Nebulae3 422 Posted February 23, 2016 (edited) I can`t hold the weapon still even when I crouch on the ground holding my breath - I still have breathing sway on my weapon which is beyond normal or real life breathing mechanic when u aim at a target at 200 meters away. I know this, because I've been doing competitive shooting for over ten years time in real life, and the current weapon movements when u lay still on the ground in dayz doesn`t reflect that at all, and the dev. team should look into it related to breathing mechanic. Nebulae3 422 Posted February 23, 2016 (edited) The dev. dayz team which doing a great job with other aspects of the game, but I feel like I am drunk when I try to aim properly, hehe. :) It`s very noticeable when you use a long range scope at a tree about 300 meters and beyond. It shouldn`t be posstible to hold it perfectly still at 600 meters and beyond, but pls. look into it - the current weapon movements while aiming & holding your breath is too much to be honest. iEaTbUgZ4FrEe 0 Posted February 23, 2016 You might have a broken limb - make a splint and weapon sway disappears. Or crouch for a few minutes - that is what I usually do to steady my aim.

Hi ori42. I mentioned this in 2014. I thought it would be useful for the whole ArmA series to make sway more realistic - more like the way a shooter really aims and how the human body works. It is easy to understand why a programmer would do it wrong (without thinking about it, without ever noticing the mistake) because there is an easy maths function readily available that you can plug in to create the sway effect - it is a standard very common math formula, unfortunately it is totally the wrong one to imitate human aiming. It is the formula for orbiting objects and it is used all over the digital world: gaming, websites, etc.; it's just the wrong formula here. It "looks" kind of ok until you think about it, and no one wanted to think about it. it is a pity because BI are a simulation company at root, and it is the kind of 5-line alteration (one simple math function) that could be programmed and tested and adjusted in an afternoon. Really this generated .. close to zero interest Edited February 23, 2016 by pilgrim / pilgrim
Guest Posted February 23, 2016 I'm waiting when they start to improve, pretty much redo the whole wapon sway mechanics. BIS has a habit to overdo sway and do it bit against the real life. I've written a pretty long post maybe two years ago and everything that I've said in Arma 3 sway feedback applies also on DayZ. Generally the sway has always been more horizontal when it should be more vertical.

Etherious 907 Posted February 23, 2016 The DayZ dev team has already said it's not working as intended, and not where they want it anyways. They will be fixing it later on (not any time soon afaik).
skynet83 3 Posted February 14, 2017 (edited) I really don't like the current sway. I wish it would be removed altogether, but honestly i don't have an alternative suggestion. I think if sway will remain it needs to be almost non existant for light pistols. I feel i can keep something like a glock dead still and have accuracy when i pick up my friends paintball pistol. You want sway removed, why not ask for god mode also.
