no? or at least it wasn't like that. Collision is different outside the borders - vehicle will not get any traction and will get stuck in the ground eventually.

no need for rocket fuel - no wonder that space tourism is getting more popular each day!

GREAT POINT!  Call Musk, Bezos, and Branson and notify them they should fire all of their engineers and hire BI.  They have the skillz to make it happen.

I remember when there were invisible objects in the roads that would completely ruin your vehicle.  The road from the west to Pushtoska on Chernarus was notorious for ruining vehicles.  I don't know what happened here..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wswYaJbjzpM

not exactly invisible. Roads, railways or bridges were matched together but in some places these elements are not perfectly connected. Some are elevated more than others (bridge in front of a factory for example). And this difference was just enough to become a serious problem in some scenarios. The biggest hole was located in front of a prison island.

Not to hijack my own thread, but can someone explain to me what people get out of this?

I mean there are games and worlds MADE for this kind of activity, but NOT THIS GAME.  I've managed to stomach two roleplay servers with some decent rules for killing yet allow interactions, BUT THIS??!??  Is on a whole other level.

Paraphrasing Ian Malcolm from Jurrasic Park... "Just because you CAN, doesn't mean you SHOULD!"

It doesn't need explanation.  If they purchased copies of DayZ legitimately, and are not bothering anyone, then what's the issue?

You've asked before, "what's the point?" but there doesn't have to be a point.  You may see no point in roleplaying activities and deem it worthless, but if someone is having fun during their downtime, then it's not wasted time.  There doesn't need to be someone to define what DayZ should be.

Why BI.... just why?

It was a known thing during this earlier patch that if you park cars too close to each other they will flip out.    This isn't really a problem anymore.

Could you please limit your car examples to the latest patch, please?  Probably much more convincing.

Wrong!  The video was made July 23, 2021.  Try again.

So we celebrate a birthday virtually through a game designed around the Infected Apocalypse with Japanese Manga characters. I'm not defining what DayZ is, I'm asking what's the point in relation to WHAT it is.  There's a difference.

I'm not entirely clear what you're trying to ask, or how it relates to this thread, but as others have said, this is a sand box game where you can do whatever you want and it's not hurting anyone. If you don't like role play servers you have the choice to not join then right?

Oh yea. You're right.  I mistook the interface.  Totally relevant.  Carry on.  :)

And what DDF just said.  Social interaction in a sandbox.  There doesn't have to be relation.

I actually played on two different roleplay servers that had decent rules.  I understand to a point, and yes, to each their own, but if you put it out there for the world to see someone is always going to ask what's the point and why would you do this.  Again, not the point of this thread, but something that crossed my mind this morning.   Back to Vehicle BS...

Imagine you jump onto a bucking bronco....

I have to admit that vehicles are performing much better than in v1.00!

I know most of the spots where it lags a bit from loot and inventory interaction proximity, and crashing isn’t much of an issue. With consistency, I can get about two weeks (real-time) out of a vehicle before some style of brutal wreck because I’m speeding or even more often, a theft.

The ONLY time driving has been a negative experience for me is when the fireworks go off. Bullet/projectile physics can freeze the screen for up to 10 seconds at its very worst in my experience. (Solid speed interwebs.) Leads to death 60% of the time, every time.

Frame rate drop can be further reduced as more surfaces are involved with the bullets; most notably in cities.

Don’t get me wrong though, I do enjoy my time on the beach. There is a sense of accomplishment that accompanies surviving a night spawn as a fresh hatchling on a first person server. Seeing that sunrise is a beautiful thing. Once, a random garden was responsible for my survival.

Conclusion: Cars are things, which means they don’t matter. In my experience DayZ has always been about the different interactions with other survivors. Almost every situation is different because of the open-ended sandbox design. Don’t go bitching about materialistic goods while the biological-chemical apocalypse is in a full upswing. Everything is going to shit out here!

Cars are a necessary component to the game.  They bothered to program them, put the models in the game and write scripts for interaction.  I have no scientific basis for stating the following just my own opinion based on all of the research I am doing on Youtube, but f I'd say at minimum 15 to 20 new videos are born on Youtube daily showcasing how shitty cars are.  That number could potentially be higher as I recently discovered some PS4 players don't bother to name their videos and just upload their raw stream.

Well, here's some news.  I read recently from a modder that Vehicles count as projectiles in the engine.  So we're riding around in bullets.  With the same physics.... Let that soak in when considering how terrible cars perform.

Couldn’t be more true!  How could the game, especially the stamina system, not be balanced as-is, without considering vehicles?!?  Whether they belong or not, the ‘difficulty’ assumes they exist!  Huge component with major flaws!

I'm not against cars being in, but I certainly wouldn't say they're necessary. I rarely use them and when I have, generally they've been stolen by the time I get online again so I tend not to bother. Sometimes I'll fix one up just for something to do. I can understand the need for cars when base building. But again, that's something I don't bother with or see the point of!

Just like I don't see the point of adding Japanese Manga for role play servers to DayZ.
