Rational for Sway

What is the rational for the Sway mechanics? and can it be explained outside of gameplay in real life terms?

You've been running for 7 days straight with a rifle in your hands and no sleep?

 

Won't you faint in 3 days at those conditions?

Go for a jog, when you come back pick up a rifle, or something rifle like that's heavy and hold it up in an aiming position.  Hell my hands are unsteady just holding them up in front of me as if I had a weapon and I haven't gone for a jog.

How about running for 5 minutes, gun in hand or not.

 

I haven't shot many guns in real life but I would guess that an untrained person holding a gun out in front of him would not be able to keep the gun from swaying slightly.  Remember, when zoomed a lot of visual sway in the scope is not really that much in the hands.

 

I'm curious why you feel there should not be any sway - in game or in real life.

Of course exhaustion, wounds, breathing etc can throw your aim off, however, even in perfect condition there is sway. I am looking for an appealing rational\explanation for that mechanic. ( ETA for example the bullet trajectory is easy, I wrote a good summary about it, but as for swing, outside of listing what cause it I am coming a bit short)

btw are bullet trajectory affected by wind?

Uhm... I am curious when did I say that? People need to relax and assume good faith, it can save you a lot of charges at windmills.

use a splint and try again. as for your "appealing rational" business you have been given the reasons for it in the game and in real life and you are still looking for something else, that tells me you are just looking to be argumentative.

Thank you for your suggestion on how to fix it, however, I didn't asked about it or suggest that I have problem aiming. As for argumentative, I suggest that you read my previous edit. Fanboys who rage at thread topics are not constructive and create an hostile environment. Edited by Mor

no, windage has not yet been implemented.

In real life, you sway. I know I sure do. Let me tell you what they told my father: trust your wobble.

 

However, in real life, I won't hesitate to rest my gun on anything I can find, including a tree, or a doorframe. Really anything I can rest my hand on. My father does this neat trick with a sling I can't make heads or tails of where he wraps it all tight around his forearm.

Any idea if the base sway value is a constant, or is it tied into the weapon accuracy/dispersion (that is a mix of weapon spread and external effects, thus using a sniper rifle, resting on a Bipod will result in very low sway)

Of course the trick is actually finding a bipod to help reduce sway.  Haven't seen one since 0.48.  I think the odds of finding one are slightly worse than being in Cherno when a nuclear bomb goes off  B)

 

Also, you can apply a splint (presumably to your arm) to reduce sway.  They should make that feature a little more explicit I think.

You are breathing and you are generally unable to hold your weapon perfectly still - so by virtue of not being a bench any weapon held by you will move around slightly - something you can reduce but not completely eliminate by choosing a better stance, using tools like buttstock or bipod*, holding your breath and not being exhausted.

 

*This does not work in DayZ however because for some odd reason attachments change dispersion instead of having authentic effects (even scopes!).
