Have you guys decided if it will be grid-based or not grid-based? i hope it will not be grid-based tho :)

Well, it feels like Barnabus just said something he thought, feeld or believed.

 

Is there anyone that KNOWS anything? Because I guess that I am not the only one that wants to go out there to test fish- and rabbittraps...

There are a few of us that play Experimental pretty much all the time (when a build is available), and I assure you, we can be trusted to give you accurate conjectures about the maintenance cycle. We do this every week, and we've been doing it for months ;) Obviously we don't know everything, but we've been around the block a few times and can generally figure out what's up.

 

:) and I am so glad I have an early shift ending at 3 :) experimental here we come ! (Hopefully )

Curse you! I had an early shift yesterday and it was wasted on non-update-day haha.

 

According to todays status report, the first iterations of barricading and horticulture are ready to go. That is quite a big thing !

Yesssssssssssssss.

 

As long as we don't need too many items to work on those things - while it's good having some realism in DayZ, I still think that sometimes there are areas where the developers overestimate its importance (fishing and hunting, for example, or cooking) and others were they underestimate it way too much (interacting with stored items whitout stopping the character, no mid/long term consequences for injuries). Some actions are too much complex/require too much time and resources to be enjoyable, while other are too arcade-looking, risk to be dreadfully immersion breaking and are left on their own.

 

Barricading could be an interesting feature, but there are too few players on servers (50 or 70) to make the difference...and considering the infected does not damage the environment and they still glitch inside/outside buildings and doors? I fear it's not a priority at this time. Way better the horticulture thing: that's extremely interesting and I hope we can actually interact whit/scavenge all those gardens around farms and houses - not only plant and harvest stuff.

I don't think the importance of hunting and fishing was overestimated (nor underestimated). In this particular scenario, hunting/fishing would probably be the steadiest supply of food. I agree that barricading doesn't serve much of a point yet, but we need to get started testing it now so it can be ready for primetime down the road.

Guys are trying to aproach the game from immersion with realism standpoint. So you take something here, and add something there. But to be exact, even for injuries there is like 2-3 hours discussion ongoing just today. Everything will just take time. If something does not feel right. There is pretty high chance it is just first iteration and it will get changed down the road.

Looks like it's time (imminently) to claim my spot and settle down with my tomato farm. I'm a little surprised we're getting tomatoes first and not potatoes, if only because vodka comes from the latter... :)

exactly!

Players should be patient with the game and especially with the devs.

And the devs should be patient with their decisions and implementations.

Most parts of the game are placeholders or work in progress so - be patient ;)

This happens Every. Single. Wednesday. It's extremely predictable and there is always warning beforehand via Twitter, Reddit, and the DevTracker on this forum. There's really no reason you need to ask when the information is readily available in numerous locations.

Hi people. I am at North of Europa. It seems to be no servers to connect at the moment. Is it me only or do others have the same? (of course we are talking about experimental)

 

Any info of when they reappear?

Client crash still in there (new experimental). Server crashes should be a lot less common. Working on it.

YES. This is what I wanted to hear. At least if the crashes are still occurring, they should be infrequent enough that we don't end up with two working servers overnight :p

Yay for horticulture !! ,,  find a good spot to grow some coffee and a lil field for some tobacco , i always said there would be alot less KOS in this game if folks could just sit down and have a cup of coffee and a cigarette to relax :D

True. Honestly, I haven't had a single crash-to-desktop problem in quite a while. Maybe even as far back as 0.46 or 0.47, whatever the last major version was to have that issue. I seem to be lucky like that. Now I've jinxed myself, I'm sure of it.

Well, it sounds like we're starting with just tomatoes... which aren't actually all that useful (fewest number of calories per serving of any edible item in the game). It will be fun to play around with growing things though! :)

Good morning everybunny! Goodness, barely awake after my morning coffee and we gets uppy-dates! Crap, now I have to figure out where a nice place for a farm could be (maybe just a couple of plants), and it looks like they are getting closer to barricading implementation.

Holy Wombat on ice, I need to wake up - and fast!

 

Oh.. and get to work... crap > :(

 

Please show me pictures of the horticulture stuff as soon as available, I'll be lurking although not playing much.
