Nearly everything here sounds pretty awesome, realistic hiding ( no more unfair grass rendering where u cant see sh*t through grass and opponent sees u laying on plain field ), realistic body transformation etc.
That's not really suggestion, should've posted it in General discussion, but few features from scum in dayz would be pretty cool.

an insertion of this feature would be a copy.
I would go even a bit further: they can be opponents / infected / animals only see in the 3pp if they would be visible in the line to your head also.
That means in the example of the Scum-Video you can see the opponent only as long as he could see you (eye to eye line on realtime)

I do actually like how they do camo in that game where the player just doesn't end up rendering if they're hiding in a bush etc.

The third person thing however doesn't look that great. I've seen modders do it in arma 3 and the fact that they just disappear on screen is a bit jarring.

Has anyone tried a depth of field effect based on the character's focal point? So, if for example, someone is hiding around the corner, they won't be able to make out/focus on anything beyond maybe a few centimeters or so past the wall they're hiding behind.

It's a leveling game with eye candy.  IMO - The serious players have their table of skills and aptitudes open on their 2nd screen, interactive, and a calculator by the keyboard. & you need reaction time, but unless you have the points/skills/aptitudes/bonus calculator working that won't help a lot. - Not complaining.

The things i love in SCUM and would love in DayZ is:
- Dynamic body build changes based on how much u eat, run etc and DayZ devs could actually do something like that and it wont be a Copy since its how it works irl ( Actually even GTA San Andreas has it ).
- Sound based on gear weight or what you're wearing.

Neutral opinion:
- Awarness, i think people behind a screen already has it, how big ur screen is, how good your headphones etc and overall reaction, "skill" of spotting people etc like knowing where to look.
- Camo Rendering is good concept, but even better would be just render damn grass atleast in 1km distance ( optimize somehow ).

- Wallhack Outline

Wallhack outline and the levelsystem are bad.

i think it is synonymous only about the consept behind it. The experience should be the level of a player.

That makes a lot more sense, (rather than all that 'tactical sense' stuff). I think there's a lot of potential for this sort of character design, especially when characters are essentially the driving narrative to DayZ.

As for grass...can we have something like this please?:

      having died to the zambies when i tried to 3 v 1 with a shovel i found myself near electro with my friend, who had found himself a mosin but no bullets.
      We spied a few people running down a street and followed them, planning our heist along the way. Upon discovering that one of them had an M4A1 the plans had to change, no more could we bluff with the mosin; M4 man had to die, running forward, while my friend stayed hidden down the street, I ran at them yelling "FRIENDLY WHADDUP DEBBADAWG" (a true carebear call), the other 2 split but low and behold M4 man stood like a rock, waving at me spouting some plebeian bullshit. My friend had been discovered and was creating quite a racket with another fresh spawn who wanted to trade or something. M4 man causally said to me "is that your friend over there"? "no don't know who that is" I replied, pulling out my fire axe. In a quick motion it crashed into the back of the distracted M4 man, his death immediately brought forward 3 other axe wielding people, bent on stealing my loot.
       
      Time was of the essence, I had to make it clear that it was my loot, "BACK OFF HE'S MY KILL" I screamed while I continued to hack away at the unconscious body with my axe. Luck was on my side, as my friend showed up and proceed to begin crowd control with his mosin, but one of the passerby's called his bluf and ran at him with an axe. Acting quickly I grabbed up the M4, prying it from its previous owners hands, and let loose an 8 round burst into the terrible bandit who was trying to kill my friend. Following the shots and subsequent death of the random we looted the corpses and headed off to parts unknown, blessedly equipped with 12 5.56mm and 82 7.62mm rounds.

      Globally banned with the last wave, using a private script injector so battleye seems to be getting their shit together, bout fucking time. Now instead of being an even larger douche and buying some poor saps stolen CD Key for 2$ I am gonna wait for standalone to come out and hope to hell it doesn't allow scripting in things like, client side vehicles that only you can see or use (although running people over in a car they cannot see or hear is mildly humorous), giving yourself a Gau-8 disguised as a makarov and around 100,000 rounds of ammo (then destroying all the cities of chernaurus with it), teleporting, godmode, and other standard hacker fare. It was entertaining while it lasted but the most fun I had with dayz was when it was new and I was unaware of all the exploiting, glitching, and hacking that was possible. Here's to hoping the standalone can deliver the good that dayz did without the mountain of terrible shit that the ArmA engine piled onto it.
