It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...

Recommended Posts

The .57 update has been the best stable patch yet, to say the least. I know more of the "survivalist" type players may not agree, and I can understand why. Let me just state that I enjoy the game in many ways depending upon the mood I'm in. At times I enjoy scouring the map in a sparsely looted server, town for town hoping that I may be lucky enough to find food. Other times I enjoy the convenience of spawning in, finding and AK and getting into some PVP action right away. I think it would be cool to implement a choice of different loot economies based on the server you choose. I'm sure this has been discussed, I just don't see how it won't help the issue with kos and difference of play styles.

that will be an option on private shards later, but not right now, this is too early in the development process. be sure there will be mod/special server with ton's of hight end military gear and other with barely a soda can on the whole map. we just have to wait for the 1.0 realease  ;)

We're in times of plenty right now - like I mentioned in other posts, my recommendation is to hit up the new guard buildings and practice up on your weapons. Because of the persistence off and loot a plenty after server reboots now people basically owe it to themselves to try as many different guns as they can because they're so plentiful.

As mentioned, once modding arrives, you'll most likely get your shot at this setup :)

So what makes this the worst of times?  I don't get it, survival is working great on all fronts; though I haven't seen anything other than cows and chickens.  This update is the best yet, agreed.

Most sensible thing I've seen on here in a while :)

As mentioned in other threads, I think spawning loot in random areas around the map for server restarts will go a long way in balancing DayZ gameplay. No need to make anything "rare". The random spawns of loot will serve that purpose and make the game fair to all play styles. No one can honestly complain when everyone deals with the same loot frequency. And it encourages players to move throughout the entire map.

Well my point was that it may be the worst of times for other players who may not be so crazy about looting up with such ease. I personally love it, but I could understand how survivalist players would prefer a map that's harder to loot.

My personal preference would be somewhere in between .55 and .57's loot.  I just know my playtime has skyrocketed since .57.  I'm really eager to see the loot economy working in its full glory.  I guess it's feast or famine until then. :)

I didn't really enjoy .56 so I took a breather.

Dayz is of course in Alpha, so I dip in and out when I feel that need.  I played 300 hours in the first few builds, so taking time off and enjoying the big changes is the most enjoyable way to play for me.

I can't be the only one finding it really tedious?

And no, I'm not a PVP'er or gear up in 30 mins type.

It's the best patch by miles based on smoth inventory system, but yeah too much loot at the moment.

I really miss item persistence on tents though.

Ye it's all about the mood for sure.

I hate this game as much as I love it. Sometimes I can't help but sending all the devs to hell for the latest "death by glitch" - But everytime I start all over as a freshspawn all is forgiven immediately and I would like to hug them.

Is weird... is silly... love it

Problem is, many don't understand the modding part and many of the posts are misdirected about the development phase. They cant grasp items are being tested etc.. and everything changes patch to patch.

Complaints come from pre design flaws that are being worked on. I wish there was an easier way to explain it. 90% of the posts are redundant now.

Most of all, they cant grasp its alpha and alpha is testing the structure lol

To tell the truth, I had more fun trying to find food and only finding my own death(starvation). The thing is, if everything was found easily, as other patches have been, then there is no struggle and gets boring fast. People say the PvP is fun, but in my experience the lag and/or desync kills that style for me. I can always play COD for that playing style, because when I shoot someone in the head, they die. But currently this game is not optimized for the Player/Player interactions, sure it can be done but it is painful to do so. And then the survival style doesn't work so well without the persistent loot system, ie tents.

So yes I had more fun on the starving patches. Not because of lack of food but, more so because of lack of Everything. No ammo/guns means more talking and interactions

That's great, Steve. Now that we have your ONE playstyle covered, the developers can relax knowing that Steve is happy. They should release the game now and call it, "Starve1Z1".

Great reaction to someone having a different opinion then you. Well played.

Perhaps we could call your game, "Even post-apocalypse, Chernarus is still communistic."

Haha, Steve. You're right. You were just sharing your experience. I apologize. You have my beans.

Nah.. 0.57 and 0.55 haven't been so good. One has a lot of very noticable glitches and bugs and weird loot while 0.55 was terrible in other ways. 0.54 still beats them both i think.
