Stable Branch - 0.50 Discussion

Recommended Posts

Yesterday i was in at a first floor in a  building and i received the message that my leg was in pain and i had a fracture then my feet was sore and after some seconds i died. At first i thought someone shot me throught the window but i didn't hear the shoot. Now i've read here on this thread that could be related to shoes consumption. Is that correct ?

Nah you simply glitched through the floor.

This. Happened to me about two weeks ago on 0.50 Experimental on the first floor of a prison building. It all happened in a matter of seconds, and it was quite confusing for someone like me who hasn't died "at random" from anything in many months. Very frustrating.

How's the thirst and hunger levels as a fresh spawn?  My character is light green hydrated, energized and healthy.  I ran from Myshkino to Chernogorsk up to Stary Sobor and I've barely had to eat and drink, maintaining the light green status during my trip.  The survival difficulty seems to be non existent this patch.

But i still was on the first floor after the messages. When i say "after few seconds" I mean like 20. I was crawling on the ground because of the fractured leg and i kept receiving warnings that my leg was in pain etc etc. Then after 20 seconds i just died. If it was a glitch i should have fallen downstairs but i didn't.

Wait till you get warm clothes, overheating and dehydration will show right up. And wells do not work.

I know about the wells, kind of digging it for now.

My current setup   All clothing is worn except my military boots, they are still pristine even after that huge trek I did.jZMURU0.jpg

Could not for the life of me find a Mosin last night.

Usually I can find one with relative ease.

Went to Novo and in to the town hall/office place where I know I can usually find a Mosin. Made my way through each room, and each room was rammed full of loot.

Every room I went in had abut 6 weapons in it. One room had 3 double barrel shotguns sat on a coffee table. Found plenty of SKS, repeaters, pistols, Sporters etc etc, but not a single Mosin. I have everything I need though to gear up a Mosin, found 100 rounds of ammo for it, PU and LRS, Compensator, Bayonet, two cans of spray paint - the lot. But no Mosin...

Check the blue carts. I've found serveral mosins under them

Okay, so this whole Zombie far sight is getting a little ridiculous here:

I checked with the dayzdb map to get an estimate of from where that Zed coming for me saw me: Just about 620 meters. Really?

I was watching her start running from really far away and decided to wait a bit, hoping to see who she was running at, thinking it must have been another player. Nope, straight for me she came... wow.

I mean c'mon guys, this is not even funny anymore! I wasn't a fresh spawn so I just knocked her on the head a couple of times, but really, I hope they fix the Zeds in this respect soon.

So, just that I understand this correctly..

You could see the Zombie clearly and that it started moving / running towards you, but yet you say this is not supposed to be like that? Care to elaborate on that?

Never seen the "if you see it, it can see you"-rule of thumb being more appropriate.

Currently the Zombie-AI should theoretically only see what's in front of them. As far as I know and last info I have anyway.

I get where you're coming from, but it seems like zombies should be "degraded" in that sense versus live humans. Same for hearing. I would think zombies, being the sluggish undead beings that they are, would need more of a stimulus than just a vague dot of a person on the horizon in order to be attracted.

You appear to be in the new buildings at the Krasnostav Airstrip (NEAF).

I'm with you man. Well, I think both hydration and energy are working pretty well right now - the main issue with energy is there's food everywhere so it's never much of an actual worry. I think hydration is working great - for the first time in stable branch DayZ you actually have to drink water whereas previously you could stay hydrated solely from the water content contained within food.

I think the issues that people are having with hydration has some to do with expectation. If I'm geared head to toe and sprinting from town to town, chances are I'll be pretty damn hot and sweating up a storm - and that's exactly my experience in this build. Previously you could sprint from corner to corner without a worry and now for the first time there's repercussions for doing so.

And even with that, I'm generally able to sprint 4k in-game before losing my bright green hydration. Not jog, but sprint. I exercise quite regularly but there's no damn way I (or anyone) can sprint 4k in real life so I cannot see how having to drink more water is over the top. Reducing speed to a jog or taking off excess clothes is a more than reasonable solution to overheating.

No the issues with hydrations that we have are :

Wells do not work

You need ~3 litres of water to go from no icon (NOT from thirsty) to hydrated, that is not realistic whatsoever.

I think it should actually be the opposite. Now, I am just throwing around ideas here and it's purely my personal opinion, doesn't mean that I'm claiming that your perception is wrong. But let me explain.

If an infected in the lands of Chernarus serves no other purpose other than eating people's brains, than surely he's not quite up to speed with his brain anymore. This would mean that he's not really the smartest or even thinks anymore at all. The only thing that is left would be his instincts. These instincts dictate his behavior and thus he's out for a hunt. As soon as he sees movement (may that be a cow or a human, he doesn't care) he will run to see what's going on. If it's nothing, he will turn around again, but as he is approaching he can clearly make out that it's something he can eat, thus continues to engage.

You followed the same path of thought, though you may not realize - but this is exactly what has happened here and why it (in my personal opinion) shouldn't need much tweaking.

I have had no issue with the lack of wells and never really used them before anyway. I know everyone is affected by this in a different way based on their playstyle, but there are many other sources of water. I know it's a bug, but soon it won't be so easy to come by fresh water as bacteria/viruses/protozoa are introduced.

I do think that stomach capacity needs some tweaking (along with the system as a whole) but overall I find it to be fairly balanced. I'll have to check it out myself but I've never had to drink more than a canteen's worth (1L) to become at least dark green hydrated. Never once have I had to drink 3 canteens back to back or anything even close to that.

Edit: Also - this may be outdated as of the current build (perhaps someone can clarify), but here it says that the difference between the minimum bright green hydration (3500 mL) and the top of the no icon hydration (2500 mL) is 1000 mL. If you're at the bottom end of the no icon hydration (1800 mL) and want to be absolutely maxed out to full bright green hydration (4000 mL), you need to drink 2200 mL. So overall it takes anywhere from 1000 to 2200 mL to go from no icon to bright green.

Today happens something weard on our server. After join for 5 mints, our guns and guns dissapeard from our back, As there was non other player on atm it could end be a hacker.
Our gear was not on the ground nor near by it total dissapeard.

I wondering is there is something weird with the current loot system? We where thinking there is a max amount of loot possible on the server, when that hits, some stuff dissapear. I could be wrong but this is our current theory.

There was really no chance it should have seen me - I was on my way up through Solnichny. I was at the very top of that mine of quarry or whatever it is and the Zed was at the ocean. At the beach.

As I said, I saw it start running, and from that distance the only logical reason for me was that it must have seen a fresh spawn right at the beach or something.

After I killed her I checked on the dayzdb map to see how far away the Zed had been. The resulting number and the fact that I was in a pretty much invisible spot (for her) left me a bit dumbfounded.

Try it out. Go to the beach of Solnichny and have a friend on top of the mine and see if you can see him up there in a crouched position - I'd say the chances are zilch.

Edit: Turns out I had the 600 meters wrong, it was more like 300, sorry about that! Still, as far as raw positioning of the Zed vs. my position up on the hill goes, I think it would still be fair to say it shouldn't have happened.

Over all ,excelent patch

Thank you Dev's good job!

PU Scope on the SKS,awesome...

Steaks are back to being burned right away.I tried a few times to cook some but burned them ever time lol

The .45 Derringer is quite nice, found a clip for an MP 5 ...but still searching for the gun,Game play is smooth, large cities have Lag considerable reduced for me for the firets time.I can actualy venture into Electo etc. and look around.I have to Hydrate a lot when running,I over heat when running around which is good, although I have become Hyperthermic and can not seem to shake it and I can sit by a fire for hours in door, out door by a fire under a bridge you name it.....It says I am slowly warming up but I never do...

Still though,excellent job all around!

Hyperthermic means you are overheated whereas hypothermic means your under-heated.  In other words the fire was adding to the problem  :P

I can assure you it is not the case, everytime i use a sneaky approach from behind a zombie to hit him behind the head they magicly become aware of my presence and all of the sudden... 180 degrees turn to try to hit me (Even though i made almost no noise)

A good solution that they could MAYBE implement along with the other ways of fighting hyperthermia would be a simple one, pour that canteen/water bottle on yourself, any thoughts on that ?

Sure why not, as long as they fix wells so we can get water.
