Why would you leave the North-east corner? Ever?

Recommended Posts

I'd leave it because it's just about shit. Aside from the new, massive town they implemented. Cherneya polana's cool dude, pretty small though. Svetlo is a ghost town of it's former glory of blood, death, gore and ruined t-shirts.

On the flip side, I went to the north east airfield once with an SkS and 30 extra bullets, came out with a 300 round box full of them and 5 dead bodies. Why'd people even go to the NEAF? It's shit xD

This..... :beans:  :beans:  :beans:  :beans:  :beans:  :beans:

Now only if they made gear more scarce...  I made my home at the end of the railroad at the little industrial area north of Lopatino.  Good huntin in that neck of the woods.

Don't tell everybody, dude, they'll find us.

Also loot is more scarce now, they changed the garages (ya know). Had to leave and trek overland to find me a knife..

I find knives just about everywhere. The kitchen knives, that is. Industrial buildings like The One at The coast by Komarovo, and sometimes in the large two story houses (the red ones or the green ones).

I think it's funny people decide to "live" somewhere, then again I do the same thing. But again, it doesn't have to be in the Northwest. There's so many places you can go depending on your play style if you're wiling to try something new every once in a while.

I think that one major point is when zombies will be much more numerous and dangerous. When you see someone, you'll probably think twice before firing a round because it would turn you into an already dead person...

As it's alpha, interaction is poor, but with more ambience, environments and more dangers, players would be inspired to try to cooperate to survive better...

In the meantime, simply avoid populated zones and always watch your back

I would hope that once they balance the loot spawns items like canned food and drinks will be much rarer. This would drive the need to forrage more for supplies (both in town and in the wild) , encourage hunting, cooking etc. I would enjoy the atmosphere i would feel if oftentimes the primary reason for killing someone is because you are hungry and you think they might have some food on them.

There's still lots to come, but i'm sure surviving will become a more prominent challenge. Or at least i hope it does. The only threat is players at the moment.

The new techniques for hunting, fishing, catching water in bottles, finding berries etc all create multiple options for staying alive, and hopefully those will become the main ways for people to eat and drink, the other finding cans and food in towns (but have it more rare) or taking it from other survivors.

Considering there's still lots more being created, i don't expect stuff to be balanced appropriately for a while whilst they are still adding content.

NE portion of the map is for those who don't know how to use a map and can't navigate around to find things elsewhere. It's Elektro all over again, only when the spawns used to be mostly south Elektro was far superior for many reasons imo. People who stay in the NE do so because they want a fire fight (which is ok, nothing wrong with that) or because they're too gimp to use the rest of the map.

I'm trying to imagine the type of person who feels that killing zombies and surviving in DayZ is difficult. I don't understand how people can denounce player versus player scenarios as being boring, citing the excitement of "surviving" in Chernarus.

If the zombies had a 75% chance of infecting you and moved like the zombies in State of Decay, THEN it could be intense fighting them.

If the environment was relentless, food was scarce, supplies were extremely limited, wild animals stalked you, and you were struggling to remain healthy with excruciatingly rare medical supplies, THEN player versus environment would be a viable alternative to killing other people to pass the time.

Currently, surviving is mind-numbingly easy and zombies aren't even a threat. Maybe the Farmville crew got off of Facebook and this is where they migrated.

No doubt about it, Grimey. It's easy, yeah, but it's what I do while waiting for it to get harder. Each enjoys the game their own way, and yes, for many, if not most folks that means PvP while PvE is still at an almost pre-Alpha stage.

It's something enjoyable, the harder things will come eventually, until then: To each their own :-)

Blah blah blah, I don't care I just want to have fun.

I wanted to present you some arguments, but this post of yours is not worth any effort......

Anyway last time I've heard, COD is for age 16+ so you might fit in just nicely.

p.s. I have strong feeling that if DayZ became endless fun for players like you, it would become nigthmare for players who also enjoyed the mod.

For the last three or four months, I've been in the north-east corner of the map, all the time.

Honestly, the lack of players on a server make this game extremely boring if you go in-land a few kilometers (Except Krasno, NEAF, Novo etc.) Even with 40 players.

It's just constant running, looting, no "horror" as this game is suppose to deliver in a way.

Go on a 40 man server, there's no point going in land, since everything is looted. Go on a semi pop server (10-20 players) and you won't even have to worry about them. Because they're obviously in the popular NE corner, or near military spawns.

I'm not moving out of the north east until base building and vehicles are in, the game was so much fun during the 100 player exp servers, and I hope they're working to get them back.

Even 150 would be better. With so many players, you are forced to loot with caution, and being careful when inland, not just straight running around like a jackass and yet being rewarded for that. .

I really want to question how most of you can enjoy this game by running far in-land, running around picking up loot, I mean sure I guess it's a lot more enjoyable with some company, but still, this game is currently about PvP and interactions.. After 560 hours played I've finally understood why people call this a running simulator..

Not a rant, I love this game )

When I 1st started playing DayZ SA, the bulk of the pvp happened in Electro, Cherno/Bolota area and NWAF. NWAF was a really scary place to visit. In the last few months, the pvp now gravitates in the NE, were there tons of basic loot but slim pickings of high end military loot. Other then the new town and the new city, I don't get it. One vary good explanation is its close to fresh spawn points, because the best military loot spawns are on the west coast. I have also noticed players arn't going all out gearing up either as much anymore. They just grab enough to pvp with.

In fact the some people I used to play with they almost had a fatalist hero approach to pvp, why bother getting all geared up when your just going to die. Just grab the bare min. Then if when you do die, you spawn close to your body and you can just go try to loot it. They went from being geared up in the best gear in game, to looking like hobos with some random gun they picked up LOL This all started when everyone started pvping in the NE.

I think allot of this has to do with is because many player want "Instant Gratification". If pvp near spawn points you get that its as simple as that really. For them it isn't as much as a survival game anymore and more of a death match pvp game.

For me DayZ SA is a all out survival game still. My 1st goal still is to keep my avatar alive, healthy and well geared as possible as long as possible. PvP happens when it happens, If I got the itch then I go up to the NE.

I think if they make spawn points random so it could be anywhere near the coast not just east coast. We may start seeing pvp hot zones every where again.

Because I did not buy this game for death match...

I bought this game for the exp of carefully searching and scouting large areas under constant threat of dangers from the players and the environment (like the mod was).

I would say the fact that most the PVP takes place in the spawn areas is cause most the heavy "PVPers" in this game are nothing but spawn campers from proper FPS such as BF and CS who come on dayz to blow off steam killing the defenseless as opposed to marching up to NWAF where the big boys play. In the north east your either a geared bandit waiting for bambis or your a guy who recently spawned with nothing to lose.

contrary to what you say the North west is plenty dangerous and is populated with a class of player who are more capable at defending themselves.

PS even in mod could go from Electro to Devils in 27mins....dunno how its takin an hour to get to Balota from a spawn :P

It's 13 kilometers from the Spawn on the coast North of Rify to the tent city at Balota, as the crow flies, and 17 to 18+ if you follow the coast. Assuming one stops to loot and takes some caution around high pop areas, I can see it taking nearly an hour to get from that spawn point to Balota.

By comparison, it's a little less than 10 kilometers from elektro to Devil's castle.

In a zombie survival game human contact should be rare and if people moved around the map on a 40 player server the interaction would be enough. If however you want to just roll out guns blazing against another squad fuck off and play something else.

Maybe when they add ability to grow a beard after surviving few days you'll leave to the North to get your manly beard?

OMG I don't wanna grow a beard ...

Then I would need a lady shave and tweezers to be added goddammit

I wonder what the new Dean character would look like with a Charley Chaplin moustache?

Anyhow if you guys get the beards then I want eyeliner and different hair for the girls

Back on subject with the current running speed I can be anywhere on the map.

I can't wait till they add tents and barricades, so I'm able to make a base in the NW and I think Novo is becoming the new Berenzino.

So with a permanent base where I can stack up on supplies and weapons, I'll be sure to head over to Novo for some action and not worry to much about getting killed.

I don't know about you but almost every time I go to NW or Balota I end up seeing people.

Just yesterday we killed 2 people at NW and backed off another fight just after that. Then we ran to Cherno to meet one of my friends and saw 2 people along the way ( didn't shoot at). Then when we got to Balota we killed three people on the Airfield. So you saying there is no action is a lie and it is even better to get into fights in the west because everyone has good gear.

First group all had AKMs; the second looked like they had a AKM and Mosin; and the last group had two M4s and a Mosin all decked out. I prefer being In the west because I hate killing fresh spawns or even people that just got a gun. I don't feel good about it or have any fun doing it.

Oh, I would really enjoy a good shave after all this surviving. And a shower and maybe some Anti-Pimple-Cream and Make-up :-)

And decorations for our prettyful homes!

And dresses please! High Heels optional, of course.

I mean, come on! It's the Apocalypse and you're wearing THAT??? :D

After my experience last night.. I can say this is excellent advice:

DO NOT EXPLORE THE GREATER NORTHWEST

.. like the far, far North I mean. Just don't.

At one point I became full on demented, so yeah that is a viable possibility. ;)

No but really.. there is nothing there but roads leading to nowhere. I swear its like a Bermuda Triangle, the sun and compasses just spinning around.. the only way I knew where I was so many times was I found the "no mans land" or the end of the world.. Its just asking to lost going up into those woods. Thank God it got nice and DARK while I was in the middle of it.. my experience just wouldnt have been the same without the darkness of night :( lol
