Hi gang, I’m trying to figure out a few things about the vehicles: 1) Do we know how many of them spawn each time, out of each kind if it works like that? 2) I believe that a vehicle which was not manipulated with in a given session, despawns and spawns somewhere else. Is it true? If so, how can we prevented a despawn for sure? Will putting a single random item in the trunk make it stay? 3) Apart from the above, what makes a vehicle despawn? I heard that a car ruined in an accident will despawn, but I saw a crashed Volga which was there for a couple of days. On the other hand, a Volga which I hopelessly drove onto a pile of timber despawned. However, a Lada stuck on a rock stayed there for some time. So what’s the rule for despawn due to damage? 4) For how long the vehicles are persistent? Is it 7 days? 5) I see that all the regular items despawn if manipulated, as usual under CLE. However, wheels persist. My question is: are they persistent like the vehicles/barrels? Or is there any other special rule? If I want a wheel to stay there, is it better to manipulate it or leave it be? Do jerry cans follow any similar special rules? 6) I hid a truck among some trees but upon a restart, the truck now faces North. It is not accessible (although the inventory is) and all the double pristine wheels are ruined. If I chop down the nearby trees and replace the wheels, will I retrieve my vehicle? Or is it lost forever and will despawn soon? Thanks guys and have fun cruisin’ around!
  2. My votes is for more vehicles. I should've also voted for Object Manipulation, but oh well. Why did I vote for it? Because I want them. Right now you have two big islands that no one goes to because there's little reason to and the swim is god damn annoying. I know the innawoods crowd is shitting their pants because their little camp will stick out like a sore thumb from above but hey, learn to adapt or maybe just "DayZ isn't for you". Enhanced Ambience - In all honesty, I don't care for it. Right now you just constantly hear birds sing in forests and close to the shore you hear the sea. It drowns out some of closer sounds. Music has little place in this game and I know anyone who is serious about PVP will likely disable it. What's annoying is that these crap sounds can clog up your audio pipe and are the reason for the can't hear gunshots afar bug. Updated Infected/Dense Populations - I'd say fucking fix them first and fix their detection. Once you get them working correctly instead of being the screechy, glitchy mess that has mental GPS and attacks regardless of any animations then you can try putting in more. Nonlethal weaponry - Aside being weapons of absolute necessity few would use them seriously. Oh yeah, I tased a geared guy with this stun gun. Well, let me grab his AK, kill him, and gtfo before his friends come to pick up what's left of him. Diverse weather effects - Like what? Snow? Hail? Pretty sure the engine can't support snow piling on the ground. I guess different visual levels of rain would be okay. Predatory Animals/Larger animal population - I'd say fix and learn from Zombies. Last thing I want is glitch broken bears clipping through walls... Also, remember that wolves tend to be complete pussies and unless it's a large pack they won't attack a human. Also most animals, predators included, are scared shitless of gunshots.
  3. well ill be brief and to the point i have setup a 1.8.6.1 server for myself for fun and all is well except no vehicles are spawning at all i have looked all over using the search function and tried every little fix i could find and to no avail still no vehicles in my object_data , just wondering if someone else has had this issue and has fixed it thanks in advance.
  4. More vehicles and non-lethal weaponry. I feel like those two things would need the most time to get unfucked from their initial introduction, where all of the other options are functionally less complicated, and less likely to cause major issues if they don't work right. Object manipulation/basebuilding comes in at a close third, though.

    Running will be slowed down once more vehicles and bicycles have been implemented. Until then, I'm thankful it's not fixed so we can cross distances without having to catch a breath

    need help for hiding my camp

    tents and vehicles are just tough to hide, you can go looking in areas of the map that seem like "good spots" for camps and easily find others, unless you have access to a whitelisted server condemns base raiding. only thing i feel confident hiding are barrels. ive driven the edge of the map and have spotted the blue tents, they stand out the most.

    -newui in startup will help you access all the storage in the larger tents, it also works for removing/adding items to vehicles to get them running. So far, this is about the only useful thing about -newui

    New Sedan Won't Move

    Another stupid bug. You can try removing the wheels, logging off and back on again (the wheels won't despawn). Often that helped for me. Usually it also helps, if another player is helping you as oddly, a car I couldn't get to move could be driven by a friend without problem. I think that problem is part of the temporal solution to stop them from sliding away after restarts, but it causes a likewise annoying problem of not being able to drive the car. With a vehicle that was stuck on a hill, none of the usual methods worked for me... A restart will usually fix this, but if the car was upside down before restarting, it may just be stuck after the server works again. Plus, we don't know when servers restart and 12 hour intervals are a long time to wait for. I hope tomorrow's maintenance will bring more fixes to vehicles, as the desync with vehicles close to each other is teleporting cars around and makes it impossible to drive near one another. It also makes it supereasy to find other vehicles, when you are driving in one. We need a function to flip them over, until the devs work out the mayor problems there are with cars.
  9. Didn't see "Optimization" on the list. So I choose Vehicles. Still wondering when my beautiful Hilux will be implemented. Hopefully the new renderer will actually fix FPS in cities like they promised. I should be getting well over 60fps in cities and my PC can barely manage 15.
  10. Do we really need a helicopter in DayZ. I mean, it would make the map feel like postage stamp... If you're going to put in vehicles think of the pedal bike and the canoe....
  11. I'm missing "base-building" on the list, so I voted non-lethal weaponry and weather. Weather isn't really hard to implement, since it's been functioning before. Getting more vehicles should wait, until they figured out the desync and other issues with vehicles when they are near each other. The amount of time fixing a car that glitched out stands in no proportion to the time I've been using it. Non-lethal weaponry will be fun. I just hope the tasers and the likes are smaller than the pistols, so people consider carrying them at all. Also tranq darts and dart/air rifles will give a new silenced option for takedown and possibly new meaning to some of the weapons that are already in the game.

  13. I want an updated -newui. Status indicators would be cool. Also, working vehicles would be nice. Maybe bicycles.
  14. 1. No. 2. There are vehicles. Really buggy but working. 3. No new renderer yet. 4. It depends on what you call a fatal bug. SA still has many bugs but the only thing really impeding my ability to play is the desync. It's ridiculous.
  15. Hi all, I've been gone for a long time, mainly because I was busy studying and also was a bit "pissed" as I got KoS'ed over and over again right after spawn by fully geared guys. Now that semester break is coming soon and I actually love the game I downloaded it again so I can start over playing next week. I'm pretty sure there has been a lot of changes so I would highly appreciate a short summary of the most crucial changes and additions to the game. Some questions: 1. how is the team/ group play nowadays? Is there any game mechanics that encourage something like that? I remember there has been some ideas/ projects to establish player controlled savezones (for trading and the like), clan camps, paramedics, bandit hunting and so on...are things working out like that or is it still mostly people lonewolfing and killing bambis out of boredom? 2. are vehicles (cars, choppers) introduced yet? 3. how is the graphic optimization going? 4. I know it's still alpha but I wonder how much fatal bugs are left? Anything else I should know/ be aware of? Tks in advance everyone, I'm so excited to start over playing.
  16. At time of voting for me, there were 17 votes made. Not sure if this is total picks or 17 people having voted. But it was 17 selections across all options. That suggests someone out there (at least) didn't vote for two, making this a slightly biased poll (to get all statis-sticky) Picked Vehicles and Zombies. Vehicles because i feel you need to work for them, they're fragile, and are easily pilliaged. Zombies, because it's DayZ. Ambience i don't really understand. Is this sound, or just general 'immersion'? Not really sure so can't vote. probably wouldn't. Nonlethal weaponry: there's already a bit there... 0 votes so far though wow. I feel comfortable with the majority of melee weaponary, although perhaps tweaks to be made for some? Predatory animals i don't really feel the need to rush. I know it's coming, and there's too much broken fodder in this game at the moment to poke fun at. When its done or near to. Diverse weather effects would be cool, but i think the majority of servers i play on mess with the weather effects anyway. Not sure if this can be done, or just the consequence of not having it implemented, but every server i play on is just straight up blue skies and corpses.

  18. Do you still remember DayZ like it was "back in the days" - like it was until Patch 1.7.7.x? No bloodtypes, no search for food and water every 15 minutes, no Standalone-like Survival-Crafting, no buildable staches, no wild-spawning Zombies - but still a nice balance between Survival and PvP. Do you dislike all or some of the "new" changes that were made since then? The constant fear of getting spotted by an AS50 Sniper when crossing an open field, the enjoyment of finding a well hidden tent in a small village, intense firefights and sometimes dark nights that required a flare, chemlight or an flashlight - and finally AS50/M107/LA85 AWS and things like the coyote backpack as "endgame items". Did you like that? Then maybe our idea is something for you! This post serves as a survey for the community, as we want to be sure to get at least a small player basis to start with. The server is still in the planning phase. Many players didnt experience this time, the most glorious time for DayZ when it pushed the survival-genres popularity to its limits. We want to bring back the "original" DayZ Mod experience, that brought the masses to play one of the best survival-pvp-games that was every created! But not only that, we want to do little tweaks and fixes to the game, that were annoying back in these days. A few facts about the idea as it is at the moment: based on DayZ Mod Version 1.7.6.1classic backpack system from 1.7.2.x (removed British Pack, Czech Backpack 16 Slots, Coyote 24 Slots) to increase the "endgame feeling".classic debug monitorAS50 & M107 are in the gameabusable lock-on bug of AS50/M107 (like it was a javelin) gets fixedL85 AWS is in the game"oldschool", vanilla Chernarus mapno wild spawning Zombies ( not like in newer DayZ Mod, Epoch, Overpoch etc)Vanilla Vehicles, Weapons and Loadoutfurther little tweaks and adjustments, in coordination with the players We want your opinion on this - would you play on a server like that?

    My v3s won't move

    Try taking off all the tires to make sure they are pristine and then put them back on , if that still doesn't work go out of range of the truck (about 1,300 M) and go back to it and see if it moves .. If those fail , try and get someone else to drive it and see if it moves , these three things are little workarounds for when the vehicles are stuck or glitched , hopefully one of them works for you !

    Anyone else having trouble handling the cars? Today I put together two hatchbacks and when I drove them it was like I was driving on ice or snow, I had literally no control of the car whatsoever, just drifting all over. I was able to do some pretty sweet donuts though. Rewind to to this morning, I put one together and it was fine, no steering issues. I managed to make it half way down the coast no problem, till I went a little too fast and crashed into a tree. I looked into some of the bug reports and someone reported they "couldn't turn" in the hatchback and I'm guessing that was similar to what I experienced. Also, I put together a couple buses and couldn't even get them to move off the main street of Electro. It was like the tires were stuck halfway in the map terrain and just spinning. Anyways, I hope whoever stole my one good working hatchback enjoys it. :)Still don't know how I missed my shot... I'll be aiming for center of mass rather than the head next time with my Winchester. Consider yourself lucky!!!!!!

    i have seen the hay claw/hook item that seems to have no purpose-it would be awesome if it could be used to drag the many hay bales located in the fields to either camouflage vehicles, storage barrels, surround a house, etc. if it blocks the zombies then i can be very useful as a rapidly built safe spot; set up 7 bales in a box with one ready to drag into the last spot to make a simple fence. or use the hay claw/hook to pull some of the hay off a bale to make a guile suit or cover the storage box when its put into the game.

It's sad, you only finding AK74s so if you find any kind of AKs at all (also this offer includes mags and ammo) especially AKMs, my fave Just pass them across to me, I'll take them off your hands. No charge. It's a public service. It's free - honest. No problem. If you want military weapons, look in military places (barracks, mil tents), and police stations, and police cars. IMO - I wouldn't bother with heli crashes now because half the players are already doing that (but it's your choice) I'd say, find a Blaze (they are lying around anywhere) and just a few rounds, lie in wait for someone geared up and snipe him with both barrels at once (press T to set double fire) End of story. OK - For repairable vehicles, they spawn at fixed points you can see on the map Most are grabbed right at the start BUT if you go further from the main player locations (eg NW) you might find one that nobody has bothered with yet You also find them half-repaired, or hidden or just dumped somewhere if you look around For the parts, just keep looking in all the small wooden sheds and wooden garages - and also in civilian houses, there are plenty of parts. Glow plugs are hard to see, but I've most often found them too in the small wooden sheds xx
  23. Explore. If you are visiting military tents, airfields, and heli crashes and you are still not finding better weapons other players are just more then likely beating you to the spawns. In that case, you might have to use the weapons you do have and get into some PVP with another player to get upgraded gear that way. As for vehicles, most guys are storing them in bases and such right now. So you need to put on your walking shoes and just cruise Chernarus. It may take a bit but you'll eventually come across one or catch someone driving one :-) Happy exploring :-) MG
  24. I have been playing with a few friends and we cannot find any other weapons besides gloc 19's, cr75, ski, magnum and the ak74 u. Please can you help me. And we cannot find any vehicles just their parts.

While I don't necessarily agree with what you're saying at certain levels- I can appreciate why you said it and acknowledge that your outlook does describe a great number of things that are wrong with the way they've implemented the bug reporting system. It's completely inadequate to the task but it's "what we have" so I'll use it as best I can. I'm going to continue to recommend that folks at least go in there, create their new "bug report" login and make it the same information as their forum account- get your browser to remember it and you can seamlessly enter it in the future. Find familiar bugs... upvote them. Leave comments. A guy is reporting that the sun is too big and that's not something you think is a big deal? Ignore it. Downvote it... whatever. You see someone reports a glitch that gets you killed at random times while you're interacting with vehicles and this JUST happened to you? Upvote it. Comment. Or do nothing. Keep playing. Like you said- it's voluntary. We've made it this far and while it's not perfect it must have achieved something since BIS has seen no need to improve it- or maybe they are in the background. Maybe they have a new system planned for the beta? Maybe their current reporting system is ALSO an alpha? Mind. Blown. As Emu mentioned earlier- one thing I continue to have such a hard time with is the fact that BIS provided a very early access title to the public and then never really adjusted its reporting process to accommodate the need for more comprehensive reporting tools and procedures. Hopefully it's something they're working on if they're at all interested in getting more objective and applicable input.
