  1. 1. Does fall damage need to be one of the major adjustments next?

Heh, maybe they will add a trip/fall animation so people can see what's really happening before they get the "you are dead" screen :D

Haha, one can only hope man!

It's amazing how rubbery a human looks when bouncing off the ground

Those are most likely head trauma injuries.  The problem with DayZ's falling is that it doesn't represent anything like real life.  There is no flailing in mid fall, we fall with the same camera angle as we walk/run

What about ragdoll falling? Like Just Cause 2. But then with realistic damage to different body parts.

I climbed a ladder up to the firehouse in elecktro, and when I crawled down a guy was tryin to axe me. He pulled out an M4 as I got to the top of the ladder and he fired and missed, I was launched into the air. As I flew up, I was screaming "SUPA FLY MUTHAFUCKA"

When I hit the roof, I landed on him, broke my legs and it killed/knocked out the would be cod kiddie. He had morphine and a bandage, so I double tapped and went on my merry little way.

Too long; Cant read: Ladder saved my life and made me kill a man.

Heh, that would be cool and we do technically have realistic damage to different body parts, well two parts, legs and arms.  I'm curious as to how many people who have died on ladders have been doing so with a broken arm?

The insanely deadly low fall damage is something that should be adressed, from the times of Arma 2.

No guys, you don't die from a 4 meter drop, that's retarded. At 5 meters,i would expect to disclocate your ankle or break bones at best,

but death? Come on.... In a recent Tweet dev said that "ladders are getting some love" so now it would be a good chance to address

this problem as well, seriously the fall damage is the number 1 reason of retarded deaths. It should be adressed now that the game is in Alpha

stages and i kind of see it as a good addition in the to-do list.

this thread is as usual, redundant.

Then report it or up vote it on the bug tracker instead of making redundant threads repeating the same issues over and over.

The only trolling is you creating an identical thread of an identical thread of an identical thread.  If you can't alpha, maybe you should take a break.

If you think a post or topic is redundant, a swift poke at the report button will suffice. Your friendly local forum team will apply their full wisdom to the matter at hand, and act accordingly.

In this case, the action is inaction. Very Tao.

But please, don't harrass. Harrassing is more likely to cause someone to 'take a break' than is posting topics similar to topics that have already been posted in the past.

Hello there

Also, with the implementation of the Ragdoll one can imagine that fall damage will tie into that.

Next patch instafix? Nah. It might well be sorted, but its not a high priority IMHO.

Does it need sorting? Yes.

Are the devs aware? Of course they are, they play too.

As Max says. Play nice or you wont be able to have nice things.

Rgds

I wouldn't deem it "unfair", but the devs obviously have their priorities set. They're also the ones with the extensive programming & video game design knowledge.

I imagine that fall damage at this point in development is fairly low priority.

Can we discuss how we would like to see it in the finished state? Sure.

Should we try to have it addressed in the next patch? I personally don't believe that's necessary. The devs know far better than we do.

EDIT: god..DAMN do I look good as a red-head.

haha yes indeed you do :D

But idk, I'll have to disagree blunce. Sure the development may know better etc, but that doesn't stop the conversation :D there are plenty of topics we all more than likely know nothing about, but we certainly do have the right to comment on them and provide our feedback. That's out role in this community.

Then again maybe I'm just selfish, and have taken one too many a tumble and am FED UP! I'M BOYCOTTING DAYZ FOREVER! (lul)

Teleporting hacker!!!!! :D

Umm well yeah much to my surprise that's kind of what I thought when I suddenly found myself flying across west chernaurus lol...the screenshots I took were in the last second or 2 of my roughly 5 second flight lol. Took me a few seconds to realize "Oh shait, I should probably screenshot it this time" as it had already happened earlier today ha.

The only trolling is you creating an identical thread of an identical thread of an identical thread.  If you can't alpha, maybe you should take a break.

Methinks you should redefine your definition of trolling lol

Oh btw, any other threads that address the current patch's movement mechanics in correlation to the fall damage issue, as well as zombie ragdoll physics affecting falling, as well as addressing a potential bug with being flung across the map?

I would LOVE to see one.

*smh* anyway, good effort my boy

This thread must be filled with senior citizens, I've landed jumps much higher than the fire station roof IRL without a scratch.

hmmmm 4 meters is roughly 13 feet, which is a pretty good drop with a backpack full of gear and a weapon in your hand.

especially with a hatchet strapped to your back

A human can is unlikely to drown in a teaspoon of water, so it's quite possible unlikely to get killed from a 10 ft drop.

Considering how a 15-foot fall can EASILY shatter both of your legs if you land wrong, a 12 foot fall should have some serious repercussions....

Clearly falls into low priority list to me, lets let them get new renderer and more zeds in first :)

last experimental patch you could jump off the capital citys town hall and to my shock i survived so i did it about 3 more times  .... so i rekon you guys toons are just soft ... im sure someone will correct me but i think it might be the highest jumping point in the game

I completely agree. However, death? I say preposterous. I am completely fine with a 12 foot fall or less breaking my legs or injuring my character. COMPLETELY acceptable. That's why I always carry a splint (or if I wanted to crash a server LAWL)

but its alpha!

We are owed nothing and take whatever they hell they will give us.

Please tell me that you are being sarcastic...

Partly. On one hand im being hopeful the game will get fixed, on the other Im worried when realizing nothing big has been fixed in 8 months.

Manipulating fall damage can be done quite easily. They should definitely decrease it until the glitches are fixed. Until we have flying vehicles fall damage doesn't affect gameplay all that much, in my opinion.

And how would they go about doing that, if I may ask you to explain

Just turn it off until the have time to work out the glitches? The only people it would affect are suiciders.

....so your name is scriptfactory...

and your brilliant solution for fixing fall damage is to turn it off......

.................................................................well damn. I thought you actually had some sort of logical solution to the issue at hand.

It was off for a while and I don't feel like my gameplay was affected. I never though, "Damn. If fall damage was on that dude wouldn't have been able to kill me." I have thought, "If fall damage was off I probably wouldn't have broken my legs when simply logging into the game." They obviously don't have time to focus on it. I wouldn't mind if it was off.

I still don't think you get how hilariously Ironic your solution is lol.

Because you were expecting something smart and not easy?

I work as a programmer. Sometimes you have to weigh the benefits of an easy solution vs. the time investment required for a complete solution. I just don't feel that fall damage is a crucial part of gameplay at this point in time. I wouldn't mind it if was turned off or extremely decreased.
