Funkmaster Rick 373 Posted June 13, 2015 Leather and regular sewing kits do nothing to it, or its constituent parts. How's about duct tape? What's the deal?
hleVqq 139 Posted June 13, 2015 You can no longer repair such things as helmets and vests. Duct tape might still work to get them to Damaged quality, though haven't tested.
Whyherro123 2283 Posted June 13, 2015 What do you think duct tape is going to do to a cracked ceramic plate?Duct tape will also not "repair" the fabric of the vest itself, where the "bulletproof" properties of which are due to the incredibly-close weave of the fabric. As soon as that weave is disrupted, no duct tape nor sewing will fix it.

Funkmaster Rick 373 Posted June 13, 2015 Do be fair, Herro, the plate vests currently in the game do not have ceramic inserts. If they were, they'd take bullets like high-Gothic plate armour took arrows. They'd shrug and say, "Meh."

They dissapate the energy of the bullet by breaking. The ceramic plates are not even what actually stops the bullets, the kevlar does, the plates reduce the trauma to the wearer. Bororm 1156 Posted June 13, 2015 Where do you find plate carriers this patch? Haven't seen any yet. It's dumb that the attachable pouches don't fit in to any backpacks/vests (maaaybe the leather vest) because of their weird shape. Making it basically impossible to carry them around till you find the plate carrier itself.

Pouches can be found at guard houses, wrecked tanks and other areas too. Pistol holsters can be found at police cars, and outhouses. The pouches still fit in a hunting backpack or mountain backpack. Zing Freelancer 58 Posted June 13, 2015 I tried using sewing kit, leather kit and duct tape on multiple different objects without these objects changing status from Damaged to Worn. Dunno if I missed a patch note or bug.

J4G 92 Posted June 13, 2015 Have you try fix every part separately with leather sewing kit?
ColdAtrophy 1850 Posted June 15, 2015 Have you try fix every part separately with leather sewing kit? I haven't gotten down to Prison Island to try it on the Plate Carrier vest itself yet, but I can confirm that this works on the holster and the additional pouches. One must use a regular sewing kit. JohnMcClane 19 Posted June 15, 2015 Do the plate carriers in game provide any level of gunshot protecton yet?
Whyherro123 2283 Posted June 16, 2015 Do the plate carriers in game provide any level of gunshot protecton yet? No. Just cosmetic.
Bororm 1156 Posted June 16, 2015 No. Just cosmetic. Not entirely true, all the vests provide protection. It doesn't offer any more than any other supposedly (have yet to see hard evidence of that), but it does provide protection in having another layer of clothing. Funkmaster Rick 373 Posted June 16, 2015 Plate carriers provide a +5 bonus to one's pimp-factor, thus protecting you from bullets by blinding the shooters with the sheer power of your swag.
