Hicks on Twitter: Upcoming Map Change(s)

Recommended Posts

Hicks posted this little teaser on Twitter earlier. Not sure yet what it means since no information was provided, but at the very least it looks like this section of land in the north will be getting developed somewhat. This is at coordinates 056 008.

There is speculation, based on what can be seen in the picture, that this is more than just a teaser about map changes. I'll keep this updated if he says anything else.

If you look at the tabs open, the next one is titled River_NewStreams, don't know if that's a clue or unrelated though. Potentially shown in the screenshot also but it's hard to tell from the quality of the screenshot, could just be the terrain formation. (highlighted below)

I firmly believe that people are looking too much into that. Everything that has been said about rivers up to this point has been that they will remain simple due to the game engine. I would love to be wrong, though ;)

My speculation is that it is just another round of map changes for the North. I don't think this will be a full-blown/named town, but I also don't think this is the only area where we will see changes. The entire town of Smirnovo has yet to be added, Skalka is begging for a recreation area, and of course the military base in the far northwest.

Let the deforestation continue!

But then where will we get clean water to drink?

This upocmming addition excited me the most. Looking forward to it! :)

also, i have my fingers crossed for a jawn dropping Tisy base.

The markings on the ground seem like there might be some buildings we havent seen yet.

What about school building? Any thoughts where it will be placed?

I see it being placed in one of the older (legacy) towns or cities just to spice things up a bit.

In regard to the image posted with today's Status Update:

My best estimation is that this is in Gvozdno, specifically at the intersection located @ 086 035. Looks like they'll be uprooting the cabin that is there currently and replacing it with one of these new "village stores." Sounds like they will be doing this in a number of places just like when they added police stations to the game.

There is a vertical white bar that appears in the top, left center of this screen capture. That bar/road/building is not on the current DayZ DB map. I don't know if that is "the change," or if more extensive changes are planned.

I see buildings and paved areas as well, in addition to paths that do not currently exist there. I imagine it will look a lot like the farm area that got added in 0.55 near Tisy, or similar to the area around Belaya Polana.

More crappy urban just what we (dont) need.

You had to have willingly skipped straight over the picture. What was posted is about as not-urban as it gets.

Maybe we will finally see that possible military installation to the far north west corner of the map. Would be cool anyways. That way ppl get away from the Island and central map area more. Iv walked the area though and it definitely looks like they could add in a huge fort structure if they wanted to for the future.

Would also love to see some more landmass changes. New streams rivers, etc would be welcome.

All honesty, they should just pick up that military camp near Myshkino and plop it up in the NW corner. It's absolutely ludicrous where it is now.

More wilderness developers! Hear me?!

I haven't given up on dense trees yet. I seem to remember that the devs were planning to rework the tree models. If so, this in conjunction with some undergrowth could really transform the remaining rural areas. Once we get the full implementation of DX11, we could even see some fog/mist added to the mix.
