Yes, the Fogeyz servers are all private servers until the standalone comes out. We're able to have better control over hackers. We still get the idiots but we can usually get rid of them pretty quickly and roll back if we have to. Plenty of admins available. We don't have an app process or anything. Most folks just do an intro post on the forums. Our teamspeak is set up into various rooms with the Squad rooms locked for trusted members. Everywhere else you can just pop in and there's usually someone always on gaming. The Bandits Hideout is for our sworn rivals to better coordinate when they hunt us down. If banditry is your thing it's welcome here! TS: 85.25.20.156 Becoming a trusted member usually just means at least some of us have played with you for a few games and you've proved you're not 14 by getting the 80's pop-culture reference jokes. Not to mention a sense of humor about getting accidently shot by one of your teammates whilst fighting off a hoard of Zombies or bloodbagging. They will save your gear and come get you from the coast to make up for it. We've been pretty much accident free for a good while now. We're getting better! We have a mix of US and European players, all English speakers. That's why we run in 24/7 day, because one continent or the other was stuck always playing in the dark. My husband and I are located in Eastern US and the UK pings aren't a problem.
  2. Uh-oh... and here I was trying to give you benefit of the doubt.
  3. Your post made me laugh! I'm sure your motives are not as lascivious as your post title makes it sound...are they? It's important to attempt to balance testerone with some estrogen at any rate. As it stands my female DayZ allegiance is pledged to the Fogeyz http://www.fogeyz.co.uk/ Best of luck to you in your search, though! :)
  4. I don't mind the angrier, faster zombies too much, but I do wish the laws of physics would apply to them. (Walking through solid objects to get you) There have always been a few of what I call 'one-hit-wonder-Zed' that can break your bones and kill you almost instantly. But I didn't expect them to break all the glass in a vehicle and kill you in that vehicle from a good three arms lengths away. Without the Zed's abilities to use tools they should not be able to break through tempered vehicle glass with one blow, even in a group. I don't know anything about coding, but I'd bet it's really difficult to make the Zed respond approriately to so many types of objects, with so many variations in the damages those objects can take. I appreciate all the work the community devs are doing to enhance the DayZ experience for all of us. I hope I don't come across as complaining, I'm just relaying my expriences. The infinite zombie respawn is a bit much. If I remember correctly there was problem with this several months ago that had to be hotfixed. Even when using a hatchet or silenced weapon they appear to increase exponentially and keep coming at a high rate of speed regardless of stealth maneuvers and breaking LOS. Heaven forbid you fire a Makarov. "Realistically" I would imagine we would have the ability to clear a wave in smaller areas, grab the beans or fill a jerry can and get the hell out because the next wave is making its way to your location. Everything else I'm cool with. Storage configurations makes me have to really consider loot priorities, trying to kill rabbits with a hatchet is hilarious fun, increased infection from water, blood transfusions, and raw meat make perfect sense.

http://www.fogeyz.co.uk/ Hello! My husband and I play together as well and we're members of the Fogeyz. We're a rag-tag non-clan group of older folks (30+) from Europe and US who are dedicated to having fun. We have 3 private servers, Chernarus and Lingor are US based (EST), and a Taviana in the UK. My UK pings are right around 112 and not an issue at all. We have a TS server too and all the info is on our website. It's a good group of folks. We laugh a lot, some of us are pretty inept at the game and shooting a fellow Fogey in the face or buttocks or crashing a heli (killing multiple Fogeyz) is like a right of passage. We don't take ourselves too seriously at all. Goofballery can be rampant at times. Also, I'm the only female in the group right now. Don't get me wrong I've got nothing but love for my brothers in arms but it'd be great to have some sisters in arms as well! :)
  6. I prefer to spawn without a weapon of any kind, but I don't get all indignant and huff and puff about 'DayZ purity' when I pick a server that gives you starter weapon or any kind of other kit. There have been times I've dropped all starter kit, even on official servers, to play purely from scratch. There have been times I've kept my starter AK(some Celle server) and ran around PVP'ing with the rest of the nutters. I do miss the nights though. The group I play with... the Fogeyz... have 3 servers running now on daylight only. Can't get people on otherwise and it's tough when our group includes people from Europe and the US. I've been playing since the middle of May 2012, so I've been able to experience DayZ in its earliest incarnations. I like the mods of the mod that have come out. I applaud the creativity and enjoy their creations as much as I enjoy the team Rocket creation. As I understood it, originally Rocket wanted DayZ stay confined on official servers in order to have one place to collect the data he needed. I don't recall reading that he had any particular beef with modders...considering he is one. I've been thinking about the story though. In what state was the world prior to washing up on a beach in Chernarus? Did the entire apocalypse occur while I was floating lifeless in the ocean, leaving 50 or less humans and only a handfull of working vehicles on the island? In other words, what prior knowledge did i have about the state of the world? If I knew a virus was decimating the population prior to jumping in my escape boat I imagine I would have some kind of kit ready in a backpack including some kind of weapon, food, drink, bandages, navigating equipment. If my boat took damage and started going down I'd have likely grabbed it, before getting knocked out by the wreckage and ultimately washing up on the shore. No matter where you play you start with a backpack, so it makes sense in terms of the game world. Was I floating out there so long that military weaponry and war machines would be gone or degraded? Was I a soldier in civvies, maybe, on a warship that went down? If so i'd definitely have guns and nav in my pack. Anyway, that's how I approach the loadouts and loot available on various servers. They just have a different story to tell.
  7. Lingor is my absolute favorite DayZ map. Nothing like partying on a tropical island polluted with the walking dead. :D Good times!

    Upgrades for my current PC

Nice! I decided to get the ssd almost as an afterthought and I'm so glad I did. It loads so fast I have to spam F2 from the moment I push the on button to get into bios. Same here! My husband found it all pretty amusing, particularly my vigorous wire management session. When I fired it up the first time, and it all worked, I did engage in a little dance of joy :).

    Upgrades for my current PC

I just fired up my new build about three days ago. I was sooo tempted to get that badass Sabertooth mobo but I was already way over budget when I decided to go with the Radeon 7950 gpu over the Nvidia 660 oc. intel i5 3570k ASUS P8Z77-V Corsair Vengeance 16 gb Antec Kuhler H20 620 Liquid Cooler system Western digital Caviar Black 1TB A DVD-rw thing ASUS Ultra x4 750watt Modular PSU Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 overclocked ed. (on backorder, hopefully have it by this weekend) Sandisk 240gb SSD All living in the Thermaltake Overseer full tower (love this tower, cord management is beautiful, hot swap dock) My question is how do you (or will you) have your water coolers set up? Intake or exhaust? The Antec instructions had me install it as an exhaust. I've researched the issue but can't seem to find a consensus. I've pretty much balanced airflow with 4 200mm fans. At idle my cpu is 28c (82f) and my mobo is about 2 degrees less. No overclocking...yet. I've gotta find some monitoring software to test the DayZ load temps once I get my GPU in there.

Why do you use 3rd person?

99.8% of the time I play in first person and I've never bothered trying to adjust FOV settings. I'd probably break something. Crosshairs are off on our server and first person is the only way I can shoot even remotely straight. If I'm making a video, which rarely happens, I like to use third 'cause it looks better. If I get stuck as gunner in a heli first person view brings on awful motion sickness. Running to the toilet kind of awful. Luckily my team knows this and we avoid that situation as much as possible. I like having the choice of either...I'm not particularly bothered if it were to go away...I don't view it as some kind of moral/ethical DayZ game play conundrum. Why not leave it as a server option? Folks can make the choice of how they want to play if it's that important to them.
  11. Hey Sula! I hope you're well. :) It's been ages since I've been on the mod forums. My hubby and I are still playing with the Fogeyz and having lots of good times and laughs. On topic, then... We had a Russian clan, CCCP who played on our server for awhile. They were scary good and always very serious about killing us. Or maybe, at the time, we were so bad at the game that they just appeared to be disproportionately better than us. They would communicate in Russian over side chat which I thought was actually pretty smart and funny, but it drove our guys nuts! It was an excellent rivalry, but they didn't seem to be very good sports. When we got better at defending ourselves, (I don't include myself in that 'we', because I've not improved at all  ) they packed up and went away. I love playing with people from various countries and I can't believe CCCP's blood-thirsty gameplay applies to all Russian players. Despite dying at their hands many, many times I have to give them credit for being super-organized and lethal. It would be nice, though, to meet up with some Russian players who are a little more relaxed and groovy.

We've made a good deal of headway when it comes to TS comms. Sula's quite correct. It was chaotic, frustrating and very noisy when we first started. Now there are many of us with admin rights and we've set up a variety of channels that allow the group to split up. For instance, those on different servers, those on different areas of the same map or on separate missions, rescues, etc can simply hop to a different channel. It keeps the noise to minimum and it's a piece of cake to pop into another channel to check in with another group. We've also begun to get to know each other and our playstyles. Most recently we scored a chopper and flew around the Lingor map all night hitting heli-spawns and picking folks up. We've also had a few death/injury-free looting missions  ! We're avoiding, and will continue to avoid, being uber-organized. We've really not had the need to get all 'clanny'. Throughout the time playing together we've just seemed to mesh. The primary goal is to have fun with a mature, but cool and groovy group of people. By all means if you don't want to use teamspeak that's totally cool. I'll start keeping my Skype running in the background (azrael.72) I'm in the Eastern US and can play UK servers without a problem and I'm on (lately every day) around noonish - US EST. Feel free to PM me here with any questions you might have regarding rollin' with the Fogeyz :D . http://fogeyz.co.uk/index.php

Thank you for the kind words, Sula. I've never played in a group before this and I've developed a lone-wolf style of playing that doesn't always work well with other players. Not to mention I'm tactically challenged, and navigationally challenged. TrpleB and I were just now running together and he told me to 'cover him' while he was getting water. I'm honestly not sure what that means. Then I almost shot him in the buttocks because I forgot to turn off my trackpad and my palm hit the left button. Talk about a 'facepalm' moment. It's one thing to hatchet my husband to death whilst trying to bloodbag but it's another thing entirely to almost kill a nice stranger who is trusting you to help him survive. I'm not giving up yet, though. I've learned that I have a lot to learn. If any of our ragtag group of mature ones reads this, please be patient with me!

I'd never used Teamspeak before but it works out pretty well. They use channel idoru.ch (a public channel, I think). Considering the Fogeyz was essentially your brainchild it would be great to get to play with you. I haven't had this much fun in DayZ in a long time. Hope you get to feeling better real soon!

I wish I had the presence of mind to take a screenshot of us all in that truck. That was just so utterly cool...till the killing started. I didn't have thermal but I was scanning that tree line above us before the shooting started and never saw anyone moving other than that boar. I got myself all the way back to the truck thinking I'd try to lay down cover fire and started peeking out to scan and he injured me. I hate that you have to expose yourself to bandage, cause that's when he shot me dead. A word to the wise, when your significant other tells you it's time to log off for dinner, just do it. You may log back in to save the day for everyone. Thank you Tater and the dear woman who makes sure he has a full belly! I don't pretend to have any knowledge of things tactical, but I'm willing to learn. Especially if we're going to be rolling in fairly large groups. Well, hacker/stalkers. I think the unarmed bandit guy was trying to do penance for a life of crime maybe. My guys heart was thumping at like 300 beats a minute. This dude must have been murdering on the level of Pol Pot. I tried to shoot him. He was impervious and as I tried to get away he kept getting in front of me. He dropped blood, one cooked meat, and then another. He told me to have a nice day over text then he's gone. I get to the grocery in Zelenogorsk to a couple of our guys fighting the hordes and he shows up again with a bike. At that point I'd had enough and split the scene. Apparently, I'm poorly equipped to handle the bizarre. On another server I'd just finished raiding some tents on the outskirts of the map and as I'm running away I start hearing female breath in my right ear. And no, before the jokes start, as a heterosexual woman, this did not turn me on but scared the piss outta me! Guy in a female skin was running with me and asking me repeatedly to let him give me a ghillie suit. I repeatedly declined his seemingly kind, but creepy, offer and eventually he went away. Poor thing, probably just wanted to be friends, bless him. I couldn't bring myself to shoot him since he wasn't armed and had no bandit skin. Oh well, my Carebear forum picture pretty much sums me up! I'm off to join the new Fogeyz website! Catch you guys later!
