Machete Master - I done my best

I enjoyed your story, it's one of those DayZ stories that make it all worth wile. Meeting a stranger, working together; but then a disaster strikes and bad things happen. It also reminded me, somehow, of something G000gle, God bless his soul and may he rest in peace, would write. No offence. I hope you'll find your friend again.

Dayz is crashing on me even with 60 fps

Go to the menu, choose 'playerprofile', choose 'new'.

    Melee Weapon Quick Switch Help/Advice

I like the first one option better. Weapon switching should take some time imo, and I really like there to be animations that go with it. But I don't like how the current animations 'lock' your char in place. I think you should be able to 'stop' what you're doing and do something else, even if the animation hasn't finished jet. But I guess that's hard or impossible to build, because you only gave those two options. Either way, you're doing a great job! Thank you for all your work!

    Guilty Confession

Listen to me, it's all in your mind. It's not your fate to die, or to get shot. It's not. Tell yourself instead that your fate is to hack those scary Ghilli's to death and you'll be fine next time. It's not your fate to get infected, or to be murdered by other players. Your fate is to be strong, to survive, find lots of loot and to kill those bad bad bandits. Get *that* into your mind, it will help you a lot.

New Spawn - What Would Your Route Be?

I would go north, sneak into the forests, find some deerstands and farms to raid. I (almost) never go into Cherno, not as a new spawn and certainly not when I'm fully geared. I dislike Cherno, because walking around in the city somehow always ends in my head exploding like a ripe melon. Same story in Elektro, btw.

    I'm new and need tips

Hi and welcome! You should trust no one. But that doesn't mean you can't be friendly to others, or others won't be friendly to you. There are online maps where you can see what kind of loot is likely to be found at certain places. But it's more fun to figure it out for yourself. edit: removed maplink

    Whats the point of dayz?

Set your own goals. But you'll have to be creative, make up your own story. Last night we found a bus. We repaired it and drove it all the way from Berenzino to Kamenka. It was a great adventure. But there was no point to it, just the simple goal to reach Kamenka; alive. It was quite exiting when we drove through Electro and Cherno. It was great fun to do.

Why is the player counter stuck?

Something happened? Like: the central hive was overrun by infected and all the technicians were eaten? Sounds legit.

Are there any official servers left?

It's true, there are plenty public servers. Clear all filters except 'hide unofficial'.

Better performance, but at what cost?

For me, A2 and the DayZ-mod (and OFP:CWC before that) is all about gameplay. I remember the first time I played the OFP demo I was a bit dissapointed 'cause the graphics didn't look *that* good. But after 5 minutes of gameplay I was hooked and knew that imo it was the best game ever. So, I hope the SA will look good, but for me it's the gameplay that's the most important.

    Sandbag Stash

I haven't had the chance to try them out yet, but it seems to me that they can be very well hidden; especially in forests. I found this clip about stashes:

    Murphy's laws of DayZ

    9. The inventory is dangerous. Using it will confuse you, distract you and get you killed.

Do you just kill anyone you don't know?

No, I don't kill everybody I don't know. Only if they are hostile. Often I *want* to kill people I don't know ('cause I'm afraid that they're hostile) but then I don't. Often I feel the panic inside (and I hear the little voice in my head telling me to 'murder them all, 'cause they're going to shoot at me, probably') but I always try to resist this feeling. I'd like to first make sure that they're hostile before I start shooting. It's the waiting game, waiting for the right moment; making the right decision, that's just nerve-racking in this mod. Just the other day, me and my mate are fixing a car beside a road. I hear a vehicle coming our way and fear takes control of my stomach. I shout "vehicle, vehicle' on TS and me and my mate take cover. An UAZ with two guys inside drives by, high speed. All the time we've got them in our crosshairs. They see our car, they stop and turn. Then they drive towards us. I tell them in direct to 'move along, move along'. Then they ask me: 'friendly?'. "Yeah, we're friendly" I tell them. But I don't trust them. I know I can kill them both, they're still sitting in their car and I'm aiming my G36 right at them. My friend has a good position and has his DMR aimed at them too. Then they turn the car, like they want to drive away, but one of them gets out. I'm thinking: this is not good. This is not good at all. So I'm getting ready to shoot him (it's all happening in seconds). Then the car suddenly drives away from us with the guy on foot running behind it. Finally he gets back inside the vehicle with his friend. I keep them in my crosshair, but I don't fire. I keep aiming at them until I can't see them anymore. Those two guys came so close to dying there and then, they don't even know. I'm just saying, it would have been so easy for us to murder them there and then. But we didn't. It's more fun this way. More skills needed IMO.
