PythagorasHP 27 Posted August 13, 2014 Hey guys, All you all know, with the recent 0.48 update they have added a new attachment for the Mosin called a Burlap Wrap. What this item is is basically a burlap sack that's been cut into strips that you can wrap your Mosin up in to make it look more tacti-cool and break up the gun's silhouette a little bit. You can also add some grass to the wrap! To do this you need a Burlap Sack and any type of cutting tool (Machette and kitchen knives are confirmed to work so far, axes do not work). Just cut the Burlap Sack with your cutting tool of choice and it'll turn into a Burlap Wrap. If you want to add grass (Who wouldn't) just place the Burlap Wrap in your hands and look down at any patch of grass and it'll give you the option to stuff it with grass. Voila now you just have to add it to your Mosin and you're all set Vasili Zaytsev! So far I've only been able to put it on a Mosin. I've tried putting the wrap on an AKM and AK101 and neither of those work. Haven't been able to test it on the new CR525 rifle yet because I haven't found one. The only complaint I have with the wrap itself is it's a little too white. Laying down in the grass the white of the burlap wrap just doesn't blend in with the surrounding foliage, and even when you add grass to it it doesn't help too much. It still breaks up the gun silhouette very well though so overall I really like it. Here are some pictures for you guys to see how the wrap looks on a Mosin. Tell us what your opinions so far about the Burlap Wrap, and also add any information I haven't included!`Pyth
Reg Park 160 Posted August 13, 2014 that is pretty cool
☣BioHaze☣ 7337 Posted August 13, 2014 I expected it to be a bit more, I dunno... bushy I guess? Still really awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Halven (DayZ) 11 Posted August 13, 2014 (edited) I've been looking forward for this item, i got disappointed thought.Because as you said, the wrap is way to visible, even when you add grass. This kinda ruinds the whole point to use one, it's supposed to camo the weapon and instead it draws more attention. klesh 2423 Posted August 13, 2014 I imagine if I were doing that irl I would make the burlap strips about half as wide.
Calvin Candie 189 Posted August 13, 2014 I so looked forward to this! And got a dissapointed big time! As you said, the burlap strings are too visible. My friend tested it today and the only thing visible was the burlap part of the whole..thing!!! Devs, forget everything else!! this needs to be fixed ASAP!! XD --no for real. please fix it. I cant be stealthy enough. Camouflage paint on mosin still beats this.
TheWizard14 372 Posted August 14, 2014 Still waiting for that dumbass LRS to be removed from functioning on the mosin.
Bororm 1156 Posted August 14, 2014 It's cool but it seemed very white on my screen, which actually causes the mosin to stick out even more imo.
Leo Balzac 190 Posted August 14, 2014 looks like crap, IMO. If you like it though, great, enjoy it!
irl-calibre 744 Posted August 14, 2014 looks good with the bipod - hope you can spay paint it though
Katana67 2907 Posted August 14, 2014 It looks great. But, again, I can't help but say that the new items/clothing as of late seems to be too... clean. It clashes really harshly with the previous objects. A ragged old burlap sack magically transforms into a starched piece of fabric, that's supposed to be camouflage? Would love to see this type of thing on more weapons, like the assault rifles.
nebuuuu 11 Posted August 14, 2014 (edited) yeah, i got this too. Awesome look and easy to make. :) Edited August 14, 2014 by Nebuuuu
cartire 55 Posted August 14, 2014 Got it. Was syked. It sucks. It makes your gun way way way more visible because of how white it is. The grass is almost not even noticable. Its bad. And the fact that they added this while making it worse to use it, is just stupid.
darthbane67 92 Posted August 14, 2014 Awesome thanks for the share.
AzrailCross 48 Posted August 14, 2014 Aside from the burlap sticking out like a sore thumb waiting for black-green camo painting it's a good addition.
hombrecz 832 Posted August 14, 2014 looks good with the bipod - hope you can spay paint it though Kinda weird picture and not only because it's almost pitch black. You no longer can attach bipod to Mosin and personally I think, that Mosin is fine just with bayonet and PU scope.Such old rifle is best left barebones, not every weapon needs to have all these tacticool attachments. I'm glad that shotgun did not get rails and bipod :-).
Exorade 214 Posted August 14, 2014 (edited) It looks great. But, again, I can't help but say that the new items/clothing as of late seems to be too... clean. Everything is too clean. All things when they're pristine look like you pulled them directly out of a plastic bag at the local factory. The damaged look of all clothing and items should replace pristine. Khanarac 252 Posted August 14, 2014 (edited) That "additional camo" actually does the contrary. Why can't I make the burlap sack dirty to make it browinish? That would be great and actually help. Instead the mosin now looks like a rotten zucchini. Imo utterly useless. Our snipers already tossed their wraps. In addition to that it's made kinda illogical. There is no visible strings or anything to attach the sack and the sack covers the chamber of the gun and the lever to reload but not the frontal part of the scope, where there are no instruments for zeroing or anything for your hands.. Seriously? Whoever made this didn't care or didn't know that guns eject bulletcasings. Edited August 14, 2014 by Khanarac
blacklabel79 949 Posted August 14, 2014 some tweakage is needed. Why not the following: find the shore of a lake and use mud on the stripes to darken them. Like you can add grass... Problem solved. Also as Khanarac pointed out, it is covering vital parts of the gun that actually make it a ,duh, gun :D
Katana67 2907 Posted August 14, 2014 Everything is too clean. All things when they're pristine look like you pulled them directly out of a plastic bag at the local factory. The damaged look of all clothing and items should replace pristine. It's not that. Items created early on were just rendered differently. They have folds, grit, maybe even a different kind of normal map/shader/fuck if I know. Just look at something like the High Capacity Vest, or, one of the new bandanas. They are far too clean, so much so that they clash heavily with the previous clothing items. #dayzfashionpolice
Khanarac 252 Posted August 14, 2014 Agreed. For instance. You can spot dirt on jeans and TTSkO Pants in pristine condition. Imo the new items just look cheap, wrong and unfitting. Esp a damaged HCvest just looks ridicolous with its just darkened colours. No other clothing item behaves that way when it's damaged.
Etherimp 1323 Posted August 14, 2014 Here's something nobody has mentioned about this that makes it really suck: If you remove your LRS/PU Scope and try to ADS, you have no crosshair... Have fun with that. It's kind of a waste, the gun w/ Black/Green paint on it is better camo'd anyway.
ChainReactor 922 Posted August 14, 2014 It's a nice addition but indeed, it needs some tweaking. By the way, the burlap sack is actually brownish when you pick it up, and also the improvised backpack is brownish. It's like making a wrap magically cleans the burlap. Imagine they would implement a ghillie suit that makes you look like a mummy that fell over on a patch of grass once...
