Sashiku 2 Posted July 11, 2014 (edited) My friends and I decided we wanted to all get DayZ because it sounded like fun to play together. None of us like PVP, and we mostly just wanted to explore around with eachother. it took us 3 REAL LIFE days to find each other. Finally this evening, we were in the same town, but before we could meet, my friend died. It is IMPOSSIBLE to meet friends because no matter how hard you try, you will end up either dead before meeting, or end up at opposite ends of the continent. There NEEDS to be a way to find friends easier, This is something that is NOT optional in game we play. I'm poorly sighted so I have the hardest time surviving very long. Therefore, I'm usually the one who is told to hide out in a building and just wait for my friends to arrive, which just never happens. There are three reasons why: People kill them on sight in supposedly friendly servers.Zombies can go through the damn walls.Zombies are like super overpowered especially when you first spawn in and have nothing. No map system that is easy to find/use. We had to rely on the direction of the sun to find eachother and it literally took us 3 days to get to eachother through all this. Sigh... I do NOT wanna play this with a bunch of dicks who just want to shoot me on sight. I want to play with my friends. I'll just come back in a few months to try again. Love the game, hate the difficulty. Maybe they'll add a casual mode for more creative people to enjoy. The last small rant I will leave you with is the lack of headshots on zombies. In most zombie games, if you hit it in the head 1-2 times it's dead. Just sayin. Edited July 11, 2014 by Sashiku
freethink 984 Posted July 11, 2014 (edited) You should use this map: http://dayzdb.com/map and figure out where you are by reading roadsigns. Zombies will soon be unable to go through walls. We are about to test the initial implementation of this on the experimental servers. Edited July 11, 2014 by freethink

Welcome to the apocalypse. Now, imagine you are actually in one - would you have an online-map and / or Teamspeak to figure out where you are? You are supposed to be lost when it's the first time playing. This is a design-choice.

We are about to test the initial implementation of this on the experimental servers. We did use that map, we used signs + the direction of the sun to guide us, but got lost very often. I can't even count how many times my friend Joan completely missed Novoselky and ended up in Chernogorsk or Dubky. I know they're gonna fix most of it, I am just very frustrated because of all the time we've put into just finding one another and it just doesn't work at all. maninthewall 470 Posted July 11, 2014 Impossible? lol I know exactly every single spawn after only 500 hours. So yeah, you can't say it's impossible
doctorbadsign 645 Posted July 11, 2014 If you take the whole experience of the game to rely on finding your friends you most likely won't enjoy it that much. Personally I like playing up to the point of meeting a friend, if we don't meet up that day it doesn't bother me, cause its a good game. If you actively hate the process of meeting up you likely aren't gonna like the game that much more when you are together.
Sashiku 2 Posted July 11, 2014 Welcome to the apocalypse. Now, imagine you are actually in one - would you have an online-map and / or Teamspeak to figure out where you are? You are supposed to be lost when it's the first time playing. This is a design-choice.We use online maps and skype. I am not joking about it either. We spent 3 REAL days searching for each other. We had to go by the direction of the sun to find each other, and it was not very easy to use. IRL you would know something about where you live and most likely your friends would have adresses/celphones/some sort of way to contact others. I know celphones would eventually stop working, but still. I do not enjoy playing scary games alone. They freak me out too much.

I don't mind finding people, I mean I had to find them both in MInecraft and other games, but non took 3 real days which is time I don't have to waste on it. Parazight 1599 Posted July 11, 2014 I saw the title of this thread and was praying to Jesus when I clicked on the link that you were using 36 point text. Oh well. My friends and I decided we wanted to all get DayZ because it sounded like fun to play together. None of us like PVP, and we mostly just wanted to explore around with eachother. If you don't like paranoia and pvp then you will not like this game. Be prepared to spend half a day gearing up and then die for no apparent reason.
ld-airgrafix 403 Posted July 11, 2014 Rather than spend time looking for each other, learn the game. It won't take you long to know what houses spawn loot and which don't.Also it won't be long before you start recognising areas and towns. This game is far from finished so it's not really fun unless you are into pvp.

I like the whole Idea of the game and mostly everything so far, I just wish It was easier to find them is all. I don't mind occasional zombie fights either, they creep me out and get my heart pumping hahaha. As for PVP, I haven't PVPed yet and I'm in day 4 of play. Everyone I have met so far has been kind to me. Plus I Mostly play in friendly servers. :P I am a bit of a chicken though, I am too afraid to go look for my friends so they always come to where I am ^^; I don't see so well so I die pretty easy beacuse I can't see what I am doing. Exploration and creating stories for my character is where my joy comes in. This character has no identity, no story, it's up to me to give her one. :)
misterleroy 15 Posted July 11, 2014 So far I've a mere 40 hours clocked in the game. I've met with friends every day I've played. We use road signs and landmarks (inc the sun) to find each other, usually within 1 hour of playing on any given night. It's not impossible, it's just not easy -- and it's not supposed to be.
Sashiku 2 Posted July 11, 2014 Think of the buzz when you all meet up, the hard effort makes it even more rewarding. Be determined! Regards, Craig.yea, I know. I felt that way for the first 2 days. After about 500 deaths and extreme frustration, I just couldn't take it anymore. I know it will be awesome when we do meet up, but then eventually one of us will die, and it will just start all over again. x.x;;

hleVqq 139 Posted July 11, 2014 First time in DayZ may be hard when you're trying to meet up with somebody, but you'll learn eventually and it won't take more than 30 minutes.
DropBearChick 1216 Posted July 11, 2014 When you start out if its just a single zombie there fairly easy to take out, just put your fists up by pressing space bar, then punch them in the head until they die, it will knock them out so they cant hurt you. It's not so easy with 2 or 3. Plus the blood loss while traveling makes it extremely difficult. Especially since we mostly play on empty servers so nobody can KOS us. I may be somewhat new to this game, but I learned all the controls in the first 15 minutes, and learned a lot about the game on the first day. I don't know everything, but I think I know enough. Plus I don't see so well so it's harder for me to do things. I mostly like games for their creative side and not like hardcore live or die kind of things. I'm hoping there can be more than just regular and hardcore. Casual please ^u^

When i started I was not familiar with DayzMod but this is what we did. 1 Find a low pop server to familiarize with game controls and mechanics and eat/drink2 When comfortable, tell your friends to join said low pop server3 each of you then proceed to the coast4 keep the ocean to your right and run up the coast until one of you reaches the north east cities5 when one of your reaches Berezeno for example then stop and tell your friends6 wait for them as they run up the coast (keeping the ocean to the right)7 you will all meet up in about an hour if not less Ps there are no FRIENDLY server since every one including Kos'ers can hop on any. --What you waiting for?? Go try it! Edit: Lead your group away from that area as soon as possible if you don't want pvp specially before going into a high pop server. Not sure how fun it'd be to spawn with all that stuff. :P Gimme an axe and I'm good. I prefer bows though.
