hyz4 1 Posted April 7, 2019 I am planning on buying a new CPU. Should i get a 6 core or 8<more core CPU. Can some developer answer what is the case or what is planned for the game? I have currently a 4790K, Dayz seems to be using 4 cores I dont see much difference in 4 vs 8 threads when disabling HT. THX
Survivor1431 116 Posted April 8, 2019 I have an i7-7700k, 4 cores, 8 threads, and my CPU usage never bottlenecks, in fact there was a ton of headroom from what I remember in testing, but I can't remember the exact numbers.
eno 1049 Posted April 8, 2019 Look into the resource monitor in windows... configure it to monitor cpu loading and play some DayZ and you will have your answer.

Your reply makes no sense. My question was about CPU cores. I cannot add more cores to my current 4, can I. I can see my core usage in MSI afterburner. hyz4 1 Posted April 8, 2019 Can someone with 8 core Ryzen check core usage with something like Afterburner? (I was not able to find anything like that on YT)
pilgrim* 3514 Posted April 8, 2019 (edited) << I have currently a 4790K, Dayz seems to be using 4 cores >> .. seems to me all i7 4790Ks HAVE 4 cores .. so no surprise what DayZ would be using in your box ? I run it on an AMD twin core 3.6 Ghz with a good graphics card - with the OS and ALL the game files on SSD . DayZ works better now than it did before 2017 no probs.. I have a better rig here on the same desk but I cant be bothered to move DayZ over, it runs fine on this one. Truth - windows is really the root cause of 99% of all cr@p for what's happening in game hardware ATM try here : https://www.game-debate.com/hardware/ & look at the rest of the site = lot of info & opinions on these pages but you have to search for it xxP Edited April 8, 2019 by pilgrim*

hyz4 1 Posted April 9, 2019 If we agree that 1core with 2 threads=1core as 2 threads on a core doesn't provide a noticeable difference in game, I would say Dayz is using 4 cores/6 cores at most. I like to think that dayz engine and code development has finished and as far as I know, optimization if planned will not enable the engine to use additional cores. i7 4790K - 4cores Ryzen 5 2600 - 6 cores Ryzen 7 2700X - 8 cores
