Shouldn't MP5 fit into backpack?

Recommended Posts

hi,

I was wondering why the MP5 does not fit into backpack since it is a SMG beeing really really short compared to AKM or M4.

This does not make sense to me. Would have been a great combination with Mosin+LRS and MP5 ( ofc sacreficising a lot of space in backpack( like 3 slots down and full to the side or something like that )

What do you think about it?

Ahh ok. will try again then.

Yup takes 3 rows of 4 spaces.

I wish it took only 2 rows of 4 spaces instead, since it is not that ultra good ayway.

Well we tested it.

For someone that has a mosin this is an amazing gun.

If you have to fight CQB it empties its 15 round clip so fast. Imagine doing that on ~10 meters into the chest of an enemy :)

I think the space it takes is ok

Fair enough. I just feel it is a tad longer pistol and pistols take 2 x 3 rows right? So 2x4 would be perfect, but that is only my opinion and I respect that not everybody has to agree.

Sound logic. Makes sense.

EDIT: Although pistols only occupy a 2x2 space. I'd be fine with a 2x4 space requirement for the MP5K.

Oh darn, forgot it's just 2x2 :-). But I'm glad you agree that 2x4 would feel about right.

Btw can't wait when they introduce Skorpion, that little bugger should also be 2x4.....what would be crazy good if you could collapse the stock and it would turn into 2x2 pistol with automatic fire, but with more recoil compared to unfolded stock.

Uh no.  Unless you can tear the thing apart the gun alone is almost 30" long.  3x4 makes sense

Are you sure about this? I've googled it and found:

Size: 23.7 inches extended, 14.5 inches compact

Maybe 2x5 would suit it better, but ok, you have different opinion, no problem.

Still if you could fold buttstock, it becomes pretty handy.

Still can't wait for smaller Skorpion.

It should be only slightly larger than a sawed off. But its quite a bit larger. Should be 2 rows of 4 like you state, like a double sawed off space wise.

2X4 sounds perfect. Should go down to 2x3 with a fordable stock imo.

It's not a super good gun, but it would offer some protection when going cqb if you have a bolt action rifle.

I would recommend that for space high cap vest works best but you are forgetting about gun fights....

Say he is a sniper and take a bullet or two to the chest....runs gets cover and tries to swap to his MP5k...well it now may be ruined

According to Amazon the dimensions of the "Taloon" backpack are 21" tall x 10" wide which DayZ turns into 5x5 slots.

An MP5K is 12.8" x 8.3" inches.

So based on that it should take up about [(12.8/20)*5]x[(8.3/10)*5] =~ 3x4 slots. Which it does.

Ok that is cool with me BUT then why does a fish hook take up an entire slot ;)

Dimensions don't make much sense right now. Look at it from another way and you see AKM is 6x3 slots. AKM is 34.6" by 10.4".

So compared MP5K should be [(12.8/34.6)*6] by [(8.3/10.4)*3]  = 2x2 slots. But that makes no sense, should compare item size and backpack capacity to create sizes.

4x3, it fits into the tiny Taloon backpack and leaves 13 slots free, also fits inside of a high-capacity vest. I see no reason why it should be any smaller!

Thats why you have 2 High cap vests, You put the high cap vest which you store the mp5-k in your bag and wear the other one

This exploit should be fixed soon. Nobody should be able to put full containers into other containers. Such containerception supposedly also caused some lag or desync and as a mechanics make no sense.

What about making MP5K having foldable buttstock, as in real life and while folded, it would take less space in bag?

Downside would be that firing it while folded, would result in more recoil.

Btw I (and probably others too) have suggested, that items from backpack should not be allowed to the hotbar.

Only items from jacket, vest and pants could be put on hotbar and accessed on the go.

Stuff in backpack should be only accessible while you press TAB and that should make your character kneel and do animation of shuffling through backpack.

I believe you will agree with me, that running while you move stuff around backpack, or easily acessing backpack items with hotbar on the go, should go. Mod was better in this regard and I hope they will do something similar in SA too.

Well, those dimensions I posted are for an MP5K without any stock whatsoever  it's going to take up most of the room in that bag folded or not. It wouldn't fit inside the high-capacity vest in real life either since it's divided into many smaller pockets.

Thats obvious that it would not go into tacvest in real life, since those are made for magazines, grenades and such stuff :).

Anyway, once they make Skorpion vz 61 (or whichever), that little devil should take less space for sure!

I feel that the vests, pants, shirts, and even backpacks (to some extent) should have slight spaces between slots which would vary depending on the style worn.

e.g: A Mountain Backpack would still be 35 slots, but the main section of the bag might only be 20 slots (4×5) with three independent sections of 5 slots (1×5). This would add more depth to item storage by making more sense from an authenticity standpoint.

High Capacity Vests could be represented by three 2×2 sections which would still support a pistol, but not a sawed-off or sub-machine gun.

All weapons carried by the player should be, more or less, visible on the player.

If I'm carrying an M4A1, an MP5K, and a 1911... I should have the M4A1 in my hands, the MP5K on some sort of sling, and the M1911 in a holster.

I don't want the precedent of amorphous "spaces" being carried over, where weapons just magically zorp into existence because a backpack has 30/30 slots and a weapon only takes up 15.

And yes, I recognize that in real life you can conceal weapons. But until that's actually represented in-game with a given item, I want all weapons carried by the player to be visible whilst being carried.
