When i join a clan to look for people to play with and just kill random people for my enjoyment.

Ever 1/4 people i spoke with does the following

Own a Gun

Know military tactic

know bullet velocity and power

Knows how guns work and how they function

Knows the specific difference between an American Helicopter and a Russian

People in this game take it too serious

That or they just want to be military specialist wannabes

All they say is

"AKM is stronger because it has a bigger caliber, and it has a stronger bullet velocity"

Very annoying when people do that.

You don't sound smart you sound like a wannabe and i am pretty sure a lot of people know you're not in the military and does not own a gun

Citing in game strengths and weaknesses is not being a wannabe, it is knowledge. Sounds like youre being all pissy because people know more than you. Honestly, that stuff is common knowledge. Knowing it doesnt make you a wannabe.

Every day people won't know about bullet velocity

And why would i be mad if someone knows more than me ON military tactics in a GAME.

Knowing it makes you intelligent, but using military tactics and call outs in a game is bat shit crazy and you are a wannabe

No one uses the word Klicks out of military context, if you said that in a meeting you would sound kinda dumb and unprofessional

Some people enjoy certain things, and certain ways about going through things. Some people just have certain knowledge, some people might like to RP an Ex-Mil type. Just because someone is different gives you no right to go and bash and disrespect them. If you don't like it, that's fine, but expressing that like this is just wrong.

It is a video game. people play video games, to get an artificial "quench for adventure". That's why video games are the #1 entertainment industry in the world. If someone wants to be in a group that takes things seriously like "if they were really there" then by all means, do so. Who are you to judge how other people play their games? and come complaining about it on forums where no one gives a hoot? If you want to contribute to the development of this game, then do so. But if you are just going to get your behind hurt, then take it out elsewhere. Not on forums where people go for information and advise. Thanks.

• I own a few
• Tactics are not some top secret knowledge. Shame on me for understanding supression and flanking
• I don't know energy numbers but understand the performance of different calibres
• I can spot the difference between Hips, Hinds, Havocs and Akulas to Little Birds, Blackhawks, Apaches, and Cobras among other helicopters
• I like to win firefights more than lose them
• I've had an interest in military functions and history for a very long time now

whilst i did giggle @ "tango follow me", i couldnt ask for a better information on enemy location than " x oclock x clicks".

 

What's really annoying is getting sloppy info such as "theres a sniper on the roof". Gee, a roof, thanks.

I do not believe DayZ was originally intended to be about PvP military style tactical gun battles.

 

The authenticity aimed for by the devs, and the games origins as a mod from a military sim game, ensure that many people from all areas of firearms enthusiasts will naturally gravitate to this game.

 

As an open world sandbox game, you can make "the story" of DayZ what ever you want, I just resent the lack of imagination that this just a KoS or mil-sim game play style.

 

I know a little about bullet drop and calibers prior to DayZ just from playing other games that featured bullet physics.

 

I could also probably understand more military jargon than I realize, but this is not what I came to DayZ for.

 

I also believe that a lot of how you choose to play actually boils down to the age of the player.

 

Young, restless people will be more likely to KoS.

 

Older people tend to play more neutral.

 

Since WW1 we've all been trained, especially military folks to, "shoot the silhouette". This breaks down the natural reflex to not shoot/kill another human.

 

Now put a gun in the hands of someone trained this way in a video game and they will shoot anything that moves (that can't holler back on their TS).

 

The current work being done on increasing zombie numbers and zombie AI may change a lot of this.

 

I have felt for a long time now that A LOT of people are "comfortable" using DayZ in a way that won't jibe with future updates.

A lot of people use military tactics to play this game and usually those are the people who go in and wipe out towns. Knowing about the guns and bullet velocity gives you a big advantage in game instead of going in and spraying or shoot and hope it hits they will be more accurate. and with the military talk a lot of people like to role play in this game. if you don't like how they play don't play with them that's all. no need to come on the forums to troll them. and as a lot of people mentioned already we do have a lot of ex/active military players and if they are truly military you should show them a little more respect instead of laughing at them.

Hmmm i am ex military , hmmm the clan i play Arma with are all ex military ( clan is to strong a word , we know each other from army days or through other people we knew from army days ... EDIT 3 of them are sons of ex military guys.)

 

Do we use military tactics in the odd times we get together and play Dayz, yes we do ( although its rare these days we mostly play solo or in pairs these days).

 

Why do we use these tactics , hmmm its a survival game right?? You know one of the best ways to survive a gun fight is to have tactics and organized communication right??

 

Sure some may not find it a fun way to play but for some its second nature and well IT WORKS or soliders wouldnt do it they would be like bandit by the door" what door" across the road that door" which road " oh fuck i am dead " so am i why ,didn't you shoot him " because you didnt tell me where the fuck he was......

I agree. I remember one time, me and my friend were in Cherno, and he said there was a sniper on the roof. I hid in the PD, only for a PSO1 scope AKM guy to come downstairs and blow my brains out all over some naked bambi who happened to walk in. It is not necessary to be super specific, but at least say what building they are on.
