Where do I find AK mags?

Mainly Ak-74, but otherwise, the tiitle says it all!

Military Barracks, which can be found in NWAF, Veresnik, Zelenogorsk, Pavlovo military base, and Prison Island. They might spawn in prison buildings or with heli crashes too, but I'm not certain.

The barracks are most where you most commonly find them. It usually goes like this: if you have an AKM, you will find Ak101 or AK74 mags, If you have an AK101, you will find AKM or AK74 mags and if you have an AK74, you will find AKM and AK101 mags.

 

You can also find them at MI heli crashes.

Like Dog and Killawife said, the barracks are your best bet, or if you want to swim, or find a submarine to get to the prison, they spawn a lot there.

The mags spawn in police stations. Found one yesterday so now I'm on the hunt for a PU scope for my sks and an AK74 for my shiny pristine AK74 mag

I have mostly found them in Barracks.  They seem rarer than AKM mags for me.

There is a drum mag on the NW side of green mountain, about 1/3 the way to the top- I was out for a jog one day and for some reason my keyboard spaz'd out and hit 'throw'. I found the AKM but not the drum. 

 

So, it's there. Good luck finding it. I wasn't able to.

Thanks for the help guys, sadly my Ak74 adventures ended on Prison Island do to an asshat with a swagnum :( Never found a single round

Next time you find a gun you want to keep but no ammo for it stash it under an out of the way tree somewhere on a persistence on server. Then you can go hunting for mags and ammo in the most dangerous places safe in the knowledge that if you get killed you can just try again without losing the gun itself (just remember that evwn persistence on servers are wiped every Wednesday during maintenance).

Look at barracks, prison island, and crashes they used to spawn in act towers and regular prisons but ever since the terrible .49 patch gone.

You could also try chopping down strategically located trees to see if a hunting backpack full of magazines appears.  Trust me, it's possible, I ruined a pristine fire axe yeaterday because I forgot which exact tree it was in.  Good thing I picked up that hatchet.  If you are running around looking for magazines, and find a bunch of felled trees, you know someone had a bit too much to drink while running to a military base to steal all of your magazines.

Theres a AK74SU mag in Cherno on the WOBO server. Its on my dead body though so you have to be very quick. Its at the top of one of the industrial buildings, I*M NOT TELLING WHICH!
