LucidHills 94 Posted November 12, 2014 (edited) I have two main wishes for the inventory:Simply the ability to rotate items. Smaller, more numerous inventory blocks to allow for more item size variation. [both gifs made by me] :)EDIT: Woops. Meant to put this in the suggestions forum. svisketyggeren 662 Posted November 12, 2014 (edited) Dont quite understand the point of rotating the items..? Edited November 12, 2014 by svisketyggeren
LucidHills 94 Posted November 12, 2014 Dont quite understand the point of rotating the items..? So you can better manage your space. Carrying several multi-slot items sometimes doesn't fit but if you could just rotate one or more of them you could fit it all.It also seems silly that you can't rotate items. A sawed off shotgun for example doesn't have to always be lying flat in someone's bag. You could tuck it down the side etc.

It also allows you to fit items in places they normally wouldn't fit. Like Rotating the MP5 to fit it into the waterproof bag. EDIT: actually. it fits already. I thought the MP5 took up more space. nevermind. :P Edited November 12, 2014 by LucidHills

Yes I understand what u mean now....I assumed u meant items that already fit the backpack...or the relevant inventory....since u where showing the shotgun. IkaikaKekai 1957 Posted November 12, 2014 I thought they talked about looking into this in one of the recent status reports?
polini 65 Posted November 12, 2014 They did, when they showed the inventory concept. http://dayz.com/blog/status-report-week-of-27-oct-14 .."With new inventory system we will be able to do things like creating container on any object, locking it, dynamically change it's capacity, dynamically change number of quick-bar slots according to given container and a lot more, maybe rotating items will be possible as well."..

nettles 396 Posted November 12, 2014 I don't want to see this for the simple fact that you presented. I don't want CoD children running around with several shotguns and AKs in their backpacks. A lot of the items that shouldn't fit in bags, do fit in bags, even without general tomfuckery like rotating or inception-style storage.

In reality you could fit a lot of guns in a mountain backpack or a hunters back pack in real life. With the ability to maneuver them within the backpack for more space. Which I would be fine with, personally, but if they're disassembled they shouldn't be ready-to-use in a matter of seconds. If you remove sight systems from rifles, for instance, they need to be zeroed and calibrated correctly before they're reliable. I don't think an entire shovel or fire axe or hoe would fit in a backpack, but I certainly think a hand trowel would. Same goes with the fishing rod. I'm guessing you've never seen one on someone's back, but they're quite long and they do in fact fit into a hunter's pack for some reason.
