Trading? Wait... how?

Recommended Posts

Im just whondering. If you have done any trade, then how and where? If someone wanna trade like a AS50 for another weapon or ghille suit .. On and on and on... You can just bring a friend and when your friend see him and are about 80-100% positive that he can one shot/make some good shots on him (DMR) him with a sniper. How can it be safe to trade with someone? Have you done any trade this week?

Im thinking of trading away some stuffs but how can i make sure i get away from there alive and get my stuffs?

You can't be 100% safe trading, that's a risk you take by opening yourself up to trading.

There are things you can do to make it safer.

  • Use an empty server.
  • Have a mate in a vantage point with a sniper so he can back you up in case things go south.
  • Don't take much of value with you except for the item/s you're trading.
  • There's a list of whitelisted traders / people to avoid so that might be handy to read.
  • Be prepared for the possibility that you and your buddy will both be killed, this is DayZ after all.

Alice and Bob dont know each other. They want to trade with each other. Alice and Bob dont trust each other.

Alice and Bob ask Trent, as they both know, if he could arrange the trade for them. Alice and Bob are using Trent as there " trusted third party ".

In game there is trusted third party trade posts.

That is WAY too much effort for anything availabe in the game. Would prefer to just go find it myself. do people really go to that much effort?

I don't see how that's a lot of effort.

Organize a meeting point, get in position on any random server, find an empty server and send a message to said person via steam or skype w/e with the name of the server and that you're ready to make the trade. Do the trade and log off.

Simple.

You don't have to use an empty server, just have a buddy overlook the transaction with a sniper rifle. Simple.

Edit: skype is shit and only used by the kiddies

It's not particularly simple to switch servers and do all that nonsense. What items exactly are you doing all of this for that you can't find yourself?

I guess I am old school, or more educated on the VOIP software that is best for teamplay. I only use ventrillo, teamspeak or mumble.

OP: Yes, that is how it is done.

Only do it with people you know, or if - like me - you couldn't care less if you are axed in the back.

I showed up with 24 slots packed full of sweet gear.

Don't run another program (overhead) to communicate. Just use Steam friends. It's already probably running, and way easier than the other programs mentioned. Though Skype is straightforward too, it's still another program to run and have to alt-tab to once in a while.

Not everyone uses steam. Ventrilo and teamspeak were designed to be used for gaming. Skype was never designed for this application.

It's best to get an ID on the person your trading with, while I have never done it, I take natural assumption of how it works, and also basic precaution.

Kyzahh is write about keep a fine sniper on a hill to watch over the meet-up, at least then, you can rest assure that if anything goes down, you have the ability to get some payback. If I were to go on with the trade idea, I would bring along the best sniper I know along (I must not really explain who).

Be sure to keep details private and find a remote location to start the trade.

I've traded with approximately 10 other people on 10 different occasions... each time I have taken a car loaded with everything, and thus the risk of me losing it was greatly increased...but I have not died yet.

Nah. I've done multiple trades with people on the forums, never did any of that. Haven't gotten shot yet.

Actually, i've never gotten shot when interacting with ANYONE on the forums. Putting a face/identity to that survivor you see kinda reduces the KOS mentality.

If I had a sniper rifle, I wouldn't need to trade. I'd just straight up murder people and take their shit!

This. I've traded with Inception before, he literally drives up with his entire truck loaded with high-quality military shit. He's got so much ammo in that thing, if you shot any part of it the entire thing would explode.

I didn't shoot him though. If i did, besides the gross in-humanity of the act, i'd get a bad reputation on the forums.

We had no pre-set location or overwatch/third party of anything like that.

Even though i should have shot him because he keeps changing his FUCKING AVATAR!!!!! >.>
