Positive posts only: what feature are you looking forward to

Im looking forward to zombie hordes and ability to barricade my self indoors while 100's of zombies pound on the door from outside. This got me thinking, will those doors be breakable or are we going to be completely safe inside.

Trade Post for Barter / NPC traders and or Player Barter or both =) a safe zone to trade / meet up swap story's. (perhaps a small town with a pub / bar)

 

 

Gold and Silver / Gems in the form of coins / bars / jewelry ect

 

Night Vision optics (super rare) for most weps and or goggles. Thermal / light enhancing...

I don't know DayZ lore that well I admit, however would not the addition of nighvision equipment add to the game's dynamics?

My main reason is both of these are present in warz or ISS as it's now known, didn't like it. Even devs have said, no npcs or safezones, will be in the game.

Nvgs would only encourage pvp, something we do not need more of. Someone with nvgs could take out a whole server population at night, I know you said make them rare, but this wouldn't stop pvp minded people, they will server hop till they get their hands on them. To me any modern piece of weaponry is a no, I want this game to be hardcore survival, we don't need another Arma.

I am Sorry, but ummm are you talking about what is going on Now in the world?

 

DayZ is a game friend, not a graphic representation of what is happing now...

If we get barricading / base building, it would be good if you could do things like set buildings on fire, but that would probably mean having to have a complicated terrain destruction system, which I don't see on any roadmap.

BTW =D Can anyone link me to the LORE of DayZ?

 

I know of the green mountain storys and such..But, is there any kind of Lore that should be known?

 

(eg How long has this been? What date and time the Zeds started? How far flung the plague has spread? If indeed it is a plague?)

 

 

IMO DayZ NEEDS a Backstory and I have yet to find one... DEVS>?

you could just server hop to gain entry to locked building.

nein, dev stated that you cant spawn into/inside a barricaded * or was the term "occupied ?? cant remember* Zone. *whatever that means, we will see.

 

'safe zone'

again, dev´s stated they ponder the idea of Underground bases aka "save zones" havent heared of that in a while tho.

There are a lot of things I'd love. But here are some things I haven't seen from others.

I want food items like cans to leave empty cans behind,

I want empty shell casings to be left behind.

I want bleeding players to leave blood trails.

I would love horses to ride on

Have you played the mod? Epoch or Overpoch in particular? You can break down barricades, cut them down with chainsaws, drive through walls with a tank, or just shoot up the house (bullets penetrate.)

 

What I have a problem with is on server (loot) storage that is indestructible or unreachable. 

 

The lockable safes in epoch irritated me, no ones gear should be perfectly safe if they leave it on a server. It's like having a security blanket of gear that you know will still be there even if someone finds it.

 

Another thing is I don't want to walk around and see peoples failed attempts at base building, epoch was an eyesore mainly due to the all the useless and out of place 'user created content'.

 

Stick to minecraft or lego irl if you wanna play with blocks.

 

 

 

 

also where do I find the tanks in the standalone?

DayZ should not have a backstory. Maybe some little details here and there, little clues...but DayZ and Chernarus is, in a way, very mystical.

 

Remember the first time you played? No map, just...wandering around, every bend of the road and every hill was a new sight and a mystery was around every corner? I know that, as good as it has to have a map, the magic of discovery is gone now. It's like Skyrim. The first character you have is always the most magical, since you don't know anything about the world you're jumping into.

 

Chernarus is the same way. DayZ doesn't need to go the way of Dead Space, which is a perfect example of how trying to explain things that should remain a mystery only ruins things. The more you learn, the less you fear, the less wonder you have. Understanding leads to comfort. Chernarus and the mythos of what happened there should neer be explained, only left for players to imagine for themselves without hope of catharsis.

This is why I hope base building is centered around existing building that are barricaded and then expanded. During an apocalypse no one will be building huge structures by themselves. If the devs want to maintain this concept of "authenticity" they used to talk about then building a new structure, from scratch, should be so labor intensive that only a big clan can do it. And by that I mean, For a stone wall with 100 stones you should have to go and harvest 100 stones. For a log cabin you should have to collect and carry every single log to your cabin in your hands. Like in "The Forest" but more intense.

wear animal skins, to sneak up on people (hope they don't want to eat me)

 

play piano in piano house

 

removing the gamma/brightness adjustment, so we're all fumbling in the dark

 

all servers on a particular hive, are synced with the same time of day/weather (so ppl cannot hop to avoid that nasty night, rain etc)

 

I like the idea of heavy storms/fog, reducing visibility to meters

 

setting grass on fire to flush people out of sniper spots / buildings..a la farcry2

- electrical distribution / power generators

 

* zeds

- fast

- slow

- fat

- thin

- agressive

- more deadly

- attracted to light

- attracted to sounds / ingame voice chat

- more of them

- spawning everywhere

 

* More survival aspects and realism

  2. Weather systems as others mentioned... snow would be great
  3. Player Ageing
  • - not sure how feasible, but it would be great to have characters age the longer they live (hours pld) - even if stages, I don't know something like stubble, moustaches, beards, longer hair, greying hair... even aged skin. This for me would be a badge of honour (no achievements should ever be shown imo - but this is like VOIP in game,,, you need to physically (in game, you know what I mean) see them/meet them. Of course, I am sure this is a double edged sword as people will want to kill them old buggers ;)  
  1. Larger Building complexes - unique
  • Like the Schools/ offices/ casinos etc  ; 4, 8 times the size - can you imagine as a block with courtyard between corridors and classes - glass all the way through... bullets and glass spraying everywhere
  1. Events (like heli crash sites)
    • random - military convoy (but like 100 potential sites and 5% chance etc)
    • Rare Randon - something like a pleasure cruiser drifting into ... electro, cherno ,,,, anywhere off the shore... bringing lots Zeds? different loot etc
    • Zombie Fest - something like a mine becomes uncovered causing hordes of zombies to suddenly swarm somewhere... rare and random again

Anyway just a few idea, sorry about my borked number here!

One thing im really looking forward to is the "fleshing out" of the survival mehcanics :)

Things like diseases, temperature, agriculture and all the other stuff, that will make it harder to survive in Chernarus.

 

I fell in love with this game (the mod) because of the survival aspects and i cant wait to see what they have in store for us in the future.

It is already going in a very good direction, with the 0.49 update for hypothermia and hyperthermia.

The upcoming Maska-1 helmet. I don't even care if it's just a piece of equipment, I have a huge hardon for russian stuff, especially those huge helmets with a ballistic shield.
