable. Vests will take place in tool. Make them rare or common, depending on their benefits (chest rigs should be common, as well as some police vests). Between BAs and CS would be plate carrier which would be extremely extremely extremely rare (like 0,001% chance to spawn and max. one spawn per server per hour) but will give you best of both worlds - protection, mobility, molle system and increased slots. Also spawned should be without gun, backpack and carrier system or body armor . You should have random item of desired loot (compass, watches, matches, hatchet, toolbox, hunter knife, antibiotics, bloodbags, padlocks, binoculars etc.)and static loot( beans, bandage, morphine, epipen, water bottle), to give you a head start and to every playing be something else. This will pretty much create classes. Implementing this, well i would set the skins with hitboxes that allow chance to bleeding. Default would be vanilla civilian (plenty skins, i believe even female skin is from civilian) which might be random or maybe later player designated, then with vest you change your skin to pmc or military skin. vanilla: civilian- defaulf skin which you will bear after spawn napa- no vest, primitive camouflage usmc would be iba, or rrv (recon) cdf/chdkz would be chest rig russian would be like chest rig, but with more space for ammo - vests bear more add-ons: pmc would be plate carrier, ciras or rrv british would be ciras and osprey (pretty much same as iba) czech would be mns2000 or ciras (601 skss) takistan army - rrv This would create a huge diversity in players, you might recognize freshly spawned etc. However this would be extremely hard because of female skin, you´d have to make some new models and skins for females. I believe that moding comunity already did that but... you know - needing permissions might complicate things. Also please add extremely rare vietnam flashlight that gives you free hands when used. EDiT: 10) player-to-player based quests. 10) player-to-player based quests Player could give quest over radio (consuption of baterries) on quest frequecy (if you make radio please make also frequencies) so you can help other or kill them and steal their loot, or stalk them to see where their camp is etc. Player would must have radio on them or be in car (with radio on and tuned on quest frequency). This way, the atmosphere would rise because bandits will no longer be forced to camp and players could use some tactics to gain loot other than searching (rewards, stealing, giving quest that i need akm and will give atv for it etc.) 11) cellphone 11) I know, it needs electricity so thats why it would work only when generators would be released. But my idea is simple - make some private chat in game using some oldschool cellphone (i would love Nokia 5110 ). This would be just to create some ingame comfort. cellphone would be pretty much common, because it is and will take tool slot. It might work as flashlight (green chemlight effect)l could be used in crafting - bombmaking etc. and might work as decoy... but main idea would be in-game private chat. EDIT2 - 4.7.2012: 12) Smokers 12) It would be nice to start as a smoker (add cigarettes of course) with new need meter - nicotine level. Advantage would be you start with zippo lighter which (unrealistic but need some advantage) will be unlimited or fillable at gas tanks. Disadvantages are - nicotine meter, might be more visible (smoke/light source while smoking), shorter breath. Cigarette model might be just red chemlight with less light. If nicotine would be low, I would implement desaturation of screen like if low blood. After few days without cigarette (and with desaturized screen) you´ll get rid of addiction and may continue. During the "rehab" you will also get dehydrated faster. Also might be available some nicorettes or things to get rid of addiction. This is minor detail, but I believe that beggining makes the game. TL;DR - i dont force you to read it, try to read at least first two sentences of each point.

    New maps won't kill the game. 1000+ vehicles, guns, self blood bag, easy mode game will kill it. Well, it'll bring a wave of new bads to play a non survival game.

    Huge Cargo plane and big airport

    Would it be OK to have a big, and I mean BIG Cargo plane? No bombs or anything just a big Cargo plane, maybe being able to carry vehicles like in the video. https://youtu.be/K8VidsDz4FY Of course this plane would be extremely rare and maybe 1 in a 10.000 people would find it and it would require lots of work to make it able to fly. I was a pilot with my friends and it was amazing but the small airport was pain in the ass I know that for such a big plane the tiny airport that we have isn't enough so what about making a completely new HUGE airport with entire complex of buildings and huge runways? like this

    A believable world

    My biggest concern about Day Z is that the Developers don´t create a believable world. For me as a player it is a big aspect. And for a realistic survival game it should be one of the main quest to create. For example, it´s a Zombie apocalypse and the world still doesn´t look like it. What would people do if there was an outbreak? You know all the Zombiefilms. Ingame you can just see some car wrecks and funny little blockades. I hope they will improve the environment much more than this. Another question is about destroyed tanks... could zombies destroy tanks? Are they able to handle a rocketlauncher? I share the idea that it should be rare to have a car as a player but in a apocalypse there should be much more abandoned cars. Maybe more functionall cars but one main resource is rare: fuel. So gas stations are one big point of interests like wells. Maybe fuel will become the most important currency. Day Z with his own econimic system which is player created of their own needs. You want to drive a Tank? Why not there are hundred of them and fully functional but they cost so much fuel that they aren´t rentable. Maybe u use them just as a stationary big gun if u find some ammo. Also cars are everywhere but you should have in mind that offroad they wearout much more than on road - and why you can´t use roads everytime? Right because of blockades and abandoned cars. I hope you can get the point with my crappy school english ^^. Maybe Developers talked about a believeable environment but never saw something like that. I only read they put new Loot, crafting Stuff, vehicles, loot allocation and permanent objects in. Another Idea would be a sleep mode. So beds and bedrolls become a sense. Logout stands for "sleeping" and if you logout unprotected in some wilderness you have a increased chance to get ill. The weather and healthstate is important too. We could say at 10 degree and no rain: 27% to get ill by logout in wilderness 10% to get ill by logout in wilderness with bedrolls 5% with tent + bedroll 0% in a warmed up house with a bed Otherwise if you are ill you can cure it much more effectiv if you sleep in a warm bed. I know this system would be maybe too much but I really like the Idea. So combat logout would be everytime with a risk. Same is with disconnects... but nothing is perfect :)

    Where are all damn AK74 mags?

    I see them pretty often in the little brown jeep-type vehicles that are scattered around military bases and cities. I also see them outside of the small building that spawns all the loot on the steps. It seems to be some sort of military building with an office and a bathroom in it. I've been having a lot more luck looting military vehicles around the bases rather than the buildings, as the buildings don't seem to spawn much nowadays.
  16. Greetings Survivors, Yet another week is checked off the calendar as the team moves forward with development of DayZ. In this week's Status Report, Lead Producer Brian Hicks will be filling us in on the challenges the team faces while on the road towards the next Stable branch update. Additionally, Brian will hand out a bit more info/updates in regards to the current state of persistence on 0.58 over on the Experimental branch. Contents This Week Development Board SpotlightDev Update/HicksDev Update/PeterCommunity Video: Epic Melee Fight Development Board Spotlight Dev Update/Hicks Greetings Survivors, The team is still working hard on the last few issues blocking a stable release of 0.58 - I'll highlight a few of them in this Status Report as well as go into how some of the changed systems are now operating, and how they should be operating once 0.58 hits stable. Last we discussed: - Server Performance (Degrading) This issue has been resolved, and we're seeing a 3x increase in server performance on the current 0.58. As well, the degrading curve of server performance over large spans of time has been resolved. Thus, the experimental branch servers will be operating on a 12 hour restart schedule now. - Player Position Desync Still being worked on, the gameplay programmers have made some improvements on this issue - but its still not where we would like it to be for stable. We'll continue to iterate on this, and keep you apprised in the Status Reports. For now, current experimental servers should show a marked improvement in this area. Now onto the meat for this week. As frequent experimental branch users are aware, we've been operating experimental with full persistence enabled. Dynamic events have been respawning, and cleaning up - and we've been conducting extensive testing on Quantity Maximum Cleanup, and Lifetime Cleanup. The above picture shows the loot concentration (against a black backdrop for our color blind users) right after last Friday's experimental update. The item quantity sits right around an average of 21,000 items globally. This picture, shows the same server - 3 days later. The item quantity is *the same* (Approx 21,000 items globally) but the saturation is much lower, with the items massively spread out across the map. This issue can be tied to two issues - One, lifetime (age of a particular item) cleanup not functioning for items "dropped" on the ground - and per building maximum not yet functioning. Todays experimental build is aimed at resolving both of those issues. With the first iteration of per-building maximums, and bug fixing on item lifetime cleanup, we'll be monitoring the loot heat maps - as well as aiming for another experimental update tomorrow (assuming everything works out alright) with point-of-interest structure limits. - Brian Hicks / Lead Producer Dev Update/Peter Transportation in DayZ is a crucial part of gameplay, especially on such a large landscape as Chernarus offers. Whenever you want to reach inland for a higher chance to find better loot, get to the Chernogorsk hospital for medical supplies to help your friend in need or ambush the bandit camp hidden in the woods - hiking is the least viable option. As you want to reach your goal as fast as possible, you find yourself looking for the vehicle which suits your current needs best. Version 0.59 will come with a big update to vehicles content and I'm happy to see it's shaping up pretty well. You can look forward to a car fest with 3 completely new vehicles made from scratch just for DayZ including a slick sedan, a sturdy off-road and a spacious bus. All of these vehicles will have different handling characteristics and specifications you can experience in real life for example bigger turning radius and slower acceleration of the bus, higher top speeds of the sedan or perfect contact with uneven surfaces of off-road. Apart from that as I mention earlier we are adding long awaited vehicle parts. To repair and maintain your vehicle you will also need to utilize a broad spectrum of tools already available in game, may it be the lug wrench for mounting the wheels, screwdriver to attach the doors or wrench to connect the battery. Some of the tools will have specialized purposes like the lug wrench while others will be used for more interactions within vehicle and its parts. I want to see characters using their tools directly from hands interacting with the exposed parts of the vehicle to reinforce the visceral experience of actual activity. All vehicles and their parts were designed, modeled and prepared according to this goal so I hope it will turn out really well and adds to more sophisticated gameplay instead of instant abstract actions. I will end my part of Status Report in a bit hyped spirit with insight into the future where I can see vehicles like helicopters, planes, boats and bikes. (Of course we're doing bicycles!).     I see what you mean about the vehicles. I remember the devs stating that this was the intention, for a car itself to be fairly common but require a lot of work to actually get one operational and maintain it. But I don't think tanks should be common like that, just to prevent the game from becoming just another military simulator. I disagree on the sleeping while offline thing though. It just doesn't fit DayZ I'm my opinion.

    This...they could have also been destroyed by rioters or whatever sort of insurgency was left after the war. There's a military convoy that's destroyed to the north (heading towards Russia), could be said that it was the local military garrison disobeying orders and trying to flee the quarantine (if there was one) and was destroyed by CDF forces attempting to keep the quarantine or by the Russians trying to do the same. They could have been destroyed as a preventive measure or SOP, worried that the outbreak might be contained and now there's a bunch of tanks and armored vehicles unaccounted for in the hands of angry civilians/rebels. The lack of 'decay' could also be explained that the event just happened so fast there wasn't truly time to mount a response of any meaning. Then again there's mixed signs about, Vehicles being 'decayed' to a point you would expect that YEARS have passed since the incident, whereas we've been told that time hasn't passed that quickly since the outbreak ended (think it's been said we're as close to a few days to weeks after the collapse). For all we know it could have taken a year or two from Z(ombie) Day to get to Day Z(ero) Then again remember that this game is nowhere near finished, it's just barely nearing the end of Alpha stage. We also don't really know WHAT happened other than Zombie outbreak infested the entire world, and there's only 2% of the world's population left alive (EDIT: AND uninfected. We must remember that the 'zombies' are technically alive...). And they do add in more 'flair' with each patch. Mass graves, overturned buses, other such things.

    The game is supposed to take place after Arma2, where you had a little bit of a civil war going on. It takes a lot of effort to clear heavy vehicles like that.

    Mil Surp weapons for civilians

    DSHK would be super super super plausible. It is a simple, rugged weapon system that is all over the world. The weapon however requires atleast 2 people to move and operate. It is used in this configuration in Afghanistan by the Taliban to take long range pop shots at static targets sometimes to great effect if they know their dope. Here is a video demonstrating how it is being used all over the world. Even moreso than being vehicle mounted the DSHK would be ideal in the most common crew served role. 1. One player carrying the gun, one the tripod, one ammo. 2. Deploying it at some distance from the target beyond their weapons usually small arms effective range. 3. Taking pop shots at the static target in dayzs case most likely a player base or homestead. 4. Once you got your dope right the 12.7x108 round will have no problem shredding vehicles and even people inside of structures to shreds. Of course this would require a totally new crew served weapon mechanic and more advanced interactions potentially a new interaction menu to set up the tripod then mount the gun and finally feed the weapon ammo. The drawbacks of such a system would be the sheer weight and with the upcoming stamina system it would be a real burden. It would also require cooperation in order to even get close to remotely using the weapon to good effect. A person in binoculars , providing feedback to the gunner who is limited to iron sights to get rounds on target. 3 people to even get the weapon set up and good communication throughout. Overall if the devs really want to they could have a real winner with the dshk but it would require alot of work and new features to be added to the game.

    Mil Surp weapons for civilians

    The talk of Machine Guns interests me alot especially for DayZ but while there is alot of talk about the more lighter potentially man portable Machine Guns, what would be many people's responses to a larger Heavy Machine Gun that is vehicle mounted? Of course the most common suggestion for these HMG's would be the Soviet DShk and the American Browning M2 which are seen practically everywhere. We probably wont see them until very late in development if at all, likely when we have Helicopters and Aircraft as well as heavier vehicles and potentially improvised armored vehicles we COULD see them, I'd certainly like them to be included, seems strange you wouldn't find one around. As for the other Milsurp weapons, I'm all for a Kar98 I do understand that "Sporterised" Kar98's exist and more often in common calibers like .308 and more over I wouldn't put it past the dev's to add in a new caliber once they've added some more dangerous wildlife like bears for example
