Dayz needs pvp free servers

Recommended Posts

I know its meant to be a survival game but wouldn't it just be a good idea to make some servers have it so u cant kill other. I mean in my opinion that would make the game fun.. and I would play so much more. I would like to hear ur opinions on the matter and if or not u think its a good idea

PS the reason i dislike the pvp in the game is because shoot on site is f***ing annoying as hell, I mean it honestly makes me really dislike the game and question why I bought it

No PvP = not DayZ in my opinion.

If you don't like getting shot on site, travel around the lower populated area of the map, or go on a lower population server.

And if you don't want PvP for player interaction's sake, just... keep trying.

I know of tons of people who quit the game because of the bad pvp conditions now, and the KoS problem.

So why not make pvp-free servers and save those players? I think pvp-free severs are a good idea.

In a real zombie apocalypse, where killing for food or supplies might be the only option, would there be a "pvp free" area? of course not. Its part of the game. Quit whining like a 12 year old and get over it.

People would abuse 'PvP-free' servers to collect military gear and then hop to PvP-enabled servers to shoot each other.  That would be the only purpose that kind of server would... serve.

If you're playing this game and you're in a situation where you hear a gunshot and your adrenaline doesn't spike, you're doing it wrong.

You probably shouldn't be playing DayZ if you were looking for a PvE game.

What a dumb thing to say.

Of course there are people who think there should be PvE only servers. If the environment was more harsh and nature really played a part in survival I would 100% agree with you, but sadly this game is built around PvP...not even PvZ.

You could multiply the number of zombies 100x and make the environmental factors as real as they can be, and the game would still be built on pvp. why? because name one game that you have played that an npc or non-player character has ever been more interesting then a human opponent. exactly. no matter what you do, a multiplayer game where pvp is an option will make that game have pvp be the number 1 factor. And one more thing. "what a dumb thing to say." grow up.

Don't dream... PVP is one fundamental (among others) of Dayz. Removing it means deny what is Dayz. For comparison it would be like playing COD without PVP. Unthinkable...

You must adapt yourself.

Isnt there such a thing as PVE servers? Where some servers don't allow PVP, others don't allow KOS?

I thought I remembered seeing PVE servers in DayZ mod.

There are a few but unfortunately they do not have a big population and get a lot of hate from people as seen above.

Start your own server or install DaiZy (single player DayZ mod) I guess.

I seem to remember one such server.  DE 2768 was a whitelist restricted, PVE-only, no vehicle stealing Bambi playground, complete with regular settings instead of veteran just to make sure it was devoid of entertainment.  And public hive to boot.

If you hate the game for that reason, then you shouldn't be playing the game.  Honestly, DayZ IS about PvP, whether you like it or not.  The game is about survival from EVERYTHING.  If you cannot learn to avoid situations that put you in a KoS position, then that is your fault.

I seek out PvP, and do KoS.  You have no idea how easy players like you make it for players like me.  Simple understandings of your surroundings, and how to move through towns to not avoid drawing attention to yourself increases your survivability by a lot.

But you will never learn that ability because you're on here crying for servers that have no PvP, therefore you will always be easy pickings.  If you want a no PvP server, than do as was suggested, set up your own server, and run it how you want.  I think it's BS to skirt the way the game is designed, but it'd be your server you're paying for, so have fun.

Hate from haters... no!

When you degrade others for playing a video game it shows those people have very little real talent, so they need to feel like winners in a game where the skills are all fake.

Real winners play for fun and live life without being judgmental... whether that's in PVP or PVE doesnt matter at all.

just download dayz launcher and type in PVE in the search box, I just did it to check and there are at least ten busy non PVP servers. Hope this helps brother

Uh, no, this would ruin the game.

I wouldn't say that brother, its just two sides of an extreme coin. You get the PVP donor loadout servers, where people play like its COD. Then you get players who like to team up to fight the zeds and AI without the fear of other players trying to kill them all the time. One game, two different play styles.

The idea of no PvP is an option i.m.o. as diverse people, have diverse interests. So why not give those people a PvE world? If that makes somebody happy, why not. I can image people like to play this game because they like walking in a post apocalyptic environment, or try to 'survive' from zombies or just enjoy the scenery. For somebody who lives abroad of Russia and want to see a virtual Russia, DayZ is a great place.*

For me personally, DayZ would lose my interest sooner or later if it was only PvE. After a while, the game would become predictable. Predictable is the opposite of interesting. A human player is never a 100% predictable, hence the game retains a grade of interest. No virtual bot can replace the human factor like a human. On a further personal not, I like to play as a hero / helper and if there were no bandits, than like a policeman in a crimeless area, I would out of a job.

Lastly, it is possible to adapt to the current PvP / KoS culture. I had trouble in the beginning like many others but by remaining stealthy my current character is alive for 23 days now.

Goodluck man, hope you'll enjoy the game after all!

* Yes, I know it's modeled on Cz. but trust me, it's nearly identical.

I hear you brother, and you make good points. However, adapting to PVP/KOS servers by stealthing around knowing everyone is out to get you is just as unappealing as a server where no-one is out to get you IMO! Like I say, total PVP or PVE is two sides of an extreme coin, the perfect servers are the ones that offer a fair balance. Like vanilla dare I say?

Thanks! Indeed PvE / PvP are two very different things. Like I said, everyone prefers their own challenge. Surviving firefights, surviving hunger, finding a chopper, kill 20 rabbits.. whatever. The challenge for me is not to get killed and help others. Therefore before I engage in a interaction I stalk a person, watch his interaction with others and then consider contact. I get a lot of satisfaction when *insert Hannibal Smith sigar* my plans come together. I.e. I confirm a hostile and walk away, or help a survivor who gets engaged at while nobody knows where those helpfull shots came from. Try sneaking/stealthing around Stary in broad daylight in a Ghillie suit - it is amazing. The things u see, and the choices you could make with that M40A3 zero'd in.. no game like this.

The beauty of DayZ is that one can play it any way he likes so everyone gets pretty much what he wants. Except a KoS-free world..yet. So I support the appeal of the OP.

Great post Fulcrum. Unlike your good self though I am not yet good enough at the game to be able to do the stuff you do, I just survive on my wits! Grab food, drink water where I find it, grab whatever guns I find, whatever vehicle I stumble accross and travel. Like you say, everyone prefers their own challenge, which is why we all do the things we do.

I used to operate a PvP free server. However, we had AI bandits etc. roaming around back then. Here is a old thread: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/144762-%E2%96%BA%E2%96%BA-fractionals-coop-server-%E2%97%84%E2%97%84-%E2%96%AC-1771-%E2%96%AC-veteran3doffchoffgmt-7-ai-bases-operations-active-admins-great-community-whitelist/

We were about 5-6 players on at all times. The server did not spike that much interest.

Go and play left4dead and kill stupid zombies all day and allnights long. KOS and PvP will allways exist in DayZ if you cant handle you can play another games.
