Getting stuffed faster than I can drink.

I'm sitting in a small house next to a water source. I am already Energized, but I can't get Hydrated. I seem to be losing water extremely fast. There is no "Sick" status, but I keep getting a pop-up saying "I feel a rumble in my bowels" in red.

 

Even when I did manage to get myself both Energized and Hydrated I didn't seem to be gaining blood at all.

 

EDIT: I just passed out. I have no idea what happened or why I was losing water so fast. If I was sick I have no idea what might have caused it.

 

EDIT 2: I just died, but please tell me what happened to me D:

As you say "water source", do you mean like a lake?
Cause if you were low on health/blood & you drink from a lake, you can get cholera.

Maybe that was the problem?

Don't forget to purify your water.  Speaking of which did they add a boil water mechanic yet, or are purification tabs our only salvation for now?

Sounds like you were sick. At that point, you could have tried some charcoal tabs, or maybe drinking until you throw up a few times. Hard to say what made you sick without more details. Sometimes, people will take canteens or water bottles and fill them with some nasty stuff. Maybe you drank diesel instead of water.

I've had food poisoning in Dayz and can confirm that it will wear off if you manage to keep yourself hydrated and energized. Do you have any idea how you might have poisoned yourself? Did you drink any cleaning alcohol or something of the kind? I can't really understand why something would get you killed that fast, but generally it is a good idea to keep moving. If your character tells you he is tired, make a fire and settle down for a little while. Fires generally seem to help with a lot of issues (like a slight shake when you aren't sick). 

 

As you move about you burn calories and even though you may become thirsty, you can at least drink again soon without getting stuffed. I usually get energized and hydrated first and then it is really easy to keep health up. It takes a while after getting yourself energised and hydrated, before it will say healing. That's another good reason to move about and get balanced. The screen may stay black and white for a while, but start turning color back rapidly at somepoint.

 

What puzzles me is that you got no other indicators of your sickness. The "bowel moving" is still two stages away from "I have to throw up", which is truly a low point I passed and thought I'd be dead soon. But just eating, drinking and moving around slow paced made things better. You were either really close to that point where the health turned again, or you didn't receive all the messages about your health status. It took for me about an hour to get myself back to full health after the puking.

Just had this happen to me today.i was health with light green hydrated and dark green energized so went to the forst for a quick snack, was trying to eat  but it kept saying there was an error putting item in hand. so logged into another server and it said i was dying of hunger and dehydration. all the food i had tried too eat before was still there, so i was lucky enough to have enough food and drink to get healthy again. but after a while i seen i was sick so i got charcoal tablets and antibiotics but was still sick.

i kept losing hydration really quick and eventually had to drink till i through up. the sick status was gone then so i thought great im cured But nope, started getting the ''i feel a rumble in my bowls''. i kept beside a water pump for about an hour or more but kept losing hydration quicker than i could drink . i read online somewhere it could take 10 hours of play before you were cured from a disease, so at that point i hide my gear and killed myself. lol. i wasnt standing next to a water pump for the next 10 hours.

 

not sure how i caught it, i did eat some cooked human meat when i was nearly dying after i logged back in. i wounder if that guy had it would i have got it off him by eating him. anyway it a doggy dog world out there. i sure the water i drank was from a pump as i usually hit them up between the towns i go to but cant be sure as i was a while since i drank from it.

Thanks but the artice doesn't mention whether or not antibiotics and other similar items are working yet (purification pills, pain killers, charcoal tabs, etc.).

To be fair, I've yet to test myself as I have not contracted anything (insert STD joke).  However I tend to avoid pond water and the like and stick to purification of well's just to be safe.

I use purification tablets and apples for hydration so I've not had cholera yet. It's possible I'm just getting lucky but it seems likely that they are working.

I drank from a pond a few days ago and I was good to go. One pond isn't exactly scientific. I wish we knew whether or not all the pills were working. I generally drink from water pumps but you know how DayZ can foil the best laid plans. I was geared up in Balota yesterday, got hit by one of the infected (everyone says they are the infected yet on the devblogs they always say zombie, which is it?) and started bleeding. Went into my inventory and realized I had no rags, no bandages and no sewing kit. My buddy didn't have any of those things either, we both bleed to death, good times.

 

By the way, do you know if there is a chance of infection if you use the sewing kit to patch yourself up? My buddy brought that up yesterday and it sounded resonable.

Cholera for sure. I got it on my public hive character it blew through hydration like nobody's business. Surprisingly I had a sick message tho... But based on your symptoms it's the exact same.

I recently got sick from either eating uncooked meat, or drinking from a pond (I'd recently done both). I simply kept on drinking until I vomited. That seems to cure any sickness straight away.

This happened to me.  I got sick from drinking bad water.  Took antibiotics.  Sickness cleared.  The thirst from the sickness remained, draining my hydration extremely fast.  I eventually had to suicide and scramble back to my corpse to continue on my journey.

 

Definitely a bug in my case.
