My thoughts are that once DayZ makes it to the standalone phase, it will potentially have a far greater security system in place. As described in some other threads, ArmA was originally designed for the military to use as a form of training. It is easily "hacked" because it was never intended for this sort of mainstream indie (contradiction?) attention, it was supposed to be easy to manipulate so that various training scenarios could be created easily. Unfortunately, due to this design, it's insanely simple for anyone with a decent understanding of scripting to inject their own "hacks" into the game. All that being said, I think that right now the skiddies are the biggest cause for concern and/or complaint. The bugs and all that jazz are easily muscled through, but we're forced to sit back and let Battleye handle the illegal scripts, which as you can probably tell from the zillion threads about it, isn't sitting well with DayZ players at the moment.

Didn't feel like reading the wall of text, which means I probably missed the entire point of your thread. Regardless, I used to be a DayZ fanatic... lately though, skiddies have got me down. I'm not as interested in playing anymore because I know within a couple hours, some skiddie is going to show up and fuck everything up. Also to note, I'm highly anticipating Guild Wars 2... soooo, yeah. Great mod, losing it's appeal though. War Z looks somewhat appealing as a finished product, but I feel that DayZ will be a far superior product in the end.

I picked the most dominant of my reasons as my vote, however I kill for a variety of reasons. I don't want to be killed by other players obviously, kill or be killed mentality. I always loot my kills, if for nothing more than curiousity, but more often than not you probably have something I'll claim as my own. In a way it is a bit more challenging, nobody can really deny that once you grow familiar to a zombie's patterns, there isn't much of a challenge. I also consider my murder counter a sort of measure of my survival success, in the sense of "this is how many survivors I've outplayed", a sort of survival of the fittest mentality if you will. I don't kill to prove I'm better, no leaderboards anymore anyhow. I don't just want people to die, I don't want to watch the world burn... I would be less inclined to kill if I wasn't sure every person I came across wanted me face down in a ditch so they could take my gear. P.S. None of my reasons are listed in any particular order.

That's bizarre, I've never actually used one before so I don't know. Perhaps someone with a bit more experience in "unnecessarily explosive Dayz weapons" will pop into this thread and help out, lol, sorry pal. :blush:

Because it isn't toggle-able. Gun is basically shit unless you already have NVGs and are playing on a night server. If you don't have NVGs, every time you look through the scope and pull away from the scope, your eyes have to re-adjust which puts you at a large disadvantage in a firefight.

... seriously? More than likely it's a mod for ArmA that none of us have ever seen because most of us flocked here because of DayZ. GG. <_<
