Zombies run like race cars

dayz should make better zombies. they run like race cars. Sometimes it's hard to shoot them. More animations are needed

It's pathfinding related...slowing them down to run instead of sprint might help but would make them less of a threat.

Aim better... ;)

That's the worst argument ever for something that's obviously bugged as hell. There are a lot of ways to add threat to zombies without making them ready for the Olympics.

i agree, slow them down and perhaps quadruple their amount inside cities, near churches stores and markets.

cant enter a store because there ate too many? well, make friends or turn elsewhere.

most times i have to wait till they are close enough (to hit me) to be sure ill get a proper shot, since they run like "the flash". and because of that i mostly just use the axe, leaving guns just for dealing with other players (that even though they always try to kill me i find them to be less of a treat than supernatural running zombies that teleport around me and come through walls.

another unrelated sugestion imho would be AI survivors in military zones, crashed helis, places like that. maybe one or a couple just trying to fend off invaders.

There are limitations on how many zombies the mod can support before it chokes the game engine, which is why they were made to run so fast. It was the only way he could make a smaller amount of zombies into a larger threat.

Simply quadrupling their amount is not even an option at this point. Possibly later on in development as the mod becomes more optimized.

I think their speed is not the issue. They can keep their super-speed, as long they are only able to run in straight lines.

Their hability to run in zig-zag is really annoying and pointless. STRAIGHT LINE PLEASE! :)

Maybe they could have an acceleration and deceleration animation to help with this. The biggest problem I see (and I do agree they bob and weave to a ridiculous degree) is that once they aggro, there isn't a transition between walking/standing and running, they are just suddenly running. I think there should be at least an animation of them starting up into a run, as well as them coming to a stop in front of you as they attack.

The acceleration animation would be the most important one, and I think the deceleration one would need to be about half as long as the acceleration one.

Yeah, nerf zombies so the game presents zero AI challenge. It's already pathetically simple, gimme a break... :dodgy:

You know the 'aim better' troll comment is getting pretty old. You can't 'aim better' at something that moves around so fast and wild. There's the rare occasion that a zombie doesn't go nuts jerking about the place, but it's the exception. There is no aiming better with most zombies.

One person thought he was smart and said that it was extremely difficult to make the zombies act normally, which is a crock because I can think of at least one Arma 2 mod that has zombies that don't move around like insane ninjas on crack.
