Players turn into a zombie?

just a thought of that if a player takes so much damage from zombies they becoming infected and slowly turn into a zombie.

 

seems like a cool thought especially if your playing in a group and somebody gets cornered makes them a little more threating other than they hit me oh ill just bandage and im perfectly fine.

Zombies spreading diseases/infections when they hit you hard enough to make you bleed... make sense. Most likely how they got infected in the first place.

 

turning from player controled character to player contronled zombie... not making too much sense there since the point of the game is to survive. So if you turn into a Z, it means, you failed at surviving, so kinda failed the game.

 

Now, player corpses turning into zombies, that would be fun.

This idea has been shut down time and time again, by players, and more importantly, by devs. Zombies don't exist in DayZ, more just disease ridden people. They aren't undead, it's just their brains and whatnot don't function as they should. People don't come back from the dead, ever. I'll try and find the actual quote from one of the devs if I can for ya.

well what about changing it slightly so that you have control over your character untill the infection becomes to much and then you die, your charecter then gets controlled by ai but when u beome infected while geared , your charecter stays geared ?

cause think imagine playing in a group while your in a firefight bunkered inside a building  your infection takes over and kills you , your group then has to deal with you as a threat along with other players / infected

In DayZ, within the lore, it's known that the players are immune to the disease. Like others said too, the infected in DayZ are not "zombies" or undead, they are similar to the rage virus infected in 28 Days/Weeks later movies.

 

The "Z" in DayZ is for zero, as in Day Zero, when your adventure begins spawning on the coast.

It's a nice idea but in reality that wouldn't happen.

 

It would just turn into "Oh, I'm infected. Let's walk somewhere easy to get to and then commit suicide."

But, if you've been following Dean, and played the mod, it was pretty obvious since the start...
