Why is there no punching in the game?

fist can be a deadly weapon, until you find a hatchet, you should be able to punch your enemy as some form of defense...maybe your survivor knows karate or something ....

or does the game mechanic prevents it?

read the title and couldn't stop laughing..... but yes fist fighting would be a nice way to get about when you fresh spawn, hopefully the Standalone will have something like a stat system for the hand to hand combat, ie agility, strength reach whatever, so like no 2 characters are the same

I would love it if fisting was added. Fisting the zombies would be a good starting out tactic then you could work your way up to sneaking up on snipers to give them a taste of their own medicine. Fist style. With the introduction of equines you could punch a donkey.

I would like if one could equip the flashlight and beat people with that. I know it makes no difference in the standalone if they are using fists but for the alpha now it would be nice, instead of dicking around trying to find something.
