Best settings for better spoting players in forests?

You have to set 'Anti-aliasing' to 'embarrassing', 'Shadows' to 'Full Cheat' and 'Texture Quality' to 'Being a wanker'.
Also, moved.

Don't do that again please, it is a weakness of the engine that certain will exploit.

We are all "wankers" to some degree !

Honestly, if spotting players is your main issue, get out of the forest. But I don't know, I tend to like my game to look better, instead of being able to see things in the bushes more clearly.

Not the main one, but it is. I hate towns, going there only for supplies, and spoting player before he spots you is good, you can decide to kill or run away!

Best post of the week.

Bit crass though, and not at all helpful. I've reported myself for it and I'm not the only one.

But I do feel that exploiting the video settings to murder people more efficiently goes against the 'spirit' of the game, and that, to me, is what makes this particular game special. Dayz is not about k/d ratio, it's not about 'winning' and it's not about any other kind of statistic that separates you from the experience, it's about "running-alone-in-the-woods, oh-so-scared my golly" and all the side stories that human interaction will create on that basis.

But that is me, mileage may vary.

Maximum settings all day, baby. I'd rather die in a beautiful environment than live in a pixelated one.

What's get me in woods is when foliage/trees go from low res to higher res as you get closer. I'd love to minimize that a bit effect a bit. I see in in a lot of people's youtube video and it's very distracting. Not sure what it's called - it's like pop in but not quite the same.

Yeah, there should be an option to turn that off entirely. I do not mind my game being ugly as sin but trees popping in and out of view is the most annoying thing because it makes the landscape look alive.
