How would you get out of this situation?

Kinda screwed myself here. I was traveling around and a zombie came. I started to use my pick ax to take it down and 2 more zombies appeared. I ran for the ladder, and 2 more zombies showed up. I only have 3 bullets. There's 5 zombies. How would you get out of this situation alive without relogging?

This same situation happened to me just a few days ago.  I climbed down the ladder and magically was not hit by any of them.  Fortunately I had a firefighter's axe and was able to take the horde down quickly after that.

Climb to the bottom and 9/10 you will be able to get a distance between them and you (even just a few feet).

 

Then proceed to circle and swing - some of them might hit each other making your job a little easier.

1. Get to the bottom.

Get hit by a few strikes.

Start bleeding.

Rage about ruined gear.

Get some distance.

Draw pickaxe.

Craft berserk mode from pickaxe and rage.

Kill all the zombies.

Bandage self.

Then kill them all. As someone said. 9/10 you can out run them. just dont stop whille climbing down.

just learn how to run in a tight circle... You can do this for days and they will never hit you.  Only time I have gotten hit is the crawler/jumpers, they seem to flip out and auto-jump in a circle too sometimes resulting in a hit.
