nillie 30 Posted February 17, 2015 (edited) Got held up by some cheating bandits on a random high pop private server, who spotted me as i was filming them doing all sorts of weird glitching. My char was half an hour old and i had only basic stuff. I heard some gunshots and ran into that direction as i spotted one glitching through a field. At first i figured it was lag or desync or something but then they spotted me : They magically caught up to me in a matter of seconds as i was sprinting away, even tho there where over 500 meters of fields, trees and houses between us, then they shot me up good and held me at gunpoint. I should of just attacked them and got it over with, but i played along with them in the hopes of getting some more cheating caught on camera, or for some other people to enter the area. Naturally they ended up killing me anyway. It keeps cracking me up getting held up by 12 year olds. Imagine if this would happen in real life tho ! Didnt even bother to try and get revenge... most of these high pop private servers are turning out to be cheater fests, just like high pop public.Too many cheaters around atm, i think i will take a little break from playing unless for some nice trades. Belphegor (DayZ) 25 Posted February 17, 2015 ENO, i might have a fix for your direct chat problem, if you haven't tried it already.. first, open windows audio device manager and check if your headset is selected in the 'recording' tab, if no devices show up right click ther blank space and select 'show disabled devices' or something like that. even if your headset is enabled, make sure it's set as the standard recording device. for text chat, verify the steam files (right click dayz in steam menu > local files > verify) this fixed my text chat when i first got the game, i hope it works for you.
hekp 223 Posted February 17, 2015 (edited) I played public for the first time since the wipe... I just found a mosin and some rounds when I caught a gillie guy near berezino parking dump who wouldnt talk, type, nor "F2".I caught him overlooking berezino and the bere-nižhoe road, but I didnt want to assume he's there for banditry. He tried to make a run for it..if only he didnt run in the pub. Too bad. It was a fair cqc mosin vs mosin fight tho.Than i tried to find a leather sewing kit which seemed to be mission impossible. I found a v3s and two mp5 magazines by the time server restarted. Second guy... oh my... I reconected on a roof to make a shot with Clouds ON (cant believe i forgot that...);http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/156341-lets-post-some-screen-shots-standalone/?p=2207538 Obviously this is a very bad boy roof as we all know and as soon as i connected, i heard a sound of someone climbing up the ladder. Eek, here it goes. To make things worse it was daytime. If i get caught with a mosin up here..Anyway,Im on top of the roof, inside the elevator shaft waiting forever for this guy to decide to come up. I figured he must've heard me and is not comming up. I was pretty sure he will try to enter the building thats north from my position to get a shot on me.I try to get a visual but no luck.I go back in the shaft. I take my time and wait. in about 5 minutes i hear the ladder sound again. I look down the shaft but noone is there. Than my stupid brain realised what's going on. There's a guy ABOVE me. Someone actualy climbed the ladder and lied on top of elevator shaft or reconected there. Somehow he was blind not to see me.Seriously nervous now, i came out of the shaft as i see a guy with a wrapped AK, gorka, high capacity and what not. I unleash my magnum. No way we could talk this out. I lie down next to him. For some reason i cannot finnish him; my gun couldnt aim that low. I reload and start checking his gear. In the middle of it he wakes up and pulls out an AK. I spray him with magnum again, this time for good. His dead body falls down the ground, i still receive a few desynced ak rounds second later. I Royaly fucked it up as he had handcuffs & saline and this was the first guy i didnt kill in 3rd magnum shot. If he was there for the killing id leave him handcuffed and lighten up the roof with fire. Had to share it 'cause i think the story goes great with the photo i took :D Ended up in blood bath. eno 1049 Posted February 17, 2015 Thanks Belph- I should have that problem solved tonight when I get home since I ordered a new headset. In the video above I am on TS3 on my ipad with Schwabam... my in-game sounds are run through a speaker on the laptop since they still work fine. At that time schwab was using different bindings between direct chat and TS3 while I was using voice activated- which is why I couldn't hear him talking in game when he was direct chatting. Unfortunately I can't hear the other people chatting either because of this- Funny to watch since he just goes back and forth with the fresh about water and gives him a bottle- then I come back over and tell schwab I have water if he needs it. "Did you give him a bottle?" Uh- duh... lol. I have heard of that fix before but I forgot about making sure disabled devices were activated... I don't think the mic is disabled though- I think it's been damaged and isn't even showing up. (Accidentally clipped a wire while I was opening it up to replace the original HDD). This hampered me last night too while I was running Solo around Nizhnoye... I was moving around pretty openly but really keeping a careful eye open since it does help to get first contact (when you need to type and try to explain that you can't hear or see the responses lol). I ended up going into one of the red brick buildings that has a tavern / pub on one side and living space on the other. Usually some decent stuff in those... I was checking behind the bar looking at the floor and broke my situational awareness for a few seconds... and wouldn't you know it- Someone came running at me between the tables and the bar... all I saw was blood and someone running at me. Of course I squeezed off a shot from arms reach but I was pinned in the corner- I couldn't back off. I started looking for places to shoot him in full auto since the first round either missed or only made his condition worse as he stood there bleeding all over the place. Time to go cyclic. He backed off and gave me some room... and then just stood there and looked at me. I took my finger off the trigger, repositioned and then stood there looking right back at him. I shouldered my weapon and dropped some rags for him to use but I don't think he saw that. I pointed at them on the ground and he promptly assumed a prone position- total misunderstanding happening... so I just grabbed one of the bandages I still had and bandaged him up with it. He stood up and ran off. I went another direction but then on doubling back I saw him off in the distance being chased by a zombie... so I headed over there as fast as I could to try and help him out. I was able to catch the zed and take it out but I'd lost him until a few minutes later when I spotted him coming back up the road towards me. I waved at him and he gave me a little q-e hello. I put some food down for him (pumpkin) and he quickly stuck his face in that. I told him through direct text I couldn't hear or see any direct chat from him... but I was there to help and knew where a well was- pointing in that direction. It looked like he was going to follow but by the time I got halfway through the orchard I lost him again. Server crashed a couple minutes later. That server crashes more than any other I've ever been on- not sure what's up but it's very frustrating since it's not monitored by admins at all from what I can tell. eno 1049 Posted February 17, 2015 Did a LOAD of cooking tests today, using every combination of heat source and cooking utensil. Question for you- I used to be able to prepare fish with the improvised knife but now it doesn't seem to be working. Do we now need a proper knife to do so or have you not seen any change? Perhaps it's an intermittent bug or the actual requirement for a knife changed... Thanks.
krazypenguin 174 Posted February 17, 2015 (edited) What do you carry on you? I always try to carry as much as possible. What gear do you run around with that'll let you pack so light? Not sure who you are directing this at, but I'll answer for myself. I used to be a hoarder. I think this is natural for many people, since you start with nothing, resources on the coast can be scarce and even later on some items are seen only very rarely, especially on persistance enabled servers which seem to suffer from odd loot distributions. Basically, it's human nature to hoard supplies anyway and the game encourages grabbing whatever loot you can find even if you don't need it. Add to this, I personally lacked the knowledge of how to hunt, how to cook meat and I never maintained a stash - meaning I had no confidence in my ability and nowhere to fall back onto. Therefore, I had to carry as much as I could all the time as I roved across the map. In the last 2 weeks I spent time learning where to hunt, how to cook and natural water is (currently) safe to drink, so food and drink aren't an issue for me anymore. But the main thing that lets me travel light is the stash I keep. My stash is in the woods near 4 towns which are off the coast and away from the main loot runs and military locations, The stash is my key to travelling light. Ideally, I find rope and burlap sacks to make improvised courier bags and hide them in long grass or the edge of trees (tip - stay away from the trunk - trying to put a bag too close to the trunk causes it to appear 3 feet off the ground and become inaccessable). I put anything that I need to hang on to but not actively carry into these bags. I keep my actual backpack virtually empty. Then I raid a town at speed, even ones a long way away, taking anything rare (like pistol mags) or useful (rope, matches if I don't have any), but leaving most of the basic stuff, like cans and sodas, that a new survivor might need. I try not to take essential survival items that I don't desperately need myself. I avoid PvP so I don't buy into the whole "I need 4 guns, 8 mags and 200 rounds of ammo" ethos that some people seem to have. I like to carry a rifle (SKS is preferable but ammo is rare outside military zones so typically I go for a Repeater with its built in 11 round mag and easily found ammo) and a sawn off shotgun (fits in my backpack, is great for killing infected and if you can find a snap loader, it effectively has a 4 round capability). I carry 1 or 2 stacks of ammo for each gun I have, purely for redundancy in case 1 stack gets ruined. For a melee weapon I like a splitting axe or fireaxe and I carry an improvised stone knife for any cutting work, including opening cans. I carry 2 stacks of rags (again, in case one of them gets ruined), 4-6 items of food (usually steaks) and a canteen. For clothes I prefer to avoid the hardcore military stuff as it tends to look very threatening and I don't like most of the locations where it can spawn. Instead, I go for a raincoat (because getting wet is a pain), a 6 slot pair of trousers (I prefer both of these in green to make me harder to spot but at the same time, a brighter colour can be less threatening to other players), some sort of assault vest or leather vest for extra storage and any backpack, though i have a thing for natural bags and smaller bags like the taloon. Obviously, the hunting backpack is my preferred choice, though I am starting to become attached to the SPOSN for some reason and when they sort out the rain\damp thing, it being waterproof will actually matter. Once I have raided a town I return to my stash where I store the loot and resupply on food and drink. Then I am ready for the next run. Depending on my destination these runs can last several hours or longer so when i leave I'll make sure I am carrying enough food to stay energised all the way there, but I'll use natural water sources for hydration - I only carry a single canteen for emergency use. I also always jog, not sprint, even over long distances, as this conserves energy and hydration levels. When I go on a raid I only need to carry a very small amount of equipment because I can leave most of the stuff in my stash. The biggest problem is making sure that I am back at the stash in time to sort through everything I have and choose what I want to keep and what I am happy to lose prior to the server maintenance every Wednesday. The Aquatic Land Walrus 565 Posted February 17, 2015 Interesting. A lot of the time, I'll run around the coast picking up spare cans of food and giving them to newspawns. I always wear black and light blue if possible, and I carry a magnum for emergencies.Once I head inland, I turn into a hoarder ;_;
eno 1049 Posted February 17, 2015 I'm a bit of a stasher too... either fabbing up bags from sacs or even the small children's cases are good for a few items here and there. I'll distribute them around my operating area- never putting too much in one place so if someone stumbles into one I don't end up regretting it.
krazypenguin 174 Posted February 18, 2015 (edited) Question for you- I used to be able to prepare fish with the improvised knife but now it doesn't seem to be working. Do we now need a proper knife to do so or have you not seen any change? Perhaps it's an intermittent bug or the actual requirement for a knife changed... Thanks. I lost my kitchen knife and haven't found a replacement yet. But I tested preparing Carp (the ones you catch with a rod, not in the fish trap) with both a steak knife and the improvised stone knife and both worked correctly. The steak knife was damaged so only gave 49% and 40% fillets, whereas the pristine improvised stone knife yielded 95% and 90% fillets. However, this proved to be a moot test for me as I then discovered that I couldn't get them to cook at all... Edit - just to clarify, I tried ALL forms of cooking - cooking pot on a tripod, cooking pot in a stone oven, same with a frying pan and also both with gas burner. Looks like cooking fish might be bugged in 0.53. Edited February 18, 2015 by krazypenguin
eno 1049 Posted February 18, 2015 Eh Krazy- never caught anything with a rod... I generally use the fish trap for my purposes on the coast. I don't have a chance to play until tomorrow but when I do I'll continue testing on the sardines.
Killawife 599 Posted February 19, 2015 I had a horrible day. I respawn in Novo as I died the day before. I get some decent loot including a shotty and head for the Rify wreck, I go up and when i get on top my toon falls through the floor and dies. I'm annoyed but decide to respawn. I respawn in Cherno and run around there for a while. I see zero people even though the server is full. I go to Balota airfield and go to the ATC. As I go upstairs my legs start breaking, I run downstairs but dies. Seriously wtf?

Being a freshie these days can be seriously tough for the first half hour or so - even without the falling-through-the-floor bug. I had a pretty good day yesterday. Returned favours to a couple of folks by giving them fairly high value crash site loot. Then found a lootgasm at a blue caravan and picked up a pristine fire axe (had been running with a splitter). I don't see lootgasms very often these days, not least because I mainly run on persistence off servers (I'm a crash hunter). Thinking of changing this increasingly dreary playstyle and going exploring a bit more.
sachad 1016 Posted February 19, 2015 Got killed in Shakhovka, of all places... Could not get into experimental, and all my usual private hives were offline or almost empty, so I tried a new one. Spawned in Kamyshovo, but it was absolutely devoid of food and weapons, I left for Msta with only a hatchet and a battered raincoat. In Msta things picked up, I found more clothes, an axe, a drybag and enough food to last me a week, as well as a repeater and a box of buckshot. Then I went to Staroye, found a Magnum, an Izh and two boxes of .357, so I was properly armed. I decided to try Shakhovka since it has two possible truck spawns. Got there, no trucks, so I began looting. Found some more usefull stuff. Then, after confirming I was alone, I went to eat and drink. At least, I thought I was alone... Let this be a lesson never to stand still in the open, no matter how safe you think you are... Halfway through a can of peaces, I spot movement some 100 yards away between houses. I'm thinking maybe it was a zombie that had followed me from Staroye since there had been quite a few of them there... So I calmly finish my peaches, and reach for the axe to cleave its skull. My second mistake. I see the 'zombie' again. It is strafing. Zombies do not strafe. I am in mortal danger. He stops and takes a long, thin rifle off his back. I make my third and final mistake, as instead of just rushing to cover, I try to grab the loaded shotgun at my feet. I am not fast enough. Before I can even raise the thing, I can hear the bullet impacting my skull. And everything goes black. And as I lay there dead, he approaches me. "I have been following you since Kamyshovo, friend... you need to mind your surroundings." I will, sir. I most definitely will.
BCBasher 2465 Posted February 19, 2015 I've been doing allot of truck hunting and driving the coast looking for bambis to taxi somewhere helpful as kind of a personal mission/experiment. Today was the day found a little town with a well, and everything for basic survival and even a mosin and bullets. Loaded with 4 pumpkins in my drybag and one in my belly I set out inland. Next town had a bright blue VS3 and this was supposed to be a friendly server would be worth a try running a taxi. First fare, Black jeans and T, east of Electro got out at the police station thanked me and scurried off to scavenge. Second (almost) fare In his underwear runs in front of and under the truck at 80kmh, sorry. Third fare and without stereotyping... Gets in between electro and chermo says he doesn't care where so I take him to balota airfield because I want to find a chest holster and bullets for my magnum. He runs off looting so I think my nicely parked (backed in) truck is safe for 30 seconds... Nope carjacked, ran over, looted and laughed at in comms. Fool me once... Christoffer.s 13 Posted February 19, 2015 (edited) So i kept me first guy alive for 15 hours real time game time now and so far i had 3 player interactions, the first guy stumbled upon me when i was looking thru a barn and he instantly yelled friendly and before i could respond he ran full speed out of there over the field :| . Today i met 2 more peeps one up north by rify, looked like a fresh spawn and he told me to kill him so he could respawn in another area? I kindly refused seeing that there were 3 zombies closing onto him anyway so i guess he got what he wanted and i also got a distraction for the zombies. Then i finally met up with two friends in Novodmitrovsk and there we found player nr three that yet again told me to shoot him "wtf" then he started punching my friend so we took him out, 2 min later the same guy came and started the same routine yet again and we took him out "yet again" then ran from the city and logged off. Now to the question, why have two outta three players asked me to kill them so far? I saw in the history after we logged off that we were on a "friendly" server so ive been thinking that maybe they are just trolls trying to bait for a ban? I have no idea what they were up to otherwise Edited February 19, 2015 by Christoffer.s
nexventor 429 Posted February 20, 2015 So last night 7 of us decided to do a little spur of the moment "Survival Gamez" situation with our Public characters. We used izurvive map to set up a zone of play and split into 3 groups of two. The odd man out was the target that we had to assassinate. We played on a low pop server (there were 3 or 4 other players) as to not get innocents involved. We were all in position and divided the TS into 4 channels and each team was wearing a different coloured arm band, my team wore pink while the other two teams wore blue and yellow, so we could tell if any outsiders got mixed up in the fire fight. We set off coming from the south western lumber yard and immediately hear gun shots coming from the military compound area, about 300-400 meter from us. First Mosin and then AK. We think holy shit that was stupidly quick. What we didn't realise at the time was that another 2 random players both wearing blue armbands came across one of our teams... WHO WERE ALSO WEARING BLUE ARMBANDS. They freaked out for a bit not knowing who was who but in the end managed to neutralise the randoms whom fired upon them first. We start moving in from a westerly direction and more gun shots ring out. At this stage we have no idea who is alive and who is dead but we keep pushing forward. The only way through to the main street is an arch way. Squad leader (with sks and PU) pokes out to look south down the road as I guard the rear, I turn to look at him and he then scouts north before quickly turning back to the south. Just at the moment I see movement across the street, one player has just exited from a building not more than 20 mtrs from us. I yell out "player" but unable to fire as the SL is directly in the line of fire. I yell "player" a second time and SL pulls back into the archway. I have the choice to fight or flee however I would rather die in a flame of glory than die cowardly from a bullet to my back. I steady my aim and prepare for the oncoming attack which happens just as quickly as expected. He doesn't peak, he comes at me at full force and I unload... As he runs across my sight from left to right, I dump five rounds into him and then I pause. He fires a flurry at me and hitting every shot precisely on target. I try to move into a better position unfortunately I am left with only one option now and I dump the rest of my mag into him. His body curls over and he drops like a sack of potato's but I did not fare much better. I fall unconscious then death swiftly follows. My SL confirms my kill of yellow1 but yellow2 is still at large. Again and aggressively yellow2 engages, they trade just like their team mates had done only moments earlier. My team mate breaks both the legs of y2, ruins his gear and even makes him fall unconscious but at alas the wounds from the exchange were too great and my team mate joins me in the long sleep, not more than 5 metres away from my now lifeless body. Yellow2 ends up taking his team to victory after killing blue1 and the assassination target. Blue2 was unable to play on due to connection issues. All in all, this last about 15 minutes and was damn fun! Even though we came third, it was brilliant and I highly recommend anyone else that has a big group try something similar too this. It literally took us about 3 minutes to plan and the most time consuming part was just getting to the destination. We just fought with whatever equipment we had the time. I think we will make this a weekly thing but in the future I would change the location to somewhere with better frames as we were all suffering significantly. krazypenguin 174 Posted February 20, 2015 (edited) Eh Krazy- never caught anything with a rod... I generally use the fish trap for my purposes on the coast. I don't have a chance to play until tomorrow but when I do I'll continue testing on the sardines. You need to tell me how to fish for sardines please! I found 3 water bottles and made fish traps. I put them all in the sea, one empty, the second with one worm in it and the third with 5 worms in it. I checked them every 5 minutes for 20 minutes - nothing. What am I doing wrong?!? Gave up, ran up to Svetlojarsk where I killed about 2 dozen infected with a Mosin and a shotgun. In a game where I am terrified of attracting the attention of other players and very rarely ever fire the guns I find, there's something incredibly theraputic about standing in the middle of a medium sized town gunning down infected like there's no tomorrow, without a care in the world. The Mosin in particular seems to be so loud that it attracts every infected within 5 miles. Anyway, my insanity was rewarded by not meeting another player (who knows, maybe I scared someone away?!) so I eventually got bored and left. Then I used my knowledge of Chernarus to navigate the entire run back to my base without needing a map and was very pleased with myself to cover such a long distance without getting lost once. When I got to my base I found that ALL of my stash was missing. For a second I thought that maybe it had been discovered and taken but then I realised that wasn't the case. My stash is made up of a lot of bags scattered over a wide area and they were all missing which seemed unlikely plus, more tellingly, both of my fireplaces were gone. Those cannot (to the best of my knowledge) be moved once created, so I think the server must have lost them or something. Anyway, hopefully everything will come back next time it resets but if not it's no big deal :-) Edited February 20, 2015 by krazypenguin
Lunatic_fringe420 3 Posted February 20, 2015 I'm very new to DayZ, only played 4 hours or so... Take this into consideration. My day started crazy, my first fresh spawn of the day put me in a field. Upon looking around, before I move, I hear a zombie groaning. I quickly run for the nearest tree, and upon reaching it I turn and use it as a bit of cover. Two zombies just a dozen or so steps away!!! I try to run again , but they catch up quickly. I turn an throw fists while trying to evade.... Black screen and I'm dead- first straight up death for me, usually I got ko'd.I figure the next spawn will be better. (Don't we all hope) I spawn in a small town and proceed to loot it, finding a bit if this and that. At the end of town I see a few boats crashed on the shore, I fugure they're good for loot so I make my way around this house and spot another player, blue rain jacket guy I'll call him. Blue jacket guy is out by the boat wreckage, I crouch as soon as I see him, but he spots me and RUNS! I assume he's going to next hour over which has a second floor, he's going to snipe me right? I run around the house I'm close to, go probe and slowly make my way into house. I hear a gunshot and roll to the wall, hugging it while probe. My mind is racing- blue jacket just missed me barely is my main thought. I lay prone for several minutes just listening, not hearing any sound of movements. My courage slowly rises and I decide to slowly love my way toward the boat wreckage. I crawl out to the wreckage, taking several minutes doing so. I crouch at wreckage and expect death via bullet, but it doesn't happen. I search wreckage, which was mostly different fisherman hats(not sure of real name) I assume the best loot was taken by blue jacket before he ran. Now it's been a little while since I've seen blue jacket so curiosity got the best of me and I decide to explore the house that I assume blue jacket has fled. The back door doesn't worl, so I venture around the side of the house, I spot blue jacket... Dead in the road. I immediately scan for zombies but don't see any. i think "there is a third player around here, and he is a good shot... If he wanted me dead Id be dead by now. I decide to loot blue jacket, taking his jacket because its prestine condition as opposed to my orange one that's damaged. Blue jacket has a mainly just a flare gun. He was scared I'd kill him so he ran to his death... Should've took his chances with me, I'm friendly and I only had a worn wrench at that time. I take one more lkng look around before heading down a small road, I see nothing so o move forward. I slowly come across a few more houses and find a water pump, I drink a lot of water and move on. Loot, switch gear, loot more stuff. I come to a barn and accidentally about a third way up the stairs... My feet hurt, my leg hurts... I see my shoes are now ruined, must've happened from the fall, but hey at least they aren't both broke right? I love onto a open warehouse structure. In there i find several different types of ammo. By this time i need to leave (in real life- work calls) so I log out for the day. Now tomorrow after I get my errands done I'm hoping to find a gun to use that ammo with, and most definitely a few sticks to spling what I believe is a broken leg... And shoes gotta find some! Belphegor (DayZ) 25 Posted February 20, 2015 my first run on 0.53, the first character died quickly of hypothermia and starvation after i foolishly decided to check out prison island without gearing up first. after respawning the plan was to gear up, get well fed and try again so i stuck to the coast and headed to elektro. when i was looting some houses in kamy i ran into a freshie drinking from the well.. there was no real conversation since he spoke german and i don't but he seemed friendly so i moved on, only a few houses further i found an axe and i went back to the well to give the axe to the guy since i already had one, but before i got there i see him running across the street with a fountain of blood shooting from his body and 3 other players chasing him with melee weapons. (seriously i don't get it, what's the point of grouping up and bashing a bambi to death with lead pipes..) i shot a few warning shots at them with a flare gun i found earlier but they didn't even seem to notice.. so i rushed in with the axe and started swinging. i didn't get to kill any of them but i managed to create some distance between us, enough for me to bandage the german guy while the group watched from 50m down the street. there were 3 of them and could have easily killed us, yet they just stood there.. i guess none of them wanted to risk dieing now that our side had melee weapons too.. cowards.. the german guy and i went our own way after that, and i continued towards elektro, once i got there it wasn't long until i heard gunfire not far from my position. i hid and watched some guys running between the buildings and occasionally open fire on something.. not sure if zombies or an other player. after getting away from there i found a mosin,LRS and a compensator and i decided to push onwards to cherno, hoping to find some rounds for that mosin. eventually i got some at the construction site. next time, prison island :)
Mookie (original) 799 Posted February 20, 2015 Now to the question, why have two outta three players asked me to kill them so far? I saw in the history after we logged off that we were on a "friendly" server so ive been thinking that maybe they are just trolls trying to bait for a ban? I have no idea what they were up to otherwise They're probably trying to get a more advantageous spawn point. Rightly or wrongly, many see the more northeastern spawns as bad ones because they're further from the big military locations.
sachad 1016 Posted February 20, 2015 They're probably trying to get a more advantageous spawn point. Rightly or wrongly, many see the more northeastern spawns as bad ones because they're further from the big military locations. On the few occasions I still visit a base or airfield, I make sure I'm well geared beforehand. Main rifle (typically Mosin or Repeater), sidearm (usually a Magnum), maybe a sawn-off too. I never get tired of people complaining they get shot at bases when they 'clearly aren't a threat' because they have no gear.
hekp 223 Posted February 20, 2015 (edited) Now to the question, why have two outta three players asked me to kill them so far? I saw in the history after we logged off that we were on a "friendly" server so ive been thinking that maybe they are just trolls trying to bait for a ban? I have no idea what they were up to otherwiseI Often ask people to kill me. Only time I i ask for the "better spawn point" is when i get killed by some dickhead & must, absolutely, hunt that bitch down. The rest is pure boredom when i want to reroll but dont feel like pvping/KOSing untill someone puts me down.I already placed myself on svetlo square firing up in the air untill the first dude showed up & blew my head off. Sometimes i don't "feel" the area im in. Thats usualy the main reason. Im sure you can all relate to it. Sometimes i feel like being in svetlo. Sometimes i would prefer roaming around berezino.Sometimes i just wanna get a spawn near skalisty so i can have my peacefull farm there. If i get a cherno spawn that i was playing intensively for the past 4 days, i will ask you to kill me (ok i wouldnt cause dying in cherno is EZ). I dont really do it often because i have 10+ private characters on all different parts of the map for that reason only, but sometimes you just respawn in that "not again" Area. I usualy like kambiwobo spawn. I run up to msta and staroye and im all happy shooting my arrows. If, for some reason i get the same spawn some 2-3 times in a row, it gets slightly repeating and boring so..mind using that sledgehammer, pls? I think majority does it for the same reasons. Most people who asked me to kill them were either after for a vengeance or playing with friends who they wanted to meet up.Whoever asks you to kill him to get a few inches closer to the next mil. area.. well im pretty certain he cant be much of a good player if he needs to do that. I make sure I'm well geared beforehand. Main rifle (typically Mosin or Repeater), sidearm (usually a Magnum)This is pretty much my end gear. I have no desire to be an assault rifle pinata unless i stumble uppon one myself. "I have been following you since Kamyshovo, friend... you need to mind your surroundings." Awesome story :D I was stalking a guy from topliniki(?) to NWEAF. I stalked him for so long i could tell whats his ingame name since there was only tons of [clan]folks.I didnt shoot him tho, just scared him a bit, talking from a bush, calling out his name "hello jack" . He pulled out his rifle, panicking and i was like "Dont do that jack" as in you gonna die ... and he put it back into his inventory and just ran off :D I had to go my own way as i was dying of dehydration. It happend at the prison, so he might thought i just used the wall glitch. Edited February 20, 2015 by halp
eno 1049 Posted February 20, 2015 (edited) Weird night last night on the Musty gaming server... but definitely par for this course! I'd had a character freshly spawned after getting killed in the last story with Schwab- I thought I was up north along the coast in Svet... in fact I was sure of it. Within 2 minutes of getting in game I stumbled into someone. I called out to them and they rushed over. I hadn't even had a chance to look over my inventory yet to see what I had onboard... "Eh there- how's it going?" I said cautiously. "Good- just gearing up. Need anything?" "To be honest I haven't even looked over my stuff yet- but..." I checked, "looks like I'm doing okay actually. Couple cans of pop and some spag." "Nice. Well here's some cereal anyway- just in case." Nice guy- thanks! We went our own ways. I put the coast on my left and started running to what I thought was Ber. Strange thing though- I could see these 4 apartment buildings off to my right... I remembered a scene like that from some of the youtube videos I'd watched from around Elek / Cherno. Sure enough after a little map study I realized I was in Elektro- not in Svet... that changed things pretty quickly and I instantly turned around and started making my way east with the intention of heading north. It wasn't long before I saw a shape standing still in the middle of the road. I assumed it was a zombie so I drew my pick axe. It then moved in a way that made me realize it wasn't a zed at all... I put my weapon away. "Come at me bro!" came the taunt over direct chat. "Stand down there- you were just standing still so I thought you were a zombie. I don't want any trouble." "Oh yeah? Well you found it-" He came over to me with his fists up and punched me in the face. "C'mon man- bring it on." Seriously? "Come on bitch... what's the matter- can't take out a fresh spawn?" "Not interested." "Okay well, I need you to kill me because I have things I need to do and I need another spawn... So why don't you just pull out that pick axe of yours and take me out." "I would have but you came at me so I'm not interested in helping you." I turned and started running down the road and he chased me... blabbing away the whole time. "Oh so you're going to be like that? Well that's okay... I can chase you forever- well, at least until I die of starvation or thirst. Come on man... you're actually going to make me chase after you?" Right then I knew there was nothing I could say that would annoy him more than making him chase me instead of just killing him... so I could effectively kill two birds with one stone. 1) Annoy him. 2) Get where I was going. "Ooooooooh, wait a minute... are you one of the guys I murdered in here, is that why you're not talking to me? I've murdered a lot of people in this server... Hold on, were you one of the guys with that chick? Well... I'm not sorry that I called her a bitch- a bitch just like you are being. You taking me to your friends? I hope so, so that I can kill you in front of them and tell them what a bitch ass you are..." Blah blah blah. You know- the part that is so disappointing about this is that we're not talking about some 11 year old squeaker... This was an adult. I tuned him out as I ran and eventually after about 15 seconds of silence I checked 6 and he was running off the road into a field. I ran up the coast a bit further, caught up on some sustenance and then continued on my way. Came into Kamyshovo and realized I was in very unfamiliar territory. Since the beginning I've been hanging out in the NE area a bit more- getting to know it really well so I could find my way around easily. Down here- I had no idea where I was and spent a bunch of it looking at the map. How hard could it be though- right? Coast on my right... keep that in line and I should be in Ber in no time- right? Well... right- But getting from point A to point B isn't just about walking a straight line... Sometimes a big part of the journey is in whether or not the area in between is contested or not and I'd never even HEARD of Kamyshovo. The fact that I heard multiple gunshots before I'd even reached the city limits was a telling indicator. I hugged the coast along the docks- dipping my toe into the town occasionally to check out some sheds in search of a better melee weapon. I had an ice axe as well as the pick- but I'd have traded my open can of spag and an hour of sexual favours for a fire axe at that moment. To my surprise other than some distant gunshots I didn't see anyone. I moved around to the eastern edge of town when it seemed I'd stumbled into a game of musical chairs and I was the last seat. I first heard a few shotgun blasts... more than 2 so I knew that was an MP133. A couple of quick rifle shots followed- probably an SKS. Alrighty- well I'll just give this place a miss. Except that I didn't want to turn my back and run into the open- I ducked into a bush and just stood in it... surprisingly well camouflaged. Then another guy with a dry bag ran past... followed by a fresh spawn. I was going to tell the fresh to hang back since things were a bit crazy but to be honest this was all very new to me and I totally forgot. More shooting... a couple guys could be seen running around the base of the large red house on the eastern edge of town... then another. More shooting- but for the life of me I couldn't figure out what was going on... who was who? I was perfectly content not knowing and stayed perfectly still. One last shot- and I noticed some glitching on the upstairs floor of the red house (or building... not sure what it was exactly). Looked like a bag was laying on the ground (it made sense that whomever it belonged to had been killed by that last shot) and another guy was visible running back and forth upstairs. I could see him through the windows and occasionally he would glitch and be visible through the wall. I waited a bit longer but things were quiet so time to didi out of there. Made it up the road about 2 minutes before I started hearing chatter on direct chat. I ducked out of sight and saw 2 guys coming up the road towards where I'd just left. I called out to them from cover to let them know that things were busy indeed up ahead but they didn't hear me. As I was trying to get their attention a fresh came sprinting up on me from the same direction. "Hello! Are you nice?" "Yes, I'm pretty nice." He had a hatchet in his hand. "But how about you just keep some distance for me, okay?" He did. "You doing okay? Need anything?" "Are you serious? You're not just going to kill me?" This was a younger player- young as in I'm not sure if it was a boy or a girl. "No, I don't play that way." "All anyone ever does in here is kill me or beat me up... thank you for being a nice guy. I'm very thirsty and hungry... I've been running a lot." I handed over my spag and some vegetables and a couple cans of pop. "Wow, you are very nice! Thank you thank you!" "Be careful if you're going through town up ahead... it's crazy up there right now- lots of shooting." We said our goodbyes and I kept going north. A minute after that another guy came running up the beach. "Hello there." We talked briefly and after doing a quick inventory I realized I didn't have anything left (in the way of food) to give. During the discussion he mentioned he'd just been killed in the "next town over" and was heading back in to get some payback. "Did that just happen like 10 minutes ago?" "Yeah- why, were you in on it?" Uh oh... abort! Abort! "I was hiding in a bush listening to it all go down- which is one reason why you've met me running away from there. Too crazy for me." He told me the story briefly and it seemed like a pretty traditional pvp encounter and he was going to get some revenge. "I don't have much to offer in terms of food but I do have some shotgun shells here and some bandages." He appreciated that and then dropped 9 pieces of netting... "Take it or leave it-" I asked how he'd managed to find so much so fast and he explained that he'd spawned in next to the little boats and it was just laying there. Fair enough, I'll take some! Another guy came up to us but gave us both a bit of a bad feeling so we broke off in our own directions. I did make it up to Solnichniy and met up with another survivor- had a brief conversation and he was very hungry. I only had a tomato left but I'd found some tools I needed to make a garden plot and grow some veg so I invited him to hang out while I got things started. He was very polite and declined but said he might be back. I got my garden going... eventually found some lime to speed things up and the guy came back over to check on things. We went about our business around each other for awhile... and right when my first crop of tomatoes was finished the server crashed. Christoffer.s 13 Posted February 20, 2015 I hear you guys but it feels a bit wrong to get killed just to be at another spawn point "the cards have been given so to say", i bet my current "first" character have run 3 marathons so far. I've been in the southwest corner and are currently on the northeast. Sure its a long run from time to time but i don't mind really, rather that then begging to get killed. It kinda ruins the illusion for me that i'm trying to survive even if its only in a game.
