Driving vehicle then the server restart (had get in/out), after a restart/crash, spawn her back to location where used mouse wheel save.

hey guys DayZ is good but as is far as i can tell its not the barbed wire that mainly causes the Grapical glitch is object texture error caused by trying to alter them the objects ive noticed that cause this glitch some wrecks sometimes barbwire or bodies but mainly body bags and tents ive experimented with them and i get the worst errors tears ect aound BB's and tents just thort id let you guys know as ive been a beta tester for many games and make a excerted effort to find and locate the problem have a lil knowledge in locating errors in textures and stuff also so plz dont say we know or no your wrong i may not know the technical phrase for something doesnt mean i dont know what im talking about ive played games for 20+ years and liek what your doing with arma good work but theres alot that needs fixing ive been oneshoted by zombies a few times and the reaction time of zombies to noise needs to be dulled ie a gunshot will grab thier attention but unless they have a direct LOS they should only start moving any your direction not come spring at you or your position and ontop of that the number of zobs spawning should also be fixed as in a max count for a area and only resets after u leave that area die or log out also vehicle i think should respawn if they have not been used in 24 hours this would cause groups to remain logged in and allow those that need the vehicle a chance to use 1 or maybe vehicles be logged to those that discover them and save them to their profile with a max of 3 vehicles per person that way the can find a vehcile and save it then log and will respawn a new vehicle wen thy are not on the server just a suggestion to think about well thats my 2 cents :thumbsup:

Dude, you know what? I'm calling BS on the playing games for "20+ years".... Unless you are counting "Barney goes to School" or something of that nature. Even then, I would say that you didn't know enough about the game to say whether it was good or bad. I'm going to guess, considering you're telling the truth, that you are around 21-22 years old. Might I suggest spending less time being a "Beta Tester" and more time studying the english language. Yes, I know, this is a forum about a video game and I get that. I can handle things like "C u L8ter" and "IMHO" and things of that nature. But your comment is useless. Why? Becuase it is completely unreadable. Seriously, it gave me a headache. Let me try to understand what you are saying and possibly rephrase this for everyone else.

1. Barb wire, body bags (Haven't seen an actual body bag that isn't a background object.), and tents glitch because they are altered. You have made a CONCERTED (not EXCERTED) effort to be knowledgeable enough to tell other people that they don't know what they are talking about when they tell you that you don't know what you are talking about. (Did you get all that?)

2. You have been killed by zombies (Or Zobs as you put it once.) in a single shot. (Are there infected running around with firearms now? Scary.)

3. Infected should not be able to run toward your gunfire as easily.

4. Vehicles should respawn if not used in 24 hours.

I think that just about covered it.

Oh wait, one more thing.

Plz add the "Flip ATV" option in mouse wheel menu when targeting a fliiped ATV. Maybe thats off-topic but many ppl would like to see it.

Its not possible to get meat from gutted animals in current version.

Also to keep people from diconnecting in combat, could the detection of current shot shock be a way to help that?

I have been gutting animals all weekend. I think there might be something wrong with your installation.

the more you talk about duping the more the new people that don't know about duping are going to want to find out about it.

they will find out as soon as they find their first tent.

right now its like impossible not to dupe during normal gameplay.

and you get used to it, especially if you are still new to the game.

No, the problem is that some animals do not show the meat immediately on gutting. Just wait around for a minute or two and suddenly the meat is lootable.

Granted, hanging around in the middle of the field waiting for the meat to spawn is... umm... somewhat hazardous.

its called a hatchet and its the easiest weapon to find and it is a melee weapon. learn about a game before you jump into it. there are instruction videos that show you everything you need to know on youtube. please don't waste space on the forums with ignorance. also there is a place for suggestions on this forum. this is not the place for suggesting things especially if you are suggesting something that already exists in the game.

If you have to do extensive research on a game to learn how to play, that is a flaw in development. By not giving brand new players something to defend themselves with in a new and harsh environment is a flaw in design. It does nothing but frustrate and push new players away from the game. We already know how to play, so not having a weapon isn't a big deal. Try thinking from something than your own biased point of view. Melee weapons on startup does not exist in the game. And unless you only read my post, there are dozens of people asking for things in this forum that aren't in the game.

Talk about ignorance.

  • Duping is currently crazy! I appreciate it can't be entirely fixed in the mod, but it used to be a lot better than this! :emptycan:

  • More weapons yet to be seen. Please focus on low to mid end weaponry. May I suggest some more handguns, like the CZ 75, Tokarev TT, USP.45, Sig P226 and Browning High Power as well as some revolvers. Some more AK-47 variants would be both fitting and appropriate. I think there needs to be a greater focus on civilian weaponry, especially some more melee items, such as machete's, sledgehammers and knives (hunting knife?).

  • A better zombie aggro system and better zombie behavior. They should walk towards the sound of the shot and then on confirming a player's location attack like crazy. To compensate for their slower reactions the audible range of weapons should be greatly increased. A zombie IRL would be able to hear a shot from hundreds of metres away. Currently there appear to be two state of zombie awareness, completely oblivious, and really pissed off. Should be replaced with completely oblivious, inquisitive, alerted, and really pissed off.

  • Some more late level content. Especially content focused around cooperation and teamwork.

I haven't peaked at the source for either DayZ or ARMA 2 but I feel like taking a stab at this one anyway.

To serial number every item with a unique ID would be incredibly taxing in every aspect. This would be the case, I believe, because best practice (I assume) would be to give each item a generic item code (which I'm sure the game all ready does) then give it a unique item code, like a serial number. That unique item code would then be bound to your account in the central server.

To parse through a huge (re: gigantifuckingnormous) database that comprised not only every item in the entire server you are on but every item laying on the ground as well and comparing those numbers against the player database to see who owns it (if anyone) would be incredibly taxing. Not to mention if anything desynchronizes it could be a server wide disaster; a "dogs fucking cats" type of calamity. Then, regardless of these efforts, a new dupe method would be found. You can take that to the bank bro.

I think the best bet here is to wait for the standalone and try to mitigate these problems more when he's got access to source. Over riding a bagillion methods to stop something that most likely won't be stopped anyway is a bit superfluous.

Well I also don't know but I can take a stab at a reply

As far as Im aware HIVE is seperate to ARMA II. So the item creation / ID code should be under Rockets control. Also hes mentioned issues with ID no's over a million , so i have to assume items already have IDs. When you log on or a tent is instanced it already has to look up the items it has saved and instance them. So adding one check to catch duplicate IDs and not instance them or delete doesnt sound like a huge stretch. Yes it IS another operation but not a system breaking one I wouldnt have thought.

Id be interested in why Rocket says it's not possible in the MOD and requires sources access to Arma II.

In regard to tracking spawned stuff, it really shouldn't be that hard or heavy on the database.... all items on floor get a null or zero ID, when picked up the first time the hive assigns them a unique ID, when transferred, they get transferred to new user so next time a player loads the game and his player gets created, he no longer receives the old item.

It's a 64 bit unsigned value, 8 bytes... even with 2 million players times 20 items average in inventory we're still looking at 40 million items, about 8% of 32bit unsigned max if my math is right... maybe even an unsigned 32 bit value (2 billion ids) would work.. could even be an auto increment value.. As items are used, you just delete the record from DB...

In the worst case, once a week do a 5-10 minute maintenance pause where you reindex the IDs so that the ids of dropped rows are assigned to existing items and the top value gets decreased to keep it below 32bits or 64 bits maximum. Or it could even be done in the background while certain players are offline - check who's offline and edit the unique ids of the items in inventory to take values closer to zero, which are not used (consumed/dropped items).

Tracking vehicles and tents is different, since you can easily give them variables (in this case an id), but this does not hold true for things in your inventory.

I have a thought. I changed my F key and I also changed the keys used to lean. They are now mapped to my mouse. Even if I have flares, grenades etc equipped, I don't get the option to use them unless I map them as default and I can lean, but I can't roll while prone unless I default. I mean, if you have a grenade, scrolling the mouse wheel and selecting it should work. I don't understand why the engine forces you to use another key binding for something like that.

Can this be fixed?

Try changing the "evade left" and "evade right", as I believe the bindings for rolling and leaning are different.

I might read your post if you bother including stops (including full stops).

I had this same problem. It took about 20-25 seconds roughly for the take meat and/or gear option to appear.

When will the Zed behaviour be a focus in the following patches? Currently, when they charge you it is almost impossible to hit them - at least in the head, because they rush extremely fast, run in zig-zag, skip frames in the attack animation and on and on.

With the weapon nerv by Arma 1.62, Zeds are really annoying to deal with.

All you need to do is run into a building and then kill them because they are forced to walk. Makes it much easier.

they had hit major scalability issues. The instancing with central hive is a great idea but in order for us to be able to jump between hosts

with a persistent character char state needs to be constantly synced to the hive. maybe make char transfer to hive asynchronous, that

would prevent real time server hopping but still allow to play on different server after a few hours. Lock the char record in the db to the server you last logged

into until the sync to hive tasks completes.

I personally think new features should wait until the current features are polished up and run smoothly. Otherwise it will just end up with loads of new features but none of them work and it leaves the game broken. Even with the current bugs this game is still absolutely amazing.

i know that, but i just want to be sure they are spawning, since i m finding more nvg´s that any of the antibiotics. i visit like 20 times hospitals and nothing so far

Ive found two packs of antibiotics, so they do spawn. (both of them where in the medical military tents in chreno).

Well that wont work... I usually join 5-10 servers before i find one that doesnt lagg, and has the ingame time im looking for. (The Gmt+X in the servernames is NEVER accurate.)

Personally, It's hard for me to even play the game with the way the graphical bugs are. I hunt up in the north, and considering I can't even approach NWAF or Stary Sobor without being blinded and unable to see, there's not much for me to do. I have nothing to hunt for. I have a ghilie, AS-50/L85A2AWS, GPS, NVG, Rangefinder, Coyote Backpack, All the tools, We have a camp established, multiples actually. Anywhere with dead military personal, aka...all the high end loot spots, are untouchable. Either you get in a situation where you aggro zombies and can't even see to engage them so you end up running into fences or into a horde.. or on the other end of the coin, the sniper who can sit at the perfect angle and not get any glitches but can see you running around like a chicken with his head cut off. And I say this because I've done it shamelessly. There is an area you can sit on in the west forest, where you can overwatch the hangers, firestation and the ATC without seeing any glitches at all. So for any person running around out there blind, you would never even know he's there, even if you had a thermal'd L85 as I do.

I was hoping this hotfix would be released today, but I'll accept wednesday(hopefully it'll get done sooner) because these graphic bugs are some of the most game-breaking bugs we've seen so far in my opinion, or should I say that "I've" seen. I'm thankful you're working hard on it, even though my post may come off as negative....don't let it fool you. I'm absolutely pleased that you're busting ass to fix this rocket.

Eliminating duping in the mod is impossible.

I can improve things better than they are, but this must be solved in the engine source.

Can you do anything about the various methods of tent duping?

Rocket, what is the plan for dealing with the discrepancy between ACP/1911 magazines? When we switch a 1911 mag to ACP will we get only 6 shots? Will switching it back give us 7 again or will we only have 6 still? Or is it possible to make two ACP mags, one with 6 and one with 1 bullet? (Also, could we get the ability to combine half empty mags? plz?)

Also, what about stuff like m24/DMR rounds? If we have 3 m24 mags can we make a DMR mag with 15 shots? (or whatever they had)

Suggestion:

Moving axe to secondary weapon!

This will allow us to quietly deal with zombie in the open without having to try to switch primary weapons, I'd rather have an axe as a secondary weapon anyways than the pistol.

Agreed, alternatively you can have a smaller knife, such as the hunting knife, work as a melee weapon in the secondary slot.
