Nyz 42 Posted August 30, 2012 The ammo doesnt make it silenced. The silencer on the front of the barrel does. And yes i like that weapon too

And i'd love to know what it is about ammo that makes the gun silenced... makes no sense at all.. lolCould be the chemical composition of the powders used in manufacture of the rounds, coupled with the huge silencer screwed onto the front of it. ;)And if it is as awesome as the cco then I look upon you with envy. GeordieMarv 293 Posted August 30, 2012 Is it just me or is the CCO SD freaking amazing.... And i'd love to know what it is about ammo that makes the gun silenced... makes no sense at all.. lolIsn't it the speed that the round travels?i.e SD ammo has a lower velocity, and as such...is quieter?I'm no expert, but this is what i always "assumed". Obv. you still need a supressor/silencer to reduce the noise even more.
amaROenuZ 144 Posted August 30, 2012 SD ammo use subsonic ammunition. Most ARs use supersonic ammunition, which is nearly impossible to silence. And most of us like the M4A1 CCO SD, we just prefer other weapons that offer better firepower at range.
black people 14 Posted August 30, 2012 I love the weapon, too. Playing at night time with a suppressed M4, a good deal of STANAG SDs, and a pair of NVGs can lead to some pretty long survival streaks.
TheLoneRanger (DayZ) 22 Posted August 30, 2012 Damage is ~ 2700, but its a great zombie killer (headshots). It has *decent* range, up to 300M (200M is really its effective range though). Its not something I'd want in a CQB however, as the damage is low, but I'd take it over the PP-19. Awesome anti-zombie weapon, however, too bad it only takes SD mags. But yes those friggen guns are loud normally.
ZenBC 35 Posted August 30, 2012 The ammo doesnt make it silenced. The silencer on the front of the barrel does. And yes i like that weapon tooUh. Firstly. The part on the front of the gun is a supressor. Usually it doesn't decrease the sound profile by very much at all - it mostly is there to reduce muzzle flash (decreasing visible profile). The main reducer is the subsonic ammunition (SD ammo). Normal munitions are supersonic and create a sonic boom. Subsonic rounds can still be heard pretty clearly but the lack of a sonic boom means that over range they quickly reduce their sound profile. Both have supressors - but the clear difference comes from the difference of subsonic and supersonic munition. First rifle is subsonic - 2nd rifle is supersonic.
Nyz 42 Posted August 30, 2012 (edited) Thanks for pointing that out. But also as noted in the post above i know they are supressors and ive been next to and fired AR's with supressors. The M4 is a variation of AR not a 308. Which you link in your video discription. (Didnt watch it). But firing my AR next to a supressed AR is a huge sound difference.Just watched. Man those rounds are sick. But seriously a 308 that quite without subsonic rounds would never be picked up as a gun shot. Thadeum 103 Posted August 30, 2012 Only thing I see in the video is fat american playing with huge guns to compensate penis size.Things always go like this with redneck's america.

SD ammo still makes a snap. I too don't understand wtf the SD ammo is in DayZ and how is it different from the regular ammo if neither is subsonic.

Thadeum 103 Posted August 30, 2012 Am i right or what cheese eating surrender monkeys.I am reading this for the 10th time, and still does not understand the grammar. It must be some kind of redneck's grammar pulled out of a fat assie.
Nyz 42 Posted August 30, 2012 Yep redneck grammer from SoCal. Oh wait, you probably don't know where that is, or who lives there.
svenbreakfast 231 Posted August 30, 2012 I agree big time. I have three stored, and carry one. My mag collection is up to the 40s. I wish they would let me replace the holo scope with an aimpoint though. I'd like the 203.
JamesR 74 Posted August 30, 2012 The sonic boom doesn't give away the shooters position. The muzzle blast does.

Inception. 9443 Posted August 30, 2012 No, you're not the only one OBVIOUSLY, and NO it's not the ammo that makes it suppressed.
RaysGoodLiquor 93 Posted August 30, 2012 "SD" ammunition represents a light powder charged cartridge to reduce to bullet to subsonic speed while in flight. It doesn't make sense to you because you obviously don't know shit about firearms.
azrael72 28 Posted August 30, 2012 I really liked that gun as well. Liked being the operative word. I took some bad advice and stored it in a tent to try out the M4A3 CCO because I was told SD ammo is harder to find. The server restarted and the tent ate my gun along with everything else. :( I'm half tempted to dump it and just use my hatchet. At least I still have the M9 SD so I can have some relatively quiet close quarter killing.
