there are some servers with the time sped up, apparently they have an 'X' at the end of the server time. Don't know if that is what you are referring to?

I think what he might mean is that a very high proportion of servers (at least here in the UK) are defaulting to a complete 24 hour day/night cycle, so that most of them will all be at the same time.

ah ok, yeah it sucks. I like the changing time and the twilight in the game is so beautiful.

Not sure myself but would be interested to know. Found nothing on it either.

Most servers I have access to are 24/7 day. The few day/night servers are all very low pop.

20% of servers in the server list are on day time right now.

On MPGS the time acceleration 'x' at the end of the time stamp doesn't work as well as time acceleration itself.

My 2 home servers are on 4 hr restarts starting at 11pm, they were previously starting at 9am.

I've always wanted to say this..

Not a bug, its a feature.

But seriously - DayZ has always by design operated off of a real time 24 hour clock that is tied to the physical time where the server is located. That said, community rented servers (both private and public) have several options to customize the time on their servers.

- Custom static server startup time

- Accelerated Time

The accelerated is so nice though.

If you want to prevent servers from running empty, all servers should just be linked to one certain accelerated time, that also shifts position every day, by one hour.
This way, all servers will be night/day at the same time, people from all around the world who play only for a small time, on a certain moment will experience different times and everything is pretty fair.

Atleast that's how I'd like it :p

Would be great if day/night could be part of the game again...its just a waste that nobody likes it. Like its now, its like running through sunny greece 24/7.

Is there a thread or tutorial to help with tweaking and setting up acceleration?

I really enjoy the idea of allowing server owners to play with their server settings and look forward to more options. Just feel we need in depth info regarding using/managing these settings.

Yes its a nice feature and the twilight period is very nicely done.... but the most time I have to play is after the kids are in bed, so does this mean I can only play in the dark now?

that would be a real pain... and would take the fun out of the game for me...

I've just gotten word from my GSP that this is a feature. I'm completely upset with this being a feature I can't turn on/off. Great way to crush a population.  :(

About 7 posts up Hicks just mentioned that you can set custom static server start up time.  To me that sounds like you can set the time your server picks up after a restart.  Set it to 10 a.m. and no more darkness for your server.

That is absolutely incorrect!

I'm renting with MPGS and they don't have the time of day feature. This was a global feature for all GSP's when private shards came out and nowhere in the TOS did MPGS indicate I wouldn't have this feature.

I've got 2,000 people in my community and 650 on our carefully processed whitelist and I can't keep anybody on because of this issue. 50/50 straight to 10/50.

Naturally, I would like to be compensated for the lack of services. Completely irate atm.

could you not find out if other server hosts offer it the system (as from what Hicks has said it is something you should be able to set) so maybe changing provider would be a good solution (I realise that for the time being you are still paying for a server that you are not happy with)

I'm playing on the SepticFalcon private hive and it has an "x" next to the time stamp, and I can confirm that the accelerated time works. Feels like a constant timelapse, which I'm not particularly a fan of. I love "real-time" time passing servers. It's just a matter of opinion really.

How come some service provider gives you the ability to select the time of day at which the server gets reset when it restart and other provider don't ? Is it also part of the price tag?

Naturally, moving is the answer. Problem is, we pay quarterly so we're here for a while.

perhaps by contacting them and informing that they are not supplying you with the option to set something that is supposed to be one of the features entitled to a server owner then you could get them to cancel the agreement you have with them and refund any outstanding rent

I had to put in a ticket with MPGS for the accelerated time to actually function. They have a numerical value next to the function in the ACP that doesn't work until you put in a ticket apparently.

MPGS is the only provider I've done business with that doesn't have this feature. I've been with Fragnet as well as Gameservers (Dayz.st if you count the mod).

They have a solid 5 day (at the beginning of service) money back policy. Server ran great for the first 5 days then its been one ticket after another since. I've literally had close to 150 tickets with them and man, let me tell you...the ticket system is absolutely horrid.

They will not offer a refund. I've been down that road several x with them. They keep crying alpha, thing is...not having features every other GSP has isn't related to the game being in an alpha state.

That's a terrible way to run a server hosting business.  I was recently toying with the idea of getting a server of my own.  Originally I had been thinking Fragnet, and after this I'm definitely not choosing MPGS.

Fragnet was  great honestly. ACP is nice and tickets get answered super fast.

The only reason I left them was a few builds back the server was crashing like every 1-2 hours for weeks on end. It put a massive strain on our admins.
