    Side Chat ?, the game feels like a ghost town.

    It does feel a bit empty. But since I decided to hang out near the coast this time (my camp is close by), I tend to meet/see more people in vehicles. All of which have fled in panic (even a bus), as I approached them. I usually have my own agenda in Dayz: gather, build camp, find car, go looting/kill bandits. But especially the latter has become hard to achieve, as not everyone is a bandit, but everone still shoots. The difference between a bandit and a regular player in Dayz is that Bandits shoot you in the head and legs and regulars shoot you everwhere. I've been through more sets of - now ruined - clothes than a fashion show model. Can't talk to anyone and there's not much to say, either. I have no need for trade and meeting others is just a risk for me. Having side-chat would feel more like a burden and people would just use it to complain. So I'm no big fan either. I'd like to be able to send global messages to everyone on a Dayz-server though, so we can start our own events ingame (trading, duels, hunting group, etc.) That's what VOIP might become useful for, if they can make it work. I agree that nobody used the radios in the last build, even though we spawned with them. I hope for a more meaningful way to communicate ingame, but I think the radio is a better way to communicate than global chat. Hopes are that those people, who want to socialize will start using radios and the ones playing with Skype and with their friends don't.

    Vehicle Flipping

    Vehicles right now are the stripper you married because she's dynamite in the bedroom. You hope against all odds, but you know this likely is going to end only one way. My advice, if it didn't blow up, plot it and wait for another restart. By the sounds of it, I'm going to guess and hope you where most likely driving a hatchback. I wouldn't recommend driving any of the other vehicles off road, although a V3S can sometimes get the job done. If it is the hatchback, I wouldn't take it out of third on the highway, and would seriously recommend second to third off road.

    I'd like to see vehicles become more stable and user-friendly. I'd also like to be able to see my fps, ping and latency with a single button click built into the game. Shouldnt be to hard as the info already exists. And an auto run feature. Also the ability to spraypaint other items besides guns and helmets like clothes, boxes. backpacks and other stuff. And a return to 0.55 zombies. Mad, fast, hard-hitting monsters that feast on the flesh of men.

    I look forward to new renderer, especially if it means improved frames all around. Would definitely like see more "infected", hostile animals you have to kill and eat, etc. Make rare vehicles that are ready to drive, to balance out the vehicles that require an entire clan to use. There are ways to keep DayZ about survival and not just PVP. Enabling people to use vehicles without multiple players is one way to achieve that.

    Yeah, restarts are a gamble with vehicles. Sometimes it'll unglitch them from bad spawns, being stuck in trees, or being flipped over. And other times it'll take a perfectly good vehicle and glitch them out. Throwing them into trees or giving them the stall bug.

    7 days is still a pretty short amount of time to have to interact with dozens of tents and barrels, which are widely distributed throughout the map. Hopefully they can find a more realistic balance, while still addressing clutter of abandoned sites. No worries, dude. It's still alpha. That means that we should be giving feedback. I made a point of it to try to understand and test persistence; to the point of discovering that vehicle wheels still have some issues that need to further exploring in .60, if they allow an iteration up long enough to get the required number of tires in the same spot to start causing problems. I got so preoccupied at collecting vehicles, that I never even bothered looking for much trouble this patch. Got so much helicopter loot while looking for tires, that I got bored and started fishing a bunch, to fill all the camps with food. Now that I go to YOLO it all away before the wipe, CLE has beaten me to it. lol And I was interested in going to the island, until new vehicles dropped in .59 exp.; still haven't made the trek. Hopefully our efforts will help to keep this game rods ahead of the imitators. Mostly made this thread as a PSA to other basebuilders, and a workaround to the feedback tracker being borked ATM. But still the loss is real. Real but negligible, as all of the more recent bases will be obsolete before the 90 day timer; and I also know to repack tents and barrels to see if it will extend the timer--still think this bit might be worthy of testing, but I forget when the oldest of the more recent bases was established. Yup, WIP. Still good to explore the mechanics and make issues known.

  8. So, This isn't me moaning about the game don't worry, I just want to list the bugs that i know about so I can feel like I'm somehow helping the dev/Bug killer team. Vehicles Vehicle Jumping up and down after parking- You turn off engine get out vehicle, Loot around for 5 minutes, come back, it seems like it is stuck on something, like rubber banding to the same spot, you take the wheels off and it starts jumping up and down, tried this on many surfaces (biomes) and seems have a chance to happen anywhere. I have tested this with the sedan both trucks and bus, have not treid it with offroader. Vehicle wheels look like they are missing/dissapear - this happens when you put on/take off any tyre and it seems like they have just gone but if you exit the game to main menu then re-log back into game it displays the tyre properly. during this bug, the player who cannot see it can walk through the tyre if it is on the ground where someone who can see it cannot walk through it. Also if a player that can see the tyre, picks it up then drops it, that usually makes it appear for both players.(maybe the new renderer fixes this) Un-realistic torque-Busses and trucks seems have a lack of tourqe ( power to get up hills), where in comparison the truck is supposed to be able to transport heavy goods, and the bus used to transport many passengers, yet they cannot make it up a simple incline or small hump on the road where the sedan and off-roader can just go for it. where the tourqe on the sedan and off roader makes them spin out/flip easy. Server reset rotating vehicles north- now this is a double sided blade, if you have a stuck vehicle sometimes if you wait for the server to restart it will either rotate your vehicle pointing north (ish), fixing it, or getting it stuck into fences, trees ect. this rule seems to ignore some of the clip box rules( items inside items) Weapons Improvised bow and arrows- craft Ashwood bow. craft sharpened stick. then put both on task bar , they reload fine so I empty the bow , craft improvised arrow with sharpened stick and feather then I put them on the task bar, the bow does not reload, go into inventory drag improvised arrow into bow, chambers one and the task bar still does not reload, I have tried composite arrows and they have the same problem. Also the model for the ash wood bow sometimes holsters into a horizontal pose not a Vertical. Repeater shooting- aim down iron sights, shoot, brought into 3rd person to chamber next round, aims somewhere else. AK rifles w/silencer east not working in buildings - tried with all ak rifles (74,74u,akm), when in most buildings(tried in cherno and electro) a ak with a silencer east attached(pristine, worn and dmgd) does not suppress the gunshots, like it doesnt have it on, outside the shots are suppressed, have not tested skorpion with suppressor east. Animation/Models Pouring out container- sometimes make the arms clip into each other with a idle animation that looks like the player is sort of hugging himself, sometimes fails to empty the container then you need to use a item on your taskbar to get the container out of your hands. Flats - Some celing/floors you can see and shoot characters legs or feet from below, seems like they are too thin? Climbing up a ladder sometimes does not holster your weapon- For e.g. longhorn in my hands, go to hunting stand ladder, interact, no animation for the weapon going away or hands going up to get on ladder, while going up the ladder i notice that i have my longhorn in my hands, get to top, press space(raise wepon/fist) and the animation is acting like i just have my fists out but i can see the long horn and the aiming is up on the top left hand of my screen, if i press fire the gun shoots, inventory has nothing in my hands. so if I go to the main menu then come back in sometimes the gun is on the ground(even if i have enough inventory space) or it is in my hands and it works normal. tried this with many guns and different ladders seems to be random. Shallow buildings have grass/hills coming through floors- E.g. army barracks the floor is flashing because the floor and the ground is no clipping each other. happens in most buildings that are close to the ground Misc Barrels- Sometimes seems to have water in them, but you are unable to empty them, making things you put in there wet. Voices-sometimes when you die/ unconcious you can still hear people around you in game Ill probobly think of more, as i said im not complaining just trying to help!

If you built something in one of those areas they will be removed. So make sure you move your base if you have (a) base(s) on/in any of those areas/buildings. [1B-B]: Plot Poles must be visible/accessible when building a base. Placing them inside a wall/safe/underground or in any ingame map object which makes it un-accessible are not allowed. If you want to protect your Plot Pole, wall it in, in a secured room. [1B-C]: No building/placing objects just outside the god mode trader zones to the point that they can be accessed from inside the zone. [1C]: First you will be asked to remove the obstructing base(s)/object(s) and if you don't remove them within a few days of being asked a admin will have to delete the offending base(s)/object(s) without a refund of the object(s)/buildable(s). [1C-B]: If you keep on purposely breaking any of these rules often after you've been told not to, then you will be given a strike for the yellow offence/punishment system. [2]: No hiding, killing, ramming, griefing, building in and/or shooting out of/in too safe zones. [2B]: No ramming of vehicles or players in trader areas/safe zones, when nearing the trader in a vehicle, slow down to 25 km/h on approach as there is a 25 km/h speed limit in place, if you drive fast into the trader zone the speed limiter may bounce you backwards. [2B-B]: Do not purposely leave your vehicle(s) in trader safe zones for long periods of time (i.e. because your afraid of your vehicle(s) being destroyed) any vehicles left in a trader safe zone will be unlocked or deleted on server restart! [2C]: Do not shoot into the trader areas/safe zones from outside of them and do not shoot out of trader areas/safe zones from inside the trader areas/safe zones [2D]: Do not hide in the safe zones to abuse them/be invincible (i.e. someone's chasing you trying to kill you and you go into the trader safe zone so you can't be killed and you wait till the purser is gone to leave the safe zone). [2E]: Players who are seen to be always attempting to steal and be a nuisance (griefing) at trader zones often, will be punished. No callouts of killers location in side chat if you get killed. Do not ask for an admin to kill you if you don't like your spawn, if you're stuck in someones base or for any reason. Desync or Lag? Relog or check the player list for players with less than 100 bandwidth and ask them to politely leave the server, if an admin sees you online with sub 100 you will be banned for 24 hours Admins play on the server, we don't use Admin tools when playing. If you kill one, you'll find loot and gold on our bodies. Accusations of "admin abuse" will not be tolerated. Our server is popular with streamers, anyone found to be abusing streams to kill players, known as "stream sniping" will be dealt with as per our usual banning protocol If you suspect someone is breaking the rules, find an admin on TeamSpeak if they're not busy or post here on the forums in the ban request section. Because we don't have admin reserved slots due to side chat spam, sometimes those in the lobby may be kicked to make room for an admin. There is a debug monitor (press end to close it) for players to use with useful information. Be careful at trader cities, we give god mode to players for the purpose of trading, these are not "open safe zones to be at when your afk etc" they are there to protect you when trading, not to protect you when entering or exiting the trader area. If you're in a vehicle your god mode is disabled when entering the god mode area. Important note: There is a chance that if you leave a helicopter or vehicle on a metal or wood floor that is not at ground level, when the server restarts it can destroy that vehicle. If the ground isn't completely level there, you may lose your vehicle on a restart as vehicles will often shift. Walls can sometimes rotate a bit when spawning in at restart, if a vehicle spawns first - then walls, that wall may destroy the vehicle, you need to leave at least double the area around a vehicle for it to be "safe" Also, since Epoch 1.0.5 it has taken a longer time than usual when purchasing vehicles, they also spawn in unlocked, please wait a few moments before trying to enter, after getting the "unlock vehicle?" notification.     I don't really care if they add more guns and such, as long as they serve a purpose other than for pvp and pve. An example of this would be rocket launchers and light machine guns being used as a way to attack and defend bases and to take down vehicles. But other than that they need to add more crafted weapons.

    Plus: - more pistols less rifles and SMGs - make canned food less common and make/vegetables meat spoil/rot after 2 days (in game) - make stamina more important - make heavy objects really heavy (barells, wheels, building materials...), that will make vehicles more important - and more infected, I wouldnt mind even DayZmod spawning system (maybe increase spawn distance)

    In Cherno? Jeeze, do people still go there? Seriously though, don't go to Chernogorsk. Not yet, anyway. The new renderer (praise be!) should be coming out in bits and pieces in the near future. Once it's working steadily, we can all go party in Cherno again. Lots of new population centres. Erm, well, uh, former population centres, I guess. The North is getting more and more crowded. There are more and more reasons to live the hobo lifestyle, wandering from place to place, not the least of which is a new take on loot distribution that restricts some gear to increasingly small circles, eventually ending with the NWAF - the Central Loot Economy, as it's called, is not yet complete but is set to guide the way loot is collected, to generally keep people moving. Speaking of people, not much has changed on that front: interaction is still risky, situation depending. Bullets tend to outweigh greetings, but that's just my experience, and I occasionally hear different stories from others. There are vehicles. CARS! Not the best handling, pain in the ass to assemble, and fairly likely to get you shot when the gear-shift sound (which sounds like a solid steel I-beam bumped into a concrete wall) rings out. Helicopters are a ways off but coming. Base building is still a ways off, but coming. Tents seem to work mostly alright. Vitamins still don't do a damn thing. Good luck out there.

    I've been reading you, and yocheco's posts. So, IDK what you're trying to get at. Anyways, I just said what would be ok. Did you skim through my post? If they added certain tools or vehicles to open up base buildings materials then that is OK. Perfectly fits DayZ, what I said DOESN'T fit DayZ is whitelisting or neutral zones.

    Base building is mean't to be an end game. However, it's also supposed to be a danger if you want to build one. If you restrict other players from raiding the shit out of other players bases then it's unfair, and quite frankly not fitting in a survival game. I can completely understand if the players need to acquire tools or certain vehicles to raid someones base, that is fine. But, when you start placing these "whitelisting" or "neutral" states, it's completely stupid. That shit belongs in mods not in vanilla DayZ.

    DayZ Overwatch wasn't that bad. THe only problem the initial version of it had was the weapon, and ammo spawn rate was too high. Well, and they armored vehicles with miniguns. Only two things that were bad. :)

    ArmA 2/3 Veteran. Any Tips?

    Vehicles are really hard to find at their spawnpoints, because they tend to not get destroyed and sit around wrecked in some god forsaken part of the map forever. I found a bus at the holiday camp north of Chernogorsk/south of Mogilveka and buses are often found around the coast. I haven't found any cars at their old spawns lately, so I don't want to give you false advice on that. Buses - though a pain in the arse - are one of the most fun things to drive for me. But the 4x4 is probably the best car in the game. I'm really excited about the dirtbike and once that works, I can't wait to drive around in a biker gang and climb all those hiking paths with the motorbike. One thing that's helpful is that you can drive a car when you put just two wheels on it, diagonally (e.g. front left and rear right). That saves you from the hassle of finding all four wheels and running to and from some ass of the world location. Once you get to a city, you can find the other wheels easily. Also, the 4x4 can take a spare wheel into the engine compartment,which is helpful; just drag it in the inventory to where the other wheels are and a prompt will pop up to "add as attachment". Q is to shift down E to shift up. The vehicles have four gears, neutral and one reverse.

    Cheers for the info and tips, guys! I have followed your advice and managed to find some deadly gear (including a smoking crash site with an M4 and grenade). I also discovered that you can find feathers in chicken pens. I also found out that you can mend normal backpacks and armoured vests (including the press vest) with a leather sewing kit. :) Although, I find it strange why some powerful weapons get spawned in a few civilian buildings? But I guess this may be fixed with more rarity. And finally, does anyone know where vehicles tend to spawn mostly? I would love to find and repair a rusty car/truck with custom parts. :D

  20. US 122 SERVER IP: 192.187.115.250:2302 US 122 is a DayZ mod vanilla server running the Arma 2 mod, there is nothing on this server that will change the vanilla experience. I set this server up for the Australians (and of course Americans) who can play this server while still playing in daytime, as every server (by the evening in Australia) is night-time, especially the more populated DayZ vanilla mod servers. The server is running on a dedicated server running Windows Server 2008 in Kansas, this server has not been rented from game server provider and it is not a virtual private server. This is hosted in a physical location inside a datacenter. I will keep running this server running for the foreseeable future.   21. I got an answer from gameservers.com its official the complaint came from Bohemia staff... So they took a complaint.... made an assumption and implication, this is too crazy and still no reply from DayZ.... or Bohemia Staff. The game is broken and it seems to get worse Hackers are everywhere (we get complaints in our teamspeak nightly) The rendering is terrible (actually was great for a few weeks but got bad again after this week maintenance) Vehicles Broken (trucks & buses are un-driveable up hills) Zombies Broken (swing from 20 feet away and hit you) But they have time to entertain a complaint about a server name that alleges a name violation, but is really just a funny name. Are you kidding me... I am sure form admin will ban me for speaking my peace, but for sure if that happens I will not stop talking about this in reddit and other social media outlets.

  23. So, the answer seems to be "yes—as of now at least—items in permanent storage do affect local item spawn behaviour." As we moved our stuff away from Gorka, the spawns in the police station started increasing again. We tried putting barrels with stuff inside residential buildings and found that while spawns weren't completely nullified, they got decidedly more rare in that building and nearby outbuildings (if they were close enough.) Recently, I tried putting a tent on top of the police building and filling it with weapons, attachments and ammo. Very soon, the drop rate fell to one single item in the entire building. I tried moving the stuff to a barrel with no discernable difference. When the items were removed, spawns slowly rose to their normal levels again. I haven't seen any effect from items in vehicles, though this may simply be because they never get close enough. Since it takes a while for items to spawn and despawn, I haven't had time to do any tests on this.
  24. When they finally get to adding in the new sounds for guns, vehicles and the environmental ambient noises it will definitely help make this game more immersive. I'm kinda getting tired of the usual gate opening noise when your in the middle of a field, along with those birds that never go away. This along with most of the guns and vehicles sounding really off to what they should be. Hearing the echo of gunshots in the distance or just the breeze of the wind as you cross a open field is gonna be pretty cool. Of course being able to hear when someone is shooting beside you would be great. And when they change the damn gear shifting sound, which sounds like someone chucked a few marbles into a garburator What's your thoughts?
