M1 Garand

  1. 1. M1 Garand should be...

    • not in the game.
    • in the game, spawning as much as mosin, sks and such...
    • a rare unicorn.

All those would be great but the De Lisle in particular would be fantastic due to its gameplay additions.

An internally suppressed bolt action carbine in .45 ACP talk about unique. It would fit a similar role that the VSS would fit.

I would imagine its pretty rare so the likelihood of finding it anywhere in the world to be slim.

hahaa wow that weapon is an abomination !

Indeed gents, indeed... I really do like the idea of obscure weapons like the RAK for example, it almost looks like a half made UZI.. looking forward to seeing more weird weapons !

How about that cattle prod tho ^_^

Original DeLisle carbine is hens teeth to find considering how few were made, I mean 120 or so originally made rare. So, considering that and the fact that there has not been an original De Lisle on the open market (by which I mean auction) in a couple of decades and even then the price was....not cheap, I would really highly doubt that we would suddenly stumble across one in the middle of Eastern Europe.

There is however a couple of small companies that make 'De Lisle' type replicas (not exact copies) in small quantities, which start at around $2300

The RAK isn't really obscure, it was fairly common during the Cold War.

Wouldn't be too much different than stumbling across an AWC Amphibia S, Blaze 95, Colt Python, FNX-45, or AK-101 in Eastern Europe, i.e., there would be next to none of them anywhere.

Would be very different - all those weapons are produced in much higher numbers to begin with. Then they might not even that rare at all - you just wouldn't expect them. The De Lisle on the other side...

That being said the weapon seems pretty nice design-wise and would probably be a good addition in terms of gameplay. It would just require some justification inside the setting. Now the game is still in development and the setting might change as well. Should be extremely rare though as its most likely part of some enthusiasts collection (maybe gun collecting was national sport in Chernarus?)

I would go with that but since you say enthusiast...

What about there being a random chance for a dead body to spawn with it? Like one per map in no set location, in a bed, up against a tree, in a freaking river etc etc.

The game needs more gore anyway things like that would be awesome and it explains away the "Why the fuck is this extremely rare weapon in a café" issue.

Everyone would want it but have a very minimal chance of finding it.

I think that would be great, add in some more dead people who died in fighting but leave shit things like broken guns/knives or not very good ones to even it out.

The only issue is that this would only be suitable for maybe 2 very rare guns else they become relatively common drops.

How so? By the very simple fact that there were only 120 or so made means you have statistically a much greater chance of finding weapons that have been made in their thousands, so a really I fail to see the comparison.

Just remember that Chernarus is a fictional country in a fictional universe, we don't know for sure that the Earth in that timeline had the same history. So, for all we know, tens of thousands of M1s could have been sent to Russia instead of just the one.

Yeah, when I first heard the M1 Garand was going to be coming into the game I was rather "Eh", as it just doesn't fit in with the setting. But personally, I'd like it if it was a VERY rare weapon which may not necessarily be that good but the shear novelty of carrying a very rare gun and well it just being an M1 Garand, would be great. So, in my opinion as long as it's very rare it makes moderate sense and I'm happy for it to be added in.

If we're going with that ethos, we can have katanas, dual-wield AS50s and 48" purple rubber cocks as melee weapons.

Hello there

I too was a strict "lets keep it Eastern Bloc" advocate, but thats clearly not going to happen.

Now, Im not fussed what weapons are in as long as they work something like their reallife counterparts and are well implemented.

What I would like is to see weapons that "feel" less cannon (regardless of real world fact) to be rarer.

Now "feel" is subjective, so in a nutshell any non Eastern Bloc weapons should just be that little bit rarer IMHO as Id personally like to keep the feel of being in Arma 2's Cherno.

As to the 48 inch rubber dildos, well perhaps not. (not in public anyway). I think the devs have their own vision for the game and whilst we all might not agree 100pc with all their directions im fairly sure they wont go mental on us and include utterly outlandish weaponry.

I think theres method in their madness.

I wish I shared your belief in the Dev Team to build a worthy successor to the Mod.

Hello there

Oh, I think they will.

It may not be exactly what you or I may have envisaged but I do still have faith.

Im sure many folk feel "burned out" by the early access which is why I keep my actual playtime to a bare minimum. Whenever I do play it always feels like a quantum leap in progress.

In the scheme of things, yeah the Garand may not suit us personally, but its hardly as if they have added mechs, so as long as the gameplay is groovy then ill be happy.

Remember, with modding, i guarantee there will be mods to suit your taste, especially as you are obviously not the only one who doesnt "feel" that US weapons apply.

The M1 Grand could work fine as another high tier civilian weapon.

Higher tier civilian weapons should be modern hunting rifles with scope compatibility (they need to add a hunting scope with fixed magnification) not some ancient rifle, that is about the same as SKS but with bigger bullets.

inb4 M109 confirmed.

I don't mind there being an M1 Garand in game, but I hope it forms part of a group of western weapons that players could expect to find once every 100 hours of play, weapons that really do give your survival value.

I love that they're adding this but I hope that it will be a really really bad idea to fire it in or near a town later on.

That's not what I mean. I mean that the Chernarus timeline Earth might have similar history, but maybe slight changes such as my example in the post above. Don't just say something stupid because you don't get what I mean.

Oh, I get exactly what you mean.

You want a weapon that makes no sense in a 21st Century post-Soviet country and you're playing the "fictional universe" card to justify it.

I could care less if the guns fit into the lore, guns are cool to have.

Exactly... there is a few things that don't require uber realistic rules. One of these things is guns... keep the variety there folks.. as long as there is all the other AK variants and such for being in eastern europe why the hell not

"To hell with realism in firearms" says the Developers on the count of three.

I seriously cannot wait until mod support is added. So many mods are going to contain weapon replacements and maybe even caliber replacements

I, for one, give a damn about realism, but it is not worth arguing this philosophy anymore due to the developers already making up their mind and they have support from most of the community.

Why not the Semi-Automatic Rifles developed in the closer country of Germany during World War Two

Where the hell is the Soviet SVT-40?

If the M1 Garand is implemented it will be the gateway to firearms in the U.S. appearing in Chernarus

That's my thinking of course.
