Are ladders/stairs supposed to be the most dangerous thing in the game?

It's to the point where I don't even go up in fire stations in the dark anymore.

 

Is the goal to honestly break your leg (which you insta-heal with an opiod...) every few days?

 

Not sure if this is in the list of "Please fix" but it is one of the few glaring signs to me that the game still needs a lot of work.

 

Absolutely infuriating to get lagged and take a half step one direction and oh sorry you broke your leg ruined your pants and your boots and everything in your pants.

been going up the firestation ladders and stairs since december 2013, never had this happen to me. You might wanna consider paying attention where you're moving your character next time.

For stairs, just vault whenever you go up a level. It forces the game to "reset" your position, so it now knows where you are. The "stairs glitch" occurs because you might be going upstairs, but the game still thinks you are on the ground floor and treats you like you just fell.

 

As for ladders, never died on em. Never had the glitch happen to me. Of course, I go slow on ladders, and wait a second before getting on or getting off. That might help.

It may shock you but this actually isn't my first "alpha". This isn't alpha by a long shot, but if you want to split hairs and be a dbag, Ill point you to the current patch notes for version .52. Is there somewhere there that says you can randomly break your leg walking up stairs?

 

Known Issues:

• Item locked in hands slot
• Items can't be picked up sometimes
• Left earpice sound volume is lowered sometimes
• Ghillie will probably react badly on chemlight, flare and other light sources
• Some items will visually duplicate themselves if used from the ground
• Server crashes
• Client crash when disconnected from server

Is there a nice easy place to see all known issues? Nope, there isn't. If I search for "stairs" there, I get 8 pages of issues, half of which have nothing to do with stairs.

But you know, keep just saying ALPHA lots and we can just ignore the fact the game has no real easy way to see "Known crap thats broke but a fix is coming" and "Known crap that is just broke and we aren't prioritizing".

It is a known old bug, don't go up stairs/ladders unless you are okay with this happening - looking where you are going is helpful and so is vaulting, try them out they may solve this for you

They should just make the stairs the zombies and give them AI. It is far more riveting and I am way more nervous when I have to go up any kind of stairs or ladders than I am when I face 10 zombies lol xD

I climbed the ladder to the top of the firehouse in Elecktro (city one) and a guy spawns in behind me and shoots me once. I fly straight up, vault, and as Im comin down I scream "THE LADDER GODS ARE DISPLEASED BEECH" and I landed on him. Killed him, broke my legs and I got an M4 with Acog, 2 morphine, a sawn off, and random stuff.

screw you I love this game and these devs work hard. You should try looking at the good things for once? Maybe how entertaining and fun this game is even with all the bugs. If you hate it so much don't freaking play it.

Also I just lagged off ATC and died fully geared, so ya I acknowledge it. I'm not going to quit the game though because it's still really fun.

Yeah, not had this happen since very early days in the SA. Be more careful.

 

In the last week, I've looted fire stations maybe fifteen times. The only time I've had a fracture is when I got stuck sprinting and ran off of the edge of the platform in those high loot barns. I do get an injured leg moderately regularly from fighting zombies, though I never know quite what that is. Needs a splint or morphine to heal it, but doesn't have any status effects. :/

 

Genuinely not had a breakage since maybe March or April.

FYI, this is an old and known bug and it is indeed documented. I even still remember the bug ID from the top of my head.
