HappyXceed (DayZ) 28 Posted March 5, 2015 I was playing DayZ about 10 minutes ago, and a little kid came up to me and said he was friendly. I had just spawned at the military base right above the Novo Town Hall, and I was decked, but I only had an ice axe as a weapon. He came up to me after he found a machete, and said. I want your stuff. He rushed me and I knocked his skull in. Have you ever been KOS'd or attempted KOS'd. If so, tell me the story, I am interested to hear or see(post video if you have footage) what has happened to you.

DJK (DayZ) 1 Posted March 5, 2015 Have you ever been KOS'd or attempted KOS'd. i think we all know the answer to that.. as to "friendly" KOS experiences.. met a "friendly" guy one time.. we spoke a bit then proceeded to loot some houses.. until we saw a pistol.. and the hackin' began.. apparently he reallllyyy wanted that gun..another time, i was just fooling around on the coast looking for some ppl to give them some gear.. met one guy who supposedly was "friendly", gave him a rifle and we parted ways, only to come back 2-3 minutes later and started shooting.. frankly.. i could tell countless stories about being KOS'd or attacked by "friendlies", but they're all the same crap.. luckily i have learned my lesson.. i still don't attack other players without a reason.. but i avoid large groups, heavily armed players, and KOV (kill on voice) ANY squeakers. Also stalk players before contact.. if possible.. just to get a feeling about their intentions. BUT.. there are genuinely kind players out there.. met some in the strangest moments.. ;)
HappyXceed (DayZ) 28 Posted March 5, 2015 I didn't KOV him because I am somewhat of a squeaker to, but I don't KOS and I am entirely friendly.
Deathlove 2286 Posted March 5, 2015 There are friendly ppl but every person should be treated with extreme caution. Allot of times if i have no choice i usually I will talk with them but i make it clear that i dont want them following me. If they persist than its without a doubt there are other motives invovled. Its when you get ppl with guns that problems really start. Its not all the time but ppl are allot more bold with guns than without.
therandomredstone 432 Posted March 5, 2015 I have a moderately high-pitch voice. (or used to anyways) and players always (or used to) think of me as the 'typical squeaker'. I remember once I had an AUG and Smersh Vest and such, and I came across this little 13 year old kid who had a MP-133 shotgun pistol grip, and thought it would be a good idea to try to rob me. I was drinking from a fountain and he snuck up on me and said "hands up dumbass" I said "woah woah woah, ok ok." and while I was standing up, he said "respect my authori---..." I pulled out my python and put 3 bullets in his head before he could finish his sentence. But anyways let me get back on topic. You don't trust anyone in DayZ. If someone ends up screwing you over, you have the worst feeling in the world. My motto is: "Everyone in DayZ is hostile. No matter what. But that doesn't mean you still can't have a friendly conversation with them." If I find a player who is kind or good at acting kind, ill drop them some food and tell them to skidattle. But if they don't, I don't hesitate to shoot them. Back on the beach for you!

And if you think you cant...i eat you several times or maybe leave a teddybear stuffed with your very own ass as a Steak. You will Change...soon I dont care if People want to murder me as Long as they have a good Story to go along with it. ( like last night where 6 axewhileding skirtwearing maniacs tried to eat me.... -_- ) Edited March 5, 2015 by {Core}BlackLabel

And if you think you cant...i eat you several times or maybe leave a teddybear stuffed with your very own ass as a Steak. You will Change...soon I wont kill on sight either, only guys i killed so far have actively tried to kill either me or my friends and then its all pvp for me. When i see a player lately i usually stalk them for quite a while before/if i take contact thru voice comms i talk for a while behind cover and if he seems friendly enough i can then come out and trade something or if he is in need give him something. What make this game so good for me is that its more than pvp and i feel better helping out a survivor than taking him out.

TheScruffyBandit 382 Posted March 5, 2015 KoS means kill on sight, not everyone who kills you killed you on sight. Perhaps they stalked you for 30 minutes to gain an advantageous position.Perhaps they watched you from the shadows to ascertain your disposition.Perhaps they tracked you for several kilometers across the map, hunting you without your knowledge.Perhaps they luled you into a false sense of security, then betrayed you for their own gains. I get tired of people using KoS to mean "the bad man killed me" as though, for some reason that killing people isn't a valid tactic within DayZ. Killing on sight means precisely and exclusively that the very first thing they did upon seeing you was kill you, without weighing up the situation or giving consideration to any other action besides shooting you. I've been stalking a guy for 30min just to decide to leave him alone because he looked too paranoid and would prob open fire as soon as i started using coms.Actually the only thing that killed me so far in this game was glitches and crashes Edited March 5, 2015 by Christoffer.s

smoq2 221 Posted March 5, 2015 (edited) A couple of times I asked a friendly bystander to take care of a zombie that was chasing me. When they agree I usually shoot them in the back. It's easier to shoot them that way. Otherwise they tend to run around in circles around you - very annoying and you run the risk of missing and wasting a bullet. Never trust a guy with a gun in this game. Edited March 5, 2015 by retro19

Approach a dude and start talking. Aim the white dot at his head and spam left mouse button to raise and fire weapon as quickly as possible. Quite fun! Only on 3pp servers, though. Chuck67 15 Posted March 5, 2015 The only time I KOS is when some starts saying friendly. My fave response to " hey I'm friendly! Don't shoot" is to say "I'm not" and proceed to kill the lying bastard.
HarryPotter (DayZ) 172 Posted March 5, 2015 Im friendly most of the time, buy yeah most people will try and rush you, especially if you have gear. If I have a melee weapon and I see a fully geared player with lots of nice stuff... well I suppose I do sometimes try to take em. If I have a good enough weapon like a mosin or repeater, I just leave them as not fussed about military gear most of the time. The amount of times Ive been killed with no weapon with my hands in the air just trying to talk to people is ridiculous

Never trust a guy with a gun in this game.I did that for a two men once. I killed three zombies and while I was bandaging one put a bolt in my skull. I hunted him down as a fresh spawn. Knocked him out, took his gun, shot him in the face, took his cleaver, cut him up and fed it to his friend.

I'm practical, not statistical.
sachad 1016 Posted March 5, 2015 My rule of thumb: The more someone tries to convince you they're friendly, the bigger the chance that they aren't. Actual friendly people do not say they are friendly, they just act it.
