I am overheating

Recommended Posts

How do I get rid of "overheating" status? I took some of my cloths off, stood still outside for several minutes. The status is still there.

Is there any means of effectively getting rid of it and what are the adverse effects of the overheating?

Get your clothes off, get wet and don't run around. Overheating will drain water so make sure you have a pond nearby or something to drink.

I took my jacket, gloves and hat off and drank some water and it dropped down to 'hot'. Just like when they introduced hypothermia, the effects are exaggerated atm for testing the temperature ranges I bet.

You dont have to take any clothing off it just takes longer to cool off. I would not suggest taking anything off incase someone tries to get an easy kill on you.

It takes about 10 minutes at the most so just relax and get a bite to eat in the mean time.

Ok so we have the heat pack for battling cold this is good but now were dealing with a new monster on overheating.

So why not a rarer version of something like a ice/hot pack as an item?

original_HotColdPack.jpg

Or just a cold pack in general for sweltering hot weather?

For me the effects don't seem exaggerated at all - temperature is similar to a cooler summer day or a warmer autumn day.

When running around with Gorka pants, Balaclava, boots, helmet and backpack my temperature is about right. When stopping I get the "I am cooling off" message and my body temperature drops and when wearing a jacket I get the "Hot" status after some time. Did not test stopping and wearing a jacket yet but I guess it would be too warm - something like a (tactical) shirt might be better.

I dont get ANY messages when im cooling off unless i hit the water. For me it seems when you run you GAIN allot more heat which makes sense however if i were to just walk my temperature stays even and i don't even gain heat from it.

Clothing does not seem to have any effect at least when i was trying things on. Could all depend on what servers your on to really.

I doubt it would make sense, correct me if im' wrong but i think most of these must be stored in a freezer in order to stay cold !

People have been complaining for a long time, that there is nothing such as fatigue in the game and that you could run around endlessly without being punished.

This has changed now. I think I would get hot as well ifI had a vest, jacket and a huge backpack and sprinting all the time.

Just remember: don't sprint all the time anymore.

You are correct.

Thats true but also raw meat should be spoiling in VERY hot weather as well though to be honest.

Um if there were some way to get an electrical generator going or even a portable one i could see it working maybe with fridges you find in houses or whatever. Idk there are many options we could play out with this to make things function.

You can push it up to red "hyperthermia" until you drop. Enough time to find a pond to sit down and chill :D Jut make sure you have alot of water during travels nowadays. Wells are broken ...

Actually the cold packs in the lower part of the picture look very similar to ones I was given after a surgery.  I didn't open it but it seems like what was inside was some type of powder and a tube.  You break the tube, whatever is in it mixes with the powder, and it gets fairly cold.  They were pretty much garbage immediately though.  The cold only lasted for about 4 or 5 minutes.

Instead of investing in an AC, I could get myself about 2,000 of those for next summer. ;)

But I see your point, they may exist. I'm not sure if they would be common enough, however.

I think your right and theres a water pouch inside of the device. You hold it very tight from the top and shake it firmly for about a minute to get everything settled at the bottom you squeeze the end with the pouch to burst the inside activating the cooling. I had to use one like twice when my foot was messed up really badly this year.

Exactly ! I always have 3 canteens 100% on me at all times and a good ammount of water purification tablets (Some friends told me sickness from pond water is now in-game)

Personally, i never have been bothered even ONCE by hyperthermia... Made many travels from the coast to NWAF then back to Vybor... Pavlovo military base and ended all the way up north to the new towns, and that, without overheating once...

I always ensure that no matter where i go, i will come 2 times across a pond (Map knowledge helps a lot)

Weird thing though, after all that travelling mentionned above (Made it about 3-4 times yesterday) my combat boots never left the Pristine status...

What I discovered works best is to get soaked, then you can cool off by staying still and waiting, after something like 10 minutes you might start freezing. But running around while soaked seems to prevent you from overheating too fast.

What are you guys doing? I simply put my jacket inside my backpack for travel - no bath needed. And it doesn't even take up any inventory space (adds even in case of military jackets).

I didnt do any hard testing, but being hydrated may help cool off. If anyone can confirm a relationship that would be great!

Heavy Hyperthermia with message "I am hyperthermic", you loose 2 base water/sec, with current thirst multiplier.

Btw, player base thirst, how much per second a healthy player needs to drink to stay normal at rest, was elevated about 4 times higher, compare to 0.49.

And no, being hydrated not help you to cool off, it has no affect on matter.

2Judopunch: I do have all the proof you may need/want, PM me if interested.

I just wish they would make up their minds already.  Wearing the same gear I had in .49 would kill me from over heating.  I know, it's "alpha" but this system really needs to be worked up.
