The Mysterious Case of HOLYSHITTHATSALOTTAGUNS

I was playing DayZ for the first time in months, doing some detective work to see if it was worth getting back into again.

 

During my venture, I was killed by two axes, once instantly, the other a long clunkfest. On my third life I was going through the new, big city, the one with the tower. On my way to that very tower I had to kill a fellow man, as he put a bullet into my chest. Now, for some reason, I was able to charge him down with a sledgehammer despite taking a 7.62x39... After killing him in a matter I thought was bullshit, I made sure to apologize over mic but didn't stop myself from taking all of his glorious shit.

 

 

I was still in my Paulie Walnuts outfit, a tracksuit, basically, and decided to head towards the tower since I had just finished royally fucking this dude (whose name was Windows 95) with a sledgehammer.

 

When I got there, I found...

 

 

There were DOZENS of SKS rifles and Blaze 95's, DOZENS of them! Everywhere, really.

 

After going through the tower of a LOTTA FUCKIN' GUNS, I noticed a pattern. There were a shitload of SKS's and Blaze 95's, but only a handful of Mosins, Repeaters, CZ's, and Sporter 22's. Derringers were all over, too, the most common of pistols in the tower, really. There was one 1911 and one P1, but there were three to four Derringers spread around.

 

On my way out, thoroughly mindfucked, Windows 95 was back. I'm not joking.

 

 

He was too mindfucked... by both a .357 to the head (and one to the chest). On my way back down I encountered a rabid freshie and that new pump shotgun.

 

 

So.. what do you guys think of these loot spawns? Since its clear something is fucking up with the tower and some other locations, too. How long has this been an issue, or this recent to .50?

Recent to .50 patch. Devs are playing around with/testing persistence and loot spawning and it's far from polished.

May have been windows 95's stash? But yeah persistance is still really rough so you see this sort of stuff ocasionally.

Although I notice an sks with a bayonet attached.. I dont think they spawn attached so may well have been placed there...

Couple of servers around are like this.

Ehehe, I have seen two servers which spawn stashes of guns and loot just like the Tower over there. The only difference is they are at a military base, oh boy, AKs after AKs, boots, ammo everywhere, vests everywhere. The priso has enough loot to get 10 fresh spawns fully geared.

It isn't the tower, it is random locations all across the map.  The loot is "pooling up" in spots, so to speak.  
 

I already found this happening 3 times in separate barracks.  Imagine my surprise at that.  Also, your pics, that is on the light end for what can actually happen.  At one barracks there were over 50 weapons, mostly AK's.

 

It isn't a server here or there, either.  It is ALL persistent servers.  The trick is finding the spots where it is happening.  In one server it is the tents at NWAF, another it is half of Elecktro.  The spots vary, and it is widespread.  

 

My advice is get your pvp on now, while you can practice with all the loot, so you know how to defend yourself come time.

No, it is definitely loot spawns. It often is like this in the tower, which seems to have a lot of gun spawns, so with each item being picked up in Novod and surroundings, there is a certain chance that guns will spawn in the tower. If as a newspawn you spawn near Novod, it is a very good bet to go to the tower for basic stuff. Everything but ammo essentially, but that is to be found in the surrounding townhouses.

sidenote...i spawned in that Little town above berezino on a 50/50 Server and walked out with shotgun + 15 bullets, mosin + 25, backpack and Food for Ages.

 

I loove how the black wodden buildings now spawn stuff...even under the beds :D

There was a whole two boxes of ammunition there, 1 box of 7.62x51 and 1 box of .357. I had found no ammunition whatsoever in any of these surrounding townhouses as you said, and I went through at least thirty or so buildings before killing Windows 95 and deciding to bolt to the tower.

LOL jk I always wonder when posting these stories that I'll get a response like that lol.  Actually I just had a similar experience recently at the NWAF.  But nowhere near the kind of good stuff you saw.  In fact, most of the stuff I found were lame like fire extinguishers and crow bars.  At most, I saw a few rifles (SKS, Blaze, Sporter) at the barracks.  Tons of Makarav (sp?) pistols.  But that's it.  Not even a single Mosin.  And worse, not even any ammo that fit the guns I was carrying.

But, yeah, I know what you mean. It's either feast of famine with DayZ. When this loot "bug" (or whatever) happens I am like a kid in a sweet shop unsure what to choose and trying to find the right ammo/magazine under all the loot.
